19th April 2026

I had a thoroughly enjoyable time judging some beautiful dogs at this show. A fantastic entry of over 40 whippets and the Pastoral Breeds despite not having large entries had some super quality representatives of their breeds for me to judge. Thank you both to the exhibitors and the society for what was a very pleasant judging experience.

Whippets

Puppy 5, 1abs

1st - Canaigh Toccata At Falconcrag NAF - Best Puppy In Breed

8 1/2 months old fawn of good breed type. She is of correct size and is developing well. I found her to be very balanced and without exaggeration with the smooth flowing lines I was looking for. She is very pleasing to go over and her shape is very correct both standing as well as in profile movement when she settles. Tailset is correct, of good length and carried well. Correct ribbing and strong loin. She was sensitively handled to get the best from her showing a free, easy stride and as I watched her later in the day she just got better and better and I was thrilled to see that she was awarded Best Puppy In Group and Best Puppy In Show.

2nd - Wrennella Sweet Ivory. This fawn boy was just 6 months of age and very much the baby of the class however I felt he could not be denied this place for his breed type and I saw glimpses of very correct movement particularly in the side gait. Handler was very nervous but did very well to show off his qualities.

3rd - Loroli Devil In The Detail

Graduate 10, 1 abs

1st - Falconcrag On A Roll. I loved the type of this young 19 months old fawn bitch, who has a particularly typical head and expression enhanced by her correct eye. Of lovely size with correct bone. She is both elegant and feminine whilst retaining strength. Lovely smooth outline with correct underline. Good neck and shoulder with correct hind angulation. When settled her profile movement also showed the correct style. Her overall quality could not be denied here.

2nd - Dalerafenn Follow A Dream JW. A nice style of fawn bitch who is coming up to 2 years. I found a lot to like about her and feel she shows a lot of breed type; developing well and one I feel still needs time to reach her best. She had a good neck and shoulder and appeals for overall balance. She was very well handled and maintained her shape on the move.

3rd - Edenwhip Moonstruck

Post Graduate 8, 2 abs

1st - Edenwhip Oregano JW. I have previously given this boy a BOB and I still like a lot about him. Now approaching 20 months, this is a brindle boy with lovely pigmentation and a correct expression. On examination he is very correct and without exaggerations although on the larger side for me. His angulation is balanced and he moved soundly in both directions as well as a positive side gait without any excessive lift. I did not feel he was quite at his best today hence giving away for Best of Breed this time.

2nd - Crosscop You’re Still The One For Groomsville. 5 year old bitch who appeals greatly to me for breed type. She was in very nice body condition and I found her very correct to go over. She also presented a sound and typical gait which secured her this place.

3rd - Bohosoul Firestarter By Edenwhip

Limit 11, 2 abs

1st - Edenwhip Call Me At Night - Best of Breed. I felt this 2 1/2 year old boy really pulled out the stops today to win Best Of Breed in a quality entry. He was in lovely body condition and handled to his advantage. I found his angulation balanced and each time he was asked to move he maintained his profile shape and covered the ground with a long stride and without unnecessary lift. He is a stronger boy throughout but is in proportion and retains breed type.

2nd - Falconcrag Made You Look. I really liked this bitch, she appeals to me greatly for her type and stylish, smooth outline. Every inch correct Whippet and looking really well for her 5 years. For me today then her out and back was not as clean as I was hoping for which may have been due to the venue but this was not an easy decision as I liked her a lot. Beautifully handled and presented.

3rd - Falconcrag Drama Queen

Open 6, 2 abs

1st - Collooney For Your Eyes Only JW. 2 year old brindle boy of lovely size and very much to like about him. I found him to be balanced throughout with an appealing head and expression. Movement was true in both directions and he maintained his shape whilst gaiting. He was presented and handled well and pushed hard for Best of Breed today.

2nd - Edenwhip Grange Fell At Willowash. I really liked this almost 8 years old bitch. What a lovely type and style of Whippet of the correct size. Unfortunately she was not as clean out and back as I would have liked to see but a beautiful bitch who was handled to her advantage.

3rd - Falconcrag Rockin This Look

1st - Liskarn You Never Know with Jenkova

Very appealing young red merle. Almost a year old, he is well boned and head is in proportion to his body. He was presented in lovely condition both in body and coat. Good length of neck and correct topline. He moved well in all directions and was well handled, unfortunate to meet the lovely Bitch who was Best of Breed as I liked him a lot.

Post Graduate 2, 1 abs

1st - Liskarn You Never Know with Jenkova - as graduate

Open 1

1st - Ch Jopium Dark and Demure JW - Best of Breed

I really liked this bitch who was presented in immaculate condition. She appeals for breed type and also is very stylish. She has good bone for her size and the correct body proportions. Good neck and shoulder and correct topline. Head, eye and pigment all very correct and when settled she shows a lovely movement in all directions. Best of Breed and a well deserved Group 3 in what I thought was a lovely Group.

Bearded Collie

Junior 2, 1 abs

1st - Briarsfield Little Swan At Aoibh - Best of Breed and Best Puppy In Breed. This baby Beardie stood alone today but at 7 months I found her very promising. She is of a lovely type with a particularly nice head and eye at this stage. Balanced construction with good topline and long tail. Her coat is developing well and when settled she displayed the correct movement in all directions. I will watch her with interest. She was a very well deserved Puppy Group 3.

Belgian Shepherd (Groendael)

Post Graduate 1

1st - Revloch Shakira At Kelflyn IKC - Best of Breed

3 1/2 year old bitch with correct head and expression. I liked her for size and breed type. Typical head and eye with alert outlook and great attitude. I liked her overall body proportions and construction. Took her a while to settle on the move but when she did she showed a good front movement and side gait; could be a little erratic behind at times but she was very excited. In good body and coat condition and I awarded her Best of Breed over her lovely almost 11 year old mother today.

Open 1

1st - Ch Ir Ch Revloch Love Me Do JW ShCM SHCex VW OSW IKC

So much to like about this older lady who clearly knows she is special. At 10 years of age and in huge coat she had to give way to her daughter today who also appealed greatly and was in super body condition. Lovely head and expression with alert outlook, with correct body proportions. Very good front neck and front angulation. Full of character, it was a pleasure to judge her and she also held her own in a lovely Veteran Class later in the day.

Belgian Shepherd (Tervueren)

1st - Timeless Destiny Star Acts Over Barrenclough JW (Imp Pol)

Almost 3 year old sable girl. She is of nice breed type with a typical feminine head with the correct eye and well placed ears, creating a pleasing expression. Good bone and feet with correct pasterns. Moved soundly covering the ground well. Not in full coat currently but it is of the correct texture and she presented the correct outline shape.

2nd - Cambrogan’s Blissful Barra. 2 year old tricolour presented in good coat. Correct eye placement and well used ears. Balanced angulation front to rear with a good neck. Good length of tail.

Open 6, 1 abs

1st - Jopium Follow My Heart JW - Best of Breed

Almost 2 years sable bitch. Lovely type of bitch with a particularly appealing head and eye, giving typical expression. Presented here in immaculate condition. All in proportion and I liked her for size with the correct amount of bone and her lovely breed type. Good neck and shoulder with correct body proportions. She has a very nice outline shape on the stand with the correct croup. She moved soundly, and really pulled out the stops today to gain a shortlist in what I considered to be a very nice Group.

2nd - Oakley Ice Queen for Karafaye (Imp Che)

Attractive 3 year old blue merle with balanced head giving a nice expression. Balanced angulation with good neck and shoulder, firm hindquarters and good croup. Moved out well in all directions. Not quite the coat and condition of the 1st but nevertheless a very nice bitch who gained 2nd in a good class.

3rd - Barrenclough Heart of Gold JW SHcEX OSW VW

German Shepherd Dog

Junior 2, 1 abs

1st - Surfstone Rhysent Edition - Best Puppy and Best of Breed

This puppy very quickly stole my heart. The best of characters and expertly handled to contain his lovely exuberance. I found him to be full of quality. Strong and powerful yet still retaining a real Head of quality, developing well and the best of eyes. Well boned and with excellent body condition, standing on good feet and I felt just exactly at the stage of development he should be for his age. He presented a lovely outline both on the stack and move, with particularly good angulation both front and rear. His gait was sound and correct in all directions and showing some excellent side gait when settled. I could not deny him a lovely Group 2 and going on to take Puppy Group 1. A very exciting prospect indeed.

Post Graduate 2, 1 abs

1st - Surfstone Limited Design

Litter sister to the Junior and she pushed him all the way in the Best of Breed challenge. So much to like about her, and built on very similar lines. Many of the same comments apply to her as to him. She was pipped in the end as at this moment in time I just preferred the head on her brother at this stage of development but I very much expect she will give him a run for his money.

2nd - Droyales Present Verdandi JW. 2 year old male, developing well. Strong head with correct eye and well placed ears. Good bone and feet with good shoulder placement. Topline is firm both standing and on the move. He moved out powerfully, sound coming and going. Well muscled with correct tail. Unfortunate to meet the beautiful youngster here.

Open 2, 2 abs

Shetland Sheepdog

Junior 5

1st - Nithview The Drifter - Best of Breed and Best Puppy In Breed

Still needing time to develop at almost 10 months of age, this boy appealed for overall breed type. Attractive refined head and eye with sensitive ear carriage and in proportion with his size. Good neck and shoulder with correct bone and feet. Balanced angulation with level back and correct croup. Presented in lovely coat and condition. Movement was accurate in all directions. Very promising puppy at this stage.

2nd - Nithview Black Velvet. I also liked this bitch who I see is litter sister to 1st. Again plenty of breed type with an alert outlook. Good front, not in the coat of her brother at this stage although she is well constructed and moved out positively and soundly to gain this place. Another very nice puppy.

3rd - Fervalia Black Cuillin

Post Graduate 2

1st - Fervalia Black Cuillin. 3rd in the previous class. Lovely attitude on this just turned 1 year old tricolour male who is still needing to develop in body. Head in proportion to body with good feet. He was sensitively handled and moved out better than his litter mate today in this environment.

2nd - Fervalia Blue Dahlia. Blue Merle litter mate to the above, quite similar in type to first and also needing time to develop. Again balanced throughout, he was a little unsettled on the move today.

Open 3, 1 abs

1st - Katiedale The Piper At Nithview. Almost 4 years male with a lot to like. Appeals for size and breed type with balanced angulation. Correct bone and feet, good topline, well presented with an alert outlook and sensitive use of ears. Sound in all directions, I just preferred the overall proportions of the puppy for Best of Breed who I was not surprised to see is his son.

Welsh Corgi (Pembroke)

Post Graduate 4

This was a nice class.

1st - Albadhu Bark In Action - Best Puppy and Best of Breed. This most appealing 9 month old puppy impressed me greatly on first look and I felt he got better and better. I found his head to be developing well for his age with an alert expression. His movement was free and active with correct footfall. Well angulated front and the more I looked at him the more I liked him. In super condition and presented and handled to advantage.

2nd - Coquetmoss Sweet Chestnut. Just 14 months male and another very nice dog of a slightly different style to 1st. Masculine head with alert expression and soundly constructed throughout. Another who moved out well and with a very outgoing friendly attitude. Unfortunate to meet 1st today.

3rd - Albadhu Bark To The Future

Open 2

1st - Coquetmoss Princess Leia. 4 year old bitch who has a very good front construction, alert outlook and showed an active gait consistently. It was a close decision for Best of Breed but she gave way to a super puppy today.

2nd - Daleabbey’s Aria At Calwinii. 7 year old bitch and another that I liked and who appealed for overall type and style. Balanced angulation which enabled her to move out positively in all directions.

AV Pastoral NSC

Puppy 2, 1 abs

1st - Soulbobs Northern Soul Girl (OES) - Best AVNSC Puppy

This lovely OES 6 1/2 month old puppy was presented in lovely condition and sympathetically handled to get the best from her. She was full of spirit with lovely puppy attitude. She shows lots of breed type with correct body proportions and when settled I found her very sound especially for her age. I liked her intelligent expression and overall appearance. She shows great potential at this age.

Post Graduate 2

1st - Ribblespride Kruger JW (Lancashire Heeler)

Good head shape and well used ears. Body proportions and elbows were correct and with an alert outlook to his advantage. Movement was positive with well carried tail. Presented and handled well.

2nd - Coldelee New Kid In Town (Smooth Collie)

A difficult decision here between these 2 dogs. He showed breed type and has good head and body proportions but was a little unsettled on the move today and had to give way to the sounder movement of the Heeler, but a close decision.

Open 4, 2 abs

1st - Ch Primo Ensa Boreas For Cordante (Imp LTU) - Hungarian Puli - Best AVNSC

This 7 year old Puli took my eye immediately. All quality throughout and appeals greatly for breed type with the correct outline, length of back and short loin. I liked his head, eye and correct pigmentation. Good shoulder with tight elbows and good straight forelegs. Deep, well sprung ribs with strong hindquarters. Very well handled to his advantage to show off a lovely lively and typical gait. True in all directions with good tail set and carriage. The more I looked at him then the more impressed I was and his style combined with his construction and attitude were a delight; one who truly knows he is special. In a quality entry he eventually was a well deserved Group winner today.

2nd - Poolheywood Barney - Lancashire Heeler

3 1/2 year old male Heeler with well sprung ribcage and firm topline. Good body proportions and correct coat. Unfortunate to meet the beautiful Puli but a lot to like. Alert outlook with great temperament and handled to advantage. Moved freely and briskly.

Group

Group 1 Puli

Group 2 GSD

Group 3 Australian Shepherd

Group 4 Border Collie (Locheil Freeze Frame). This 2 year old male was presented in lovely condition and handled to his advantage. Appealing outlook on the stand with sensitive use of ears to his advantage. He has a good neck and shoulder as well as hind angulation. He was sound out and back, maybe not quite giving of his best in the smaller Group ring here but he gained 4th place in what I considered to be a very good Group today.

Puppy Group

Group 1 GSD

Group 2 Pembroke Corgi

Group 3 Bearded Collie

Group 4 Border Collie (Borderbrook Special Dream). This puppy gave her handler a hard time here, but her overall quality gained her 4th place in a nice puppy group. Attractive head properties and when settled she showed a sound out and back movement, alert outlook and pleasing outline on the stand.
