Limit Show 

Firstly, a massive thank you to the club for inviting me to judge their January 2026 show. A superb start to 2026. I thoroughly enjoyed my time judging the limit show. Secondly, thank you to the exhibitors for entering, and taking their placing with kindness. An additional thank you to my amazing stewards who kept the ball rolling, day moving and managed to survive my sense of humour.

Class 1 – Puppy: (7/3)
1st Mrs I M Yeates – Cavalier King Charles Spaniel 
Vonnyisle Vera Lyn with Merryanna 
Happiest of souls, strutted around the ring like he owned it. Large, dark eyes. Long ears with feathering, moderate neck, moderate bone, compact feet, tail correct length and carried happily. Free-moving. BPIB  

2nd Mrs L Beech & Miss A Schofield – Pug 
Roxmarr Branching Out 
Charming character, head relatively larger and in proportion to body. Muzzle short & square. Dark and large round eye with a soft expression. Strong thick neck, into point of shoulder. Legs well under body. Substance to them, but not over done. Just missed out on hind drive to 1. But two lovely exhibits.

1st Mrs J Matthews – Papillon 
Jaynepaps Alsepgina Vela 
Lively and alert character. Medium size, dark eye. Large ears, medium neck. Fine bone front legs, strong loin. Light free flowing movement.  

Class 3 – Post Graduate (4/2) 
1st Mrs J Matthews – Papillon
Baillion Be Unique 
Friendly temperament, skull slightly rounded between the ears. Large eyes, medium size ears, with a lovely expression. Medium length neck into point of shoulder, fairly long body, level topline held on the move. Light and free-flowing positive movement. Abundant of coat, presented well.  

2nd Mrs J Ockenden – Papillon 
Alert character, finely pointed muzzle. Medium size eyes with dark rims. Large ears, correct fringed. Medium neck into point of shoulder. A little longer in loin then 1. Light movement.  

 Class 4 – Open (2)
1st Mrs Y Everitt-Rybak – Yorkshire Terrier 
Petluxe Full of Promise 
Medium, dark eyes with a lively and alert expression. Head not too prominent. Correct proportions for skull to muzzle. Good reach of neck, compact body. Good spring of rib and level topline. Straight hind, with good turn of stifle. This dog shows it all on the move, free movement with drive. Presented beautifully. BOB 

2nd Mrs I M Yeates – Cavalier King Charles Spaniel 
Vonnyisle Angel Effect with Merryanna 
Graceful friendly Cavalier, Large dark round eyes, muzzle well tapered, long high set ears. Moderate neck into well placed shoulder. Straight legs, good spring of rib. Tail carried happily. Just lost out to the drive of 1.

Class 5 – Puppy (4) 
1st Ms M Heeley – Border Terrier 
Thistlemead Cascabel 
8 month old puppy, eyes dark with a keen expression, correct dropping V ears, moderate length of neck into well placed shoulders. Deep, narrow and fairly long in body. Tail short, thick at the base then tapering. Carried correctly. Harsh dense coat. Floated around the ring, correct fore and aft profile. Pleased to award her BPIB & RBPIS. 

2nd Mrs K & Mr A Mccafferty – Staffordshire Bull Terrier 
Wonderstaff This Boy 
Bold and fearless. Super temperament to this boy. Loved him. Short deep skull. Well pronounced cheek muscles and expression. Dark eye. Lips tight. Muscular short neck flowing into point of shoulder. Straight legs when viewed from the front and rear. Well muscled for his age. Free moving when he got going.  

3rd Mrs S Samson, Mr G Samson & Mrs L Crawley – Norwich Terrier

 Class 6 – Special Yearling (3) 
1st Mrs R & Mr G Shippam – Bull Terrier
Kescostaff Fire Starter 
Full of spirt, fabulous attitude. Head long, strong and deep, but not over done. Correctly placed and shaped eyes, small thin ears, strong mouth with good bite. Long muscular neck tapering into shoulder. Strong fore chest without being over done. Straight front with correct pasterns and good bone. Rounded body with good spring of rib. Covered the ground on the move with ease. Really enjoyed judging this lady. BOB 

2nd Ms M Heeley – Border Terrier

Head moderately broad, strong muzzle and lovely expression. Dark eyes. Small V-shaped ears. Moderate neck into point of shoulder. Harsh dense coat. Would just like a little more drive to her.  

3rd Mrs K & Mr A Maccafferty – Staffordshire Bull Terrier

Bold in temperament, deep set through skull. Correctly pronounced cheek muscles, correct stop. Round medium shaped eyes. Tight lips, strong jaw. Neck muscular with clean outline. Strong front. Well muscled rear. Powerful movement.  

2nd Miss S Finch & Mr J K E Bonner – Norfolk Terrier 
Belleville High Society for Dalticino 
Charming little character. Broad skull, wedge shaped muzzle with correct proportions to skull. Oval eye with alert expression. Medium size ears. Strong jaw. Strong neck. Compact body, good muscled rear. Just preferred the front of 1.  

Class 8 – Open (3) 
1st Ms M Heeley – Border Terrier

Correct head, broad in skull. Strong muzzle. Dark eye with a lovely cheeky expression. Small v-shaped ears. Moderate length of neck into well placed shoulders. Deep narrow body, not over done. Strong loin. Tail thick at the base tapering towards the end. Free flowing movement. Just like a little more drive on the move  

2nd Miss V Mitchell – Cesky Terrier 
Silak Never Miss a Beat 
Rectangular shaped. Head relatively long, Distinct stop, large nostrils. Medium sized eyes. Strong jaw, medium length neck into point of shoulder. Medium length body, classic slight rise to the loin. Ribs well sprung. Strong muscular rear. I preferred the free following movement of 1.

Class 9 – Puppy (2) 
1st Mrs C West & Mrs L Sexton – Mini Wire Haired Dachshund 
Bimini Night Sky with Archidax 
Lively character. Correct proportions of muzzle to skull. Medium size, almond, dark eyes. High set ears. Strong jaw. Long, clean muscular neck. Correct shoulder placement. Front wraps neatly around chest. Correct ground clearance. Strong in bone. Broad strong rump. Drives on the move. BPIB.  

2nd Miss K D Saxby – Whippet 
Sandspring Sophia Loren 
Gentle whippet. Long and lean head tapering to the muzzle with a slight stop. Oval bright eyes with an alert expression. Strong jaw. Long muscular neck. Shoulders well laid back. Body showing the correct graceful arch. Defined tuckup. Hocks well let down. Lovely graceful movement. Just preferred the rear of 1.  

Class 10 – Special Yearling (3/1) 
1st Mrs H A Chapman-Reith – Smooth Haired Dachshund 
Wanderhund Under Your Spell with Hayvenhund 
Lovely head when viewed in profile and from above. Not too broad or narrow. Medium size, almond, dark eye. Ears set high. Strong jaw. Long neck flowing into well placed shoulders. Correct wrap around front. Correct for and aft profile. Good ground clearance. Just want her to drive a little more from behind.  

2nd Mrs K Montague – Whippet

Slight stop, tapering muzzle. Oval eyes. Jaws strong. Long neck. Deep chest. Well sprung ribs. Strong hind. Could do with settling on the move.  

 Class 11 – Post Graduate (4/1)
1st Mrs K Massey – Bloodhound 
Castledee Mistletoe 
One that took my eye. Correct head to body proportions. Slightly tapering muzzle. Correct amount of stop. Nostrils large. Medium dark oval eyes. Strong Jaw. Long neck into well placed shoulders. Ribs well sprung, chest well down between forelegs. Muscular thighs. Strong well knuckled feet. Comes alive on the move. Strong, powerful with ease when he got going. Just became lazy the more he did and gave his handler a hard time.  

2nd Miss K D Saxby – Whippet 
Sandspring Sea Coral 
Head flat on top with tapering to muzzle and a slight stop. Oval eyes. Strong jaw. Long neck into point of shoulder. Forearms straight and upright. Could use a little more depth of chest. Well sprung ribs. Loin correct power. Strong rear. Oval feet. Moved with grace.

1st Ms L Woodcroft & Mrs L Yacoby-Wright – Whippet 
Cobyco City Limits 
Oval, bright eyes with alert expression. Small fine rose ears. Long neck into well placed shoulders. Shoulder set correct. Good depth of chest. Forearms straight and upright. Deep chest and broad chest. Broad well muscled back, not being over done. Graceful arch over the loin. Ribs well sprung. Strong hindquarters with strong well developed second thigh. Correct feet. Lovely free flowing movement, holding topline throughout. Fine short coat. Lovely exhibit. BOB.

Class 13 – Puppy (8/2) 
1st Miss T Cardiff – Pointer 
Tenshilling Let’s Pretend with Prosperity 
Skull of medium breath, well defines stop, wide nostrils, with dark pigment on the nose and eyes. Long neck flowing into point of shoulder. Forelegs straight and firm. Short loin, correct angles front and rear. Oval feet, tightly knitted. Tail set and carriage correct. This bitch light up on the move, and won the class on her smooth gait. BP. Carried on that elegant driving movement to go BPIS. Look forward to watching this pup grow.  

2nd Mrs K Petitclerc – Hungarian Vizsla

Unfortunate to come up against 1 today. Correct medium stop, skull slightly longer then muzzle, nostrils well developed. Strong jaws with no dewlap. Strong, long neck flowing into point of shoulder. Correct straight front. Strong moderate rear. Not the drive of 1 today. Lovely pup.

Correct size. Correct slightly wedged shaped head, moderate stop, medium size eyes and ears. Medium length neck flowing into point of shoulder. Correct pasterns, strong & slightly sloping. Tight feet, straight front. Still needs to mature in body and fill out in chest, but a promising youngster. Strong drive on the move, covering the ground with ease.  

2nd Ms H S Walker – Spaniel (Cocker)
Glowhill Blue Sahara 
Square muzzle, strong head with correct stop. Ears set low and correct. Strong jaw, no dewlap. Medium length neck, correct bone. Body compact and well developed. Lovely wag to the tail as she moved.  

Class 15 – Post Graduate (10/3)
1st Mrs E A Glass – Spaniel (English Springer)

Won this class on the ease of movement around the ring today. Head of medium size, with a moderate stop, correct muzzle to skull proportions. Almond shaped eyes of medium size, ears close to the head of medium length. Good length of neck flowing into point of shoulder. Elbows close to the body, tight feet. Well muscled loin.  

2nd Mrs H & Mr T Sherred – Spaniel (Cocker)

Correct shaped head, with square muzzle and distinct stop. Strong jaw, with clean medium length neck into point of shoulder. Strong, Compact shape. Ribs well sprung. Muscular rear. With correct angulation. Just didnt have the drive of 1 today.  

3rd Miss T Cardiff – Pointer

Well developed skull, eyebrows and stop clearly defined. Correct broad muzzle. Full, round eye. Alert expression. Correct length of ear. Strong jaw, clean and long neck flowing into point of shoulder. Correct spring of rib, forefront straight, well boned and muscled throughout. Won BOB for depth of chest and strong movement. Well groomed and handled to his advantage.  

2nd No owner details 
Baladeva Scarlet Letters for Kanara - Spaniel (American Cocker)
Impressive dog for her age. Different type to 1. But so much to like about her. Well developed skull. Strong muzzle and jaw, neck lean and moderate in length. Smaller in size then 1, but lovely bone for her size, and straight front. Moved with drive.

Out going puppy. Correct head, with moderate stop, powerful muzzle with correct proportion for muzzle to skill ratio. Medium oval eyes. Ears set high and medium in size. Long neck flowing into well placed shoulders. Lovely straight front, good bone and substance for a youngster. Level back held on the stack and on the move. Clean movement fore and aft. Push hard in BPIS. BP.  

2nd Miss A Parker-Stokes – Poodle (Toy)

Correct skull and medium stop. Strong face. Skull good size for body. Almond eyes. Well proportioned neck of good length, and clean, flowing into point of shoulder. Well-laid back shoulders. Thighs well developed and muscled. Tight feet. Groomed beautifully. Free and light on the move, just wanted him to have a little more confidence.  

Class 18 – Special Yearling (1) 
1st Miss A Corcoran & Mrs S Howard-Riddle – Dalmatian

Stood alone in this class, but what a dog. Outdoing confident dog. Correct head shape with medium stop. Correct proportions of muzzle to skull. Clean lips, strong jaw, long neck flowing into well placed shoulders. Oval medium shaped eyes. Shoulder well laid back. Deep chest. Well sprung ribs. Level back held on the move and stacked. Strong loin, muscled rear. Well-developed second thigh. Round, compact feet. This dog comes alive on the move. Smooth, powerful movement. Correct tracking fore and aft. BOB, RBIS.  

Class 19 – Post Graduate (4/1) 
1st Mr H J C Dickenson – Poodle (Standard) 
Stood out in the class for his easy free flowing movement. Head long and fine, broad with slight stop. Head in proportion to the body. Almond, medium shaped eye. Strong jaw, long neck carrying head with pride and dignity. Strong, straight front. Chest deep. Tight feet, light on his feet on the move.  

2nd Mrs F C Taylor – Poodle (Standard)

Slightly different in style to 1. Skull not too broad, moderate stop, chiselled face. Head in proportion to body. Almond eyes, Strong jaw, well proportioned neck of good length. Would just like a little more upper arm. Straight front. Well muscled, well sprung ribs. good length of loin. Tight feet. Light movement around the ring.

Super dog. Lovely type. Strong head, with moderate stop. Well defined chin. Head in proportion with the body. Dark almond eyes. Strong jaw, good, clean, length of neck carrying head with purpose. Correct depth of chest with good width. Back short and strong. Front straight. Hindquarters well muscled. Hocks well let down. Free flowing, light movement. Lovely to watch going around.  

2nd Mr P & Mrs C Meakin – Tibetan Terrier

Lovely dog, unluckly to come up against 1 today. Sturdy dog of medium size. Skull broad not too coarse. Strong muzzle, with correct head proportions. Large, round eye. Strong medium neck, flowing into well placed shoulder. Well muscled, compact and powerful. Smooth and effortless on the move.

Broad and powerful head, slight stop, dark, round eyes. Correct length of muzzle. Strong neck, well boned for age. Strongly built for one so young. Chest strong, but still needs to develop and drop. Loin well muscled. Powerful hindquarters. When she got moving she moved with ease. Just needs some more practice. BP  

2nd Mrs F M Rogers – Bullmastiff

Lovely head, large and square. Pronounced stop. Dark medium size eyes, set well apart. Moderate length neck into point of shoulder. Still young and yet to develop in chest and front. Level topline held on the stack and on the move. Correct arched feet. Good bone. Just needs some time. Lovely youngster.  

Class 22 – Special Yearling (2) 
1st Mr A P & Mrs P A Simmonds – Leonberger

What a dog. Confident, strong, commanding when he entered the ring. Head strong but not heavy. Correct head proportions. Medium stop, open nostrils. Medium size, oval eyes. Medium size ears, placed correctly. Strong, clean neck flowing into well placed shoulders. Shoulders well laid back. Straight front. Correct proportions, fractionally longer then tall. Chest broad and deep, chest reaching to point of elbow with close fitting elbows. Strong level back with well muscled loin. Moderate rear, with good muscle. Even movement, parallel fore and aft. Easily drives around the ring. Couldnt take my eyes off him. BOB, BIS.  

2nd Miss H Gauntlett – Siberian Husky

I loved this youngster. Still more to come from her. Medium size, moderate in bone. Muzzle length correct tapering to nose. ‘Foxy’ expression. Moderate shaped eyes, set correctly. Loved her expression. Medium triangular ears. Strong jaw, with medium clean neck flowing into well placed shoulders. Head carried slightly forward on the move. Correct parallel straight front, with elbows close to the body. Body gives the appearance of power without being heavy. Hindquarters parallel and well muscled. Smooth and easy movement around the ring.  

Class 23 – Post Graduate (4/2) 
1st Mr I & Mrs S Parkin-Russell – Great Swiss Mountain Dog 
Spaclere Xander 
Lovely head with moderate stop and strong. Almond, medium sized eyes, set high. Strong medium length neck flowing into point of shoulder. Shoulders slightly sloping and well muscled. Elbowed close fitting to the body. Slightly longer in body then tall. Strong back and loin. Well muscled hindquarters. Good reach on the move, driving from behind.  

2nd Mrs E & Mrs H Townsend-Bean – Bernese Mountain Dog

Well defined stop, straight muzzle, eyes tight fitting almond in shape. Medium size ears. Moderate length of neck. Would like a little more upper arm. Broad hindquarters.

Head in proportion to size of dog. Broad skull. Correct head proportions. Moderate stop. Large, soft eyes. Moderate lenght of neck into point of shoulder. Good level of bone. Level back held at all times. Strong loin. Well bent stifles. Won the class as had a bit more drive on the move.  

2nd Mrs S A Todd – Pyrenean Mountain Dog

Calm but confident bitch. Strong head. Slight curve to the skull when viewed from the front. Strong muzzle tapering to nose. Dark almond eyes. Strong, short neck. Moderately angled front and rear. Strong boned for her age. Still time to mature as still a youngster. Slightly rounded ribcage. Broad loin, with muscled hindquarters. Just like a little more drive to her movement.  

Class 28 – Open (4/2)

Mature, powerful dog. A strong head but not over done or coarse. Correct proportions of skull. Dark, Almond eyes. Strong muzzle. Strong, short neck into point of shoulder. Strongly boned. Broad chest. Rounded ribcage. Muscular loin. Thick tail at the base. Free easy movement, handled well. BOB.

A raw youngster. Head moderately long and lean without wrinkles. Moderate stop. Almond eyes. Rounded long ears. Clean, long neck. Still needs to develop in chest. Well arched feet. Lively movement. BP

Skull wide and large, well defined stop. Head planes parallel. Muzzle slightly shorter then skull. Medium sized dark eye. Short neck into point of shoulder. Broad chest. Broad, round feet. Moderate rear angulation. Balanced movement. Would have preferred to see more rustic coat, even in length over the body. BOB

Class 32 – Veteran (13/3)

Long, clean neck flowing into well placed shoulders. Correct forechest, wrap around front, with tight elbows into the chest. Good leg length to body ratio. Strong topline held on the stack and on the move. Rear strong and well muscled. Hindquarters straight and parallel. Moved with drive coming from the rear. Lovely to watch. BVIS.
