Yorkshire Gundog Club

Breed: Italian Spinone
Thank you to Karen and her fabulous team for the opportunity to judge at their wonderful and well run show. I was made to feel very welcome. The Yorkshire Gundog Club Sunday 22nd February 2026 Judge: Karen Holdstock Breed: Italian Spinone Puppy 4,0ab 1st, Mr & Mrs D Wagh - Lucoru Fire And Ice For Dewdhala 9 months. A youngster who excels in head and substance. His head is well balanced, showing correct diverging head planes and a deep muzzle, with good eye placement. Good coat texture. A slight arch to a strong neck flows into well laid-back shoulders with a corresponding return of upper arm. He stood square. Good spring of rib and strong, robust throughout. Slightly slope to pasterns with neat feet. Tended to carry his head low at times, which detracted from the overall picture. I did see some lovely movement when settled - free and effortless. Delighted to award him BPIB. Wish him lots of success for the future. 2nd, Miss R Mangham - Ilsolo Soggy Bottom What a great mover! Perfectly handled and presented in excellent condition. Developing head with balanced proportions. The kindest of expressions, mischievous yet affectionate. Well balanced and of good substance for one so young. On the move she came alive. Demonstrating perfect foot fall for and aft, and in side profile she showed the desired length of stride and excellent drive. I liked her a lot. I wish her well for a bright future. Junior 1,0ab 1st, Mrs T Mann - August Dreamer 2 1/2 yrs. He certainly had a human like expression. You couldn’t help but smile when he looked up at you. Would prefer to see a little more workings in his head, although his head was balanced in proportions. Slight arch to neck, strong all through. Good bone and substance. Moderate bend of stifle. His side profile movement was free and effortless and he made the best of the small ring. Graduate 2,0ab 1st, Mrs T Mann - Make a Splash Pleasing head with kind and affectionate expression. Good depth of muzzle. Neck strong with slight arch. Well sprung ribs and deep in brisket. On the move he shone - demonstrating free flowing effortless movement which won him the class. Handled to perfection - well done 2nd, Mrs A L Hodgson - Osulf Chocolate Biscuit Handled beautifully in great condition. Head of good proportions. Kind yet alert expression. A little longer than one in cast. Solid all through with excellent spring of ribs. Good front angulation. Nice coat texture. Another beautiful mover in side profile. Fore and aft movement was a little untidy today - The small ring didn’t do her justice Post Graduate 1,1ab Open 4,1 ab 1st, Mrs S, Mr P and Mr C Whittington, Wright & Bexon - SHCH Rubino Spinone Del Mucrone with Riccini (Imp ITA) Wow — all male! A true picture of strength and presence. He presented a well balanced head with clearly defined, correctly diverging planes. His eyes were kind, of correct shape and colour, with close-fitting lids. A powerful, well muscled, slightly arched neck flowed into strong, well laid back shoulders with corresponding return of upper arm. He stood on a solid, straight front with good oval bone. His feet were compact and tidy, with well-arched toes. Overall, he is a quality, strong, square, and robust dog, shown in excellent condition. He displayed a deep brisket and well sprung ribs. His tail set was excellent, a continuation of the croup, and on the move it was carried correctly. His movement was true coming and going, and even in a small ring he showed to great advantage, demonstrating the correct, breed typical movement. Beautifully and expertly handled. It was a pleasure to award him BOB. Later, watching him move in the large BIS ring was quite breathtaking — a true showman. I was delighted to see him go BIS. Many congratulations! 2nd, Mrs S, Mr P and Mr C Whittington, Wright & Bexon - Diggmere Cortona Sofia Del Riccini Rising 4 years. Mature female with lots to admire. Pleasing head and kind eye. Neck strong of good length. Excellent front angulation, deep brisket and well sprung ribs. A little longer in cast than one. Moved out well showing good coordination and excellent foot fall. Pleased to award her RBOB I would like to sincerely thank all the exhibitors for giving me the privilege of judging your dogs.
