Thank you to the society for a great show, and for having me judge multiple toy breeds. As a toy dog exhibitor I had to take into consideration on the day that due to the dry weather recently, the ground was not forgiving for the toy breeds affecting their movement. Many thanks also to the exhibitors for their entry and for the steward Adam for keeping the ring organised and flowing. 

Griffon Bruxellois:

Junior (1,0)

1ST – Woods – Delightbull Viva La Vida – Just turned 12 months, very feminine bitch of square shape. Rounded head with rounded dark eyes, good nose placement, neat lips and turn up of chin. Expresses required monkey like expression and was alert in the ring. Lovely length of neck and well laid shoulders. Level top-line and correct tail set and carriage, using her tail throughout the class. Coat of wiry texture. Moved out well today, unaffected by ground condition. RBOB

1ST – Woods – CH Delightbull Lady In Red JW – Cobby and square of good size and substance. Pleasing head proportions with good width between her high set ears. Large dark rounded eyes with definite stop and correct nose placement. Decent width to muzzle and correct bite. Level top-line and correct tail set. Coat of harsh and wiry texture. This bitch has the required width and depth of chest, without coming to you appearing wide in front. Moved out well with typical drive for the breed. BOB 

2nd– Woods – Delightbull Come On Eileen – This bitch has similar qualities as 1st just in a smaller package and very feminine. I liked her cobby square outline, with short back and strong loin. Required depth of chest with good spring of rib and level back. Just unsettled today with change of handler. 

Havanese:

Puppy (1,0)

1st – Smiths – Elperrito Mistletoes – 7.5 months bitch. I liked her size and shape, with the most gorgeous expression. Correct head proportions, length of muzzle and scissor bite. Loved her pigment to her dark gleaming eyes and nose. Flowing lines from her neck to lay of shoulder, with level top-line and required slight rise over the loin. Tail set high and carried over her back. In good coat for age. Moved out well showing true free movement and breed specific springy step. Quality bitch. BPIB / RBOB 

Post Graduate (4,2)

1st – Carter & Chadburns – Newtonwwod Rock With You – 2 year old masculine dog. Broad skull which is slightly rounded with good ear set. Correct scissor bite, black nose and lips. Friendly temperament with lovely pigment to his eyes, aiding his expression. He has a good lay of shoulder and the required slight arch over the loin. He moved out well today on the ground, showing his black pads whilst driving. I’d just prefer him slightly shorter in body length.

2nd – Walkers – Newtoonwood Blaze Of Glory – This male makes a nice silhouette and moved well, covering the ground. He also has a lot to like and I preferred his length to 1st. He has a broad skull and appropriate muzzle length. Dark pigment to eyes and eye rims and also the correct almond shape. Decent angulations to forequarters and hindquarters but I preferred the rise over the loin of 1st. 

Open (5,2)

1st – Spicers – Thistlesweet Delaware The Third (Imp Hun) – This male is a showman, full of glamour in full coat whilst also being masculine and of good bone and substance. He has a lovely head with expressive large dark eyes, black nose and correct length of muzzle. His body has a clear outline with good reach of neck, lay of shoulder and level back with required arch over the loin. Good proportions of being slightly longer than high, and with from wither to elbow and elbow to ground proportions. Friendly and outgoing temperament. Moved out with spring step and covered the ground easily and unrestricted. BOB 

2nd – Walkers – Big Mcintosh JW – A smaller male than 1st but still enough substance here. I liked his expression and temperament. His large dark eyes, correct ears and scissor bite. Good angulations to and fro. He makes a nice shape on the stand and moved out well given the ground but not covering the ground like 1st today. 

3rd- Walkers – Trufflemai Star Of Sonny at Newtonwood

Italian Greyhound:

Puppy (2,0)

1st – Tomkinsons – Runphar Super Cora – 6 months and very feminine bitch. This young bitch is a nice shape and size and is of typical aloof temperament today. I liked her eyes, showing off her expression and her shape of skull. Nice pigment throughout. Nothing to hide with her elegant neck, good lay of shoulder and her chest is deep with neat elbows. Low tail set and held correctly. Coat in great condition, fine and glossy. Moved out well today which won her the class. BPIB / RBOB 

2nd- Tomkinsons – Runphar Little Runner Bean – 6 months old and litter sister to 1st. I loved her temperament. She was more confident than 1st with wagging tail and excitable character. Similar qualities apply to this young bitch, and she has correct ear placement and rise over the loin with moderate tuck up. Not as settled on the move as 1st today. 

Junior (1,0)

1st – Tomkinsons – Follow My Chart Let It Burn at Runphar (Imp Pol) – Just over 12 months, black male of larger size. Skull long and narrow with slight stop and ears placed correctly. The darkest of pigment to his eyes and nose accompanied with scissor bite. Finely boned throughout, would prefer more depth of chest but does have required slight arch over loin and low tail set. Coat is thin and supple. Moved out ok today.

1st – Henshall’s – Gemolli A Million Dreams – This 2.5 year old bitch makes a lovely silhouette, with correct skull proportions, long and flat with slight stop. Black nose and scissor bite. I loved her dark eyes, they really draw you in. Long graceful neck with rise over the loin and low tail set and carried correctly. Forelegs held well under the body with deep and narrow chest and good tuck up. She has brilliant hind angulations with turn of stifle and hocks let down. Coat is fine and glossy as required. Moved out freely. BOB 

Maltese:

Junior (2,0)

1st – Welbourns – Zumarnik Scandalize – A larger male puppy, but of square and cobby shape. He is certainly lively and kept his handler on her toes but has a great friendly temperament. He shows off a lovely expression, with correctly shaped eyes which are dark accompanied with black nose and correct scissor bite. You can clearly see he has clean lines from his neck, shoulder placement and level back. Good turn of stifle to hind quarters. Silky pure white coat. When settled he covers the ground with ease with straight flowing movement. 

2nd – Bagguley’s – Silkwhite Dreams Blaze Of Glory – This young male is a smaller size than 1st and makes a nice square shape and balance. He has great pigment to his eyes and nose and black pigment on his skin to his back. Lovely length of neck and level back and used his tail well with correct angulations to and fro. He has a nice silky white coat which was cool to touch. Preferred the movement of 1st today. 

Post Graduate (1,0)

1st – Lee’s Lafford Zippin Along – 20 months old male. Couldn’t keep my eyes off him. What really sold it to me was first his expression and secondly his movement. Decent skull proportions with well defined stop and good muzzle length and scissor bite. Lovely length of neck, shoulder placement, spring of rib and level top-line. He moved around that ring with reach and drive, showing free unrestricted movement. In full coat of silky texture. Great pigment throughout. Balanced and cobby dog. BOB and later TG2

1st – Georgiou & Wong-Curley – Silkwhite Dreams Fun And Zen JW CW26 CJW26 INT JCH 

20 months old male in full white silky coat. He is a nice cobby square shape and balanced throughout. Great temperament. I liked his expression, his dark eyes and his muzzle width and length. Definite stop and scissor bite. Clean neck and level short back. Good spring of rib and short loin. Tail set and carried well throughout. He wasn’t a big fan of the ground today and settled for RBOB. 

2nd – Bagguley’s – GR GCH Silkwhite Dreams Melina Of Dawnangel (Imp Grc) - Sweet and friendly temperament. Nice square shape and good size. Feminine throughout. Rounded skull with good ear set. Great dark pigment to eyes and nose, with black pigment to skin on her back. Her coat is pure white and silky but not in full coat as 1st. Nice lay of shoulder and good bone. Also not enjoying the ground conditions today on the move. 

Pekingese:

Puppy (1,0)

1st – Clifton’s – Bellablake Get Lucky With Clifcastle – 10 months old with large shallow head. Broad between the ears and the most glamorous large dark rounded eyes. Full of expression. Nose wrinkle apparent but not obscuring. Nose black with wide open nostrils. Good width of chest between forelegs. Distinct waist, with good lay of shoulder and with lighter hind quarters. Neck short and straight. Tail set high and carried well. Moved out with slow rolling gait, typical for the breed. In good coat for age. BOB/BPIB and later TPG4 

Post Graduate (1,0) 

1st – Clifton’s Yakee King Of The Kop at Clifcastle JW – This male is very masculine. His head is broad, with large dark eyes and good nose placement with wide open nostrils. He picks up heavy with good bone and distinct waist. Good short thick neck, correct lay of shoulder and level top-line with high tail set. Lighter in hind quarters as required. Preferred the expression of 1st. He wasn’t a fan of the ground conditions today. RBOB 

Yorkshire Terrier:

Open (1,0)

1st – Lee’s – Litalees Red Rebel – A fully coated, dark steel blue male. Small skull with high set small ears of darker rich tan. Loved his expression and his dark eyes. Scissor bite and black nose. Alert temperament. Long fall on head of darker rich tan. Correct neck length, leading into well laid shoulders and level top-line. Silky coat which was cool to touch. Good turn of stifle. This male was not affected by the ground and showed plenty of drive and free movement. BOB and later TG3 

Josh Parker (Judge)
