Breed: Dandie Dinmont Terrier

Dandie Dinmont Terriers

Despite being in the breed for nearly 40 years, I don't often get the opportunity these days to go over so many Dandies in one go and thoroughly enjoyed my day. I would like to thank the exhibitors for bringing their dogs under me.

Overall the quality was good, everyone was intact, teeth all present and correct. Some of the eyesets tapered rather than having the typical Dandie stop & there were tails carried a little too high for my liking. My principal winners were all good representatives of the breed, and I was particularly pleased with my final line-up.

Puppy (2)

1st – 83, Wepwawet Real Humdinger. Pretty 11 month old mustard girl with a lovely coat and nice shape. Carrying a little bit of weight today, but she moved well and had enough overall quality to take the class. Later delighted to award her Best Puppy in Breed.

2nd – 75, Wepwawet Night Owl. 11 month old pepper boy with his coat coming through. Moved well, but today just pipped to the post by his sister. Like to see how they both mature.

Special Yearling (2,1 abs)

1st – 85, Fabio Z Meduňkové Stráně (Imp CZE). Nice pepper boy, 15 months old. Moved well with a lovely ear set and a great coat. A very sweet youngster with a still masculine expression – a little charmer.

Limit (4,1 abs)

1st – 89, Redgreet Mighty Oak. Lovely mustard dog with a very good coat. Nice tail set and a good head. Moved well and presented a pleasing, typical picture. His quality carried him through to Reserve Best of Breed.

2nd – 86, Lenacourt Laird Rannech. Another good exhibit with much to like. Good coat and moved well. Close decision between the first two, with the winner just having the edge for me today.

3rd – 76, Nora Z Roxburku Sun Cum Magellanica.

Open Dog (2, 1 abs)

1st – 82, Kiti’s Band Take The Lead To Torbrae (Imp CZE) EJW25. 26-month-old pepper dog. A beautifully typical Dandie with an excellent long, low outline, big skull and plenty of furnishings. Moved really well and impressed me with his overall breed type and quality. I was very pleased to award him Best of Breed and one to watch going forwards.

Open Bitch (3, 1 abs)

1st – 77, Puddockswell My Darling Clementine Cum Magellanica. Lovely eight-year-old mustard girl who moved really well. A bitch that I've judged before who has really grown into herself. A quality bitch who retained her breed type and presented herself beautifully. Very pleased to award her Best Veteran in Breed.

2nd – 90, Woodfud Silver Star. Lovely pepper bitch, just two years old. A little leaner in maturity than the winner, but moved well and was very close up. Much to like about her and she should continue to develop with maturity.

Best of Breed – 82, Kiti’s Band Take The Lead To Torbrae (Imp CZE) EJW25.

Reserve Best of Breed – 89, Redgreet Mighty Oak.

Best Puppy in Breed – 83, Wepwawet Real Humdinger.
