Critiques for Labradors - Cornwall Gundog 27.09.26

Puppy (2,0a)

1 Kennett’s Magnavalleys Mojito – 9 month old chocolate dog, the first thing I noticed as he walked in was his thick double coat, harsh to the touch. A lovely shape to him starting with the head, masculine but not overdone, good length of neck which was strong leading into good shoulder construction. Good amount of chest room and well boned on the leg. He kept a level topline whilst standing and on the move. He moved with good pace once settled which showed correct angulation and good muscle tone in the rear. BP, BPIS 3

2 Trevail’s Menadue Daydream Believer – 9 month old black bitch, feminine expression and kind eye. Nice reach of neck leading into a level topline. She has enough bone and feet were ok. Balanced outline with tail straight off the back and hocks well let down. Moved well.

Junior (3,1A)

1 Findjan’s Salvator’s Hot Summer Rossacre – 15 month old black bitch, feminine head and kind expression. Strong neck leading to a level topline kept standing and on the move. Well boned with neat feet. Good depth of chest and spring of rib, In good coat, tail a little high at times but she moved freely fore and aft to win the class. RBOB/BOS

2 Kennett’s Magnavalleys Mojito – repeat from Puppy class

Special Yearling (1,0a)

1 Findjan’s Salvator’s Hot Summer Rossacre – repeat from Junior class

Post Graduate (2,0a)

1 Philpott’s Clarisview Primrose – 4 year old classic yellow bitch, nothing overdone about her. Feminine head, melting expression with brown eyes, dark pigment, good reach of neck into correct shoulder placement. Level topline with well set on tail. Slightly longer in body than some and more coat needed today. She had enough bone, rounded feet and moved clean and steady around the ring.

2 Fishlock’s Rossacre Tiny Dancer – 2 year old black bitch, nice head shape and brown eye. Strong neck with good front construction. Carrying too much weight today which spoilt the topline whilst standing. In good coat with well let down hocks. Moved well with a handler.

Limit (4,2a)

1 Hicks’ Treamble Queen of Gems – 6 year old black bitch, good shape to the head with brown eye. Plenty of heart room, good bone and rounded feet. In good coat and muscle tone. Carrying a little too much weight for me, which affected the overall balance but the movement was sound fore and aft.

2 Jeffery’s Lembas Brooklyn at Mibridge – 2 year old black dog, up to size male with masculine broad head, brown eye. Strong neck, good spring of rib, well boned and round feet. Thick double coat, moved well.

Open Dog (2,0a)

1 Evans’ Trendlewood Long Time Comin at Pudleigh JW – 3 year old yellow dog. Masculine head without being overdone, brown eye, pigment ok. Good reach of neck, good angulation front and back. Level topline with tail straight off the back. Short coupled, well boned and has neat round feet. In good muscle tone, good turn of stifle with well let down hocks. Enough coat today, moved true fore and aft. BOB

2 Kennett’s Magnavalleys Over the Moon – 4 year old black dog. Nothing overdone about this dog. Well boned in leg, neat feet. Good reach of neck leading into a level topline which was kept standing and on the move. In correct double coat today, good otter tail. Short coupled with moderate turn of stifle and well let down hocks. Moved well.

Open Bitch (3,1a)

1 Hicks’ Treamble Queen of Gems – repeat from Limit class

2 Fishlocks’ Carpenny Halshimoor Delicious AI – 8.5 year old yellow bitch. Feminine head and expression, good pigment. Overall a little heavy today, which made the neck appear shorter and spoilt her outline. Level topline, in good double coat, enough bone, neat feet. Moderate turn of stifle and movement with a handler, was not as good as number 1 today.

Veteran (6,1a)

1 Philpott’s Rossacre Spangles of Clarisview VW – 9 year old yellow bitch. She caught my eye straight away with a lovely balanced outline. Her feminine head and kind expression is just what you want to see. Nice reach of neck into a level topline which was kept standing and on the move. Enough bone with neat feet, good turn of stifle with well let down hocks. In good coat with classic otter tail and moved the best in the class. BV, BVIS4

2 Kennett’s Magnavalleys Cornishman SHCEX – 9 year old black dog. Masculine head without being overdone. Good reach of neck leading to a level topline. Good amount of bone, good forechest and deep brisket. In good muscle tone, good turn of stifle with well let down hocks. Moved out well.
