It was a great honour to judge at this show, and I would like to thank the exhibitors for their excellent entry and for allowing me to assess their dogs. My sincere thanks go to my steward, Colin Woodward.

GERMAN SHORTHAIRED POINTER

Puppy (1, 0 absent)

1st – 40 Orchidstar Ruby Sunday (Hill) – Best Puppy

Lovely 8-month-old liver-ticked bitch. Pleasing head with good proportions and a gentle expression. Well developed for her age, with good spring of rib and a balanced outline. Moved freely. One to watch for the future.

Junior (5, 2 absent)

1st – 41 Winterwell Monet’s Magic of Fayemm (AI) (Lockett)

16-month-old solid liver bitch of good type and balance. Presented a well-proportioned, clean-cut head with pleasing eye and expression. Strong, muscular neck flowing into well-laid shoulders. Good bone and overall construction with a firm topline. Moved well, covering the ground with ease, and was the best mover in this class.

2nd – 43 Winterwell The Card Player (AI) JW (Samria)

Solid liver dog of good type with a balanced head, although the eyes were slightly large. Long, arched neck and well-laid shoulders. I would prefer a firmer topline and less slope to the croup, with slightly more length of body. Moved soundly.

3rd – 35 Humjoli Persia’s Prince (Blacker & Khan-Blacker)

Post Graduate (4, 2 absent)

1st – 34 Edelmidpoint Silhouette for Sparkenhoe JW (Angus) – Reserve Best of Breed

Black and white ticked bitch of pleasing type. Attractive head with a lovely eye and correct ear set. Strong, arched neck flowing into well-laid shoulders. Well angulated throughout with a level topline and correct tail set. Moved freely with a flowing gait to secure Reserve Best of Breed.

2nd – 41 Winterwell Monet’s Magic of Fayemm (AI) (Lockett)

As winner of the Junior class. Another quality exhibit, just not quite matching the overall finish of the class winner on this occasion.

Open (4, 0 absent)

1st – 32 Sh Ch Keigame Mystique Aurora JW (Adams) – Best of Breed

Liver and white ticked bitch of excellent type and quality. A beautiful, feminine exhibit with a well-proportioned head, pleasing eye and correct ear set. Strong, moderately arched neck flowing into well-laid shoulders and a deep chest. Well constructed throughout with a firm topline and good turn of stifle. Presented well both standing and in motion. Moved freely with a flowing gait, maintaining her outline throughout. A well-deserved Best of Breed.

2nd – 39 Ceilloch Russian (Hill)

Liver and white ticked dog of good type with a well-proportioned head and dark eyes giving a pleasing expression. Well angulated with a strong, well-muscled body, deep chest and well-sprung ribs. Short back and firm topline. Did not show to best advantage on the move on this occasion.

3rd – 41 Winterwell Monet’s Magic of Fayemm (AI) (Lockett)

As winner of the Junior class.

VIZSLA

Puppy (5, 1 absent)

1st – 55 Lindenwood Witchcraft (Miss N Steeden) – Best Puppy

Lovely puppy bitch with a pleasing head, kind eye expression and correct ear set. Strong, moderate neck. I liked her overall body structure. She has good bone and cat-like feet. Carried her topline well on the move and moved soundly, carrying her tail correctly.

2nd – 59 Glenbrows Blush at Tantaraviz (Miss C M Ward, Mr T D Harrison & Mrs H L Harrison)

Sweet, lovely puppy with a feminine head and gentle eye expression. Nice moderate neck leading into well-laid shoulders. Straight front with good front angulation and tight feet. Nicely handled. She has a good level topline with slight tuck-up. Moved well, although lacking a little drive today. A promising winner for another day.

3rd – 57 Kandymal Sweet William at Baratja (Mr D Underdown)

Junior (2, 2 absent)

No exhibits present.

Post Graduate (3, 0 absent)

1st – 60 Oakswarren Trickster (Mr P Watson) – Reserve Best of Breed

Lovely build on this handsome dog with a pleasant head and lovely eye expression. Good clean, arched neck. I liked his head and well-balanced body proportions, deep chest and good layback of shoulder. Nice topline. Beautiful dense coat and colour. Moved well, holding a correct topline throughout the class.

2nd – 47 Roughshoot Tiffin (Mrs P & Mr A Connolly)

Lovely bitch with a pleasant head and sweet eye expression. Well angulated in front with good forechest. Firm topline and excellent tail set. She was a lovely mover from the side and quite sound throughout.

3rd – 51 Vizslanya Vulkani JW

Open (6, 1 absent)

1st – 45 Sh Ch Highforce All or Nothing JW OSW (Ms E M Bradley) – Best of Breed

Handsome dog showing his beauty and strength as always. He has a strong, lovely head with sweet eye expression, correct ear set and moderate, strong neck. I liked everything about this dog. Best presented and handled today and shown in excellent condition. One of the best movers on the day, moving with full enthusiasm and carrying the correct tail set. A very well-deserved winner of Best of Breed today.

2nd – 54 Lindenwood Hocus Pocus (Miss N Steeden)

Lovely feminine bitch, well balanced throughout and moving gracefully around the ring. I loved her feminine head and expression. She is well balanced with good body proportions, level topline, slight tuck-up and strong loin, with moderate muscular hindquarters. Moved well.

3rd – 48 Castledogley Firenze JW (Mr D J Hardcastle & Ms E M Bradley)
