National Working & Pastoral Breeds Open Show 14th February 2026

My sincere thanks to the Society for the kind invitation to judge at this Valentine’s-themed show. A well-run event with a friendly atmosphere and excellent presentation throughout. The exhibits were of a high standard, and I was delighted to see so many quality youngsters and adults, making the judging both enjoyable and rewarding. I appreciated the care taken by exhibitors in presentation, and I look forward to watching the progress of these promising dogs in the future.

AV Imported Register Breeds (Pastoral)

P (2,1) 1 Cartright & Burdett’s Alto Du Clos D’aria (Imp Fra) (Picardy Sheepdog)

Super 8-month-old male who presented a lovely profile on the stand and did not disappoint when going over him. Correct body proportions being slightly longer than tall. Correct head with skull and muzzle of equal length. High set erect ears. Muscular neck leading to well laid back shoulders and good depth of chest with correct length of rib. He moved out with positive easy movement. RBOB, BP

PG (5,2) 1 Conniford’s Yosseleine Rowella of Haely’s Future at Wolfeis (Imp Nld) (White Swiss Shepherd)

This girl presented a pleasing overall outline. Lovely head of correct proportions with a kind, attentive expression. Good length of clean neck flowing smoothly into well laid shoulders and a firm, level topline which was maintained both standing and on the move. Body balanced and of correct proportions. Rear angulation well developed, providing drive from behind. Moved out well around the ring with a free, ground-covering action. BOB

2 Huntley’s Var de Monts Lokiralgris at Puidelup (Icelandic Sheepdog)

Pleasing, compact type typical of the breed, presenting a balanced outline. Head well proportioned with a nice, friendly expression so characteristic of the breed. Body compact and well knit, giving the impression of a sturdy yet agile working dog. Carriage alert and attentive. Correctly presented with double rear dew claws, an important breed characteristic.

Honest exhibit presenting a good body with pleasing proportions and overall balance. Well constructed through the body with a firm topline and adequate substance. Would like a little more strength of head, though expression pleasant. On the move covered the ground adequately, maintaining a steady action around the ring.

1 John’s Ir Ch Breeselyn Ears a Breakthrou for Alepenkye CW25 ShCex (Hungarian Pumi)

Very smart, alert exhibit, beautifully presented. Head well proportioned with a lively expression, highlighted by the breed-typical, expressive ears. Compact, balanced body with correct substance for size. Moved out with energetic, springy action, covering the ground effortlessly. A stylish and functional example, showing both breed character and quality on the move.

2 Storey’s Twojos Little Miss Diva (OES)

Lovely shaped exhibit, compact and square, showing true breed type. Well presented with a coat of good texture and condition, enhancing the overall outline. Balanced and harmonious in construction, giving a pleasing impression in profile and at rest. Moved steadily around the ring, demonstrating sound action for breed type.

Best Pastoral Puppy

PG1 Briard Trimnells’ Vallonne Magical Flame

A really strong Puppy Group with quality youngsters throughout; I will watch their progress with keen interest. The Briard just had the edge today, showing super breed type and outline. Head well shaped with the characteristic pattern and a bright, intelligent expression. Body balanced with correct proportions, compact yet elegant. Moved out with foot perfect, effortless and confident, covering the ground with style. A very promising puppy, full of quality and breed character.

PG2 OES Howsham’s Jandoes Got to be Rosie

It was a very hard decision between this lovely puppy and the winner, and she pushed hard all the way. Immaculately presented with correct head shape and balanced body proportions. Nothing to dislike about this girl—sound construction, excellent coat, and a bright, confident expression. A very promising puppy with quality and breed type to admire.

PG3 Australian Shepherd Wray-Ramsden’s Aussie Revolution Conquer with Grace via Takhisis (Imp Ita)

 Well-constructed puppy of typical breed type, presented in good condition. Head well proportioned with a bright, alert expression. Balanced body with correct proportions for age. Moved out steadily and confidently, showing promise for future development. A quality youngster with sound construction and overall appeal.

PG4 Welsh Corgi Pembroke Irving’s Twinan Put Some Jam On It

Smart, compact puppy showing typical breed type. Head of correct proportions with a friendly, alert expression. Balanced body with good substance for age, and strong, well-set legs. Moved out steadily with purposeful action, demonstrating correct construction and breed character. A promising youngster with good overall type.
