Midland Rottweiler Club Open Show 17.01.2026

First of all I would like to say how honoured I was to be asked to judge this show. Thank you to the committee for asking me. I was thrilled with my entry and equally thrilled to be able to go over some lovely dogs. Thank you to each and every exhibitor for entering under me. My heartfelt thanks must also go to my stewards who kept things flowing and showed patience and expertise when I needed help!

BPD (1) 1. Aspinall, Miss J. Olearia Westfalen The One 5 mths. Lovely looking baby puppy and so well schooled for his age. Has all the attributes present to make a very well constructed adult male. Clean head, dark, almond eyes, good shaped ears all giving a very open, genuine expression. Correct dentition and flew colour. Lovely shape to neck flowing into a compact body. Good tail set and shape, held correctly. Lovely feet, and correct markings throughout. Moving nicely, although very much a puppy roll, he shows purpose and enthusiasm. He was enjoying his day out and showed himself off very well today! BBPIS

MPD (5,2) 1. Powell, Mr & Mrs J.M. Riversrock Silver Ghost 7mths. Super looking puppy with a very mature outlook on life. Clean head and jawline, correct dentition and length of muzzle. Eyes slightly round but giving a calm and secure gaze. Pendant ears of correct length, lying fairly close to the head. Strong neck leading to a very good front assembly, legs of good bone standing four square on tight feet. Slightly smudgy pencil marks which I’m sure will grow out. Good depth of chest and developing nicely along the topline and loin. Moved with reach and drive and showed real purpose today both coming and going. He was calm and attentive to his handler. Shown in very good condition.

2. Daly, Miss S.L. Deltarott Lightnin MCQueen. 17mths. A handsome boy with a lovely clean head, good stop and almond eyes of the darkest colour. Correct dentition and flew colour. Ears of correct shape which he was using well today. Slightly longer neck onto a decent front assembly with enough angulation and forechest. Strong legs onto tight feet with correct pencil marks. Good under and top line, sloping slightly to the croup. Well let down hocks and moderate angulation. Lovely tail set and carriage. Moved true coming and going showing reach and drive. Today he was in a jolly mood and gave his handler a little bit of a hard time! Lovely temperament and shown in lovely condition. He is developing very well.

JD (2) 1. Moss,Miss C.A. Chantavory’s Wonder Boy. 14mths. Impressive young male of excellent breed type and quality. Clean masculine head showing acceptable wrinkle when alert. Correct shaped muzzle, good flews and scissorbite dentition. Ears pendant shaped and close to the head. Strong neck leading to a straight topline and excellent forechest. Well balanced angles front and rear, with super bone and substance. Good strong pasterns onto tight feet with the correct pencil marks. Well muscled loin and croup with a very good tail set and carriage, which he kept on the move. Movement balanced, showing reach and drive, he covered the ground with ease and power. Super temperament and shown in hard condition. Definitely one to watch in his career!

2. Fell, Mrs J & Mr M. Taneven Dutch14mths. Lovely expressive face, with dark eyes, of correct almond shape and size. Clean head and correct pendant ears lying close to the cheek. Correct bite, with dark flews. Good strong neck leading to a straight topline, tailing off slightly at the croup. Good tail set with a nice sabre shape. Decent front and rear assembly, with moderate rear angulation. Lovely markings and good tight feet. I would like to have seen more reach and drive when on the move. Today he was a little unsettled. Lovely temperament and shown in very good condition.

YD (2 ) 1.Gibson, Mrs T. Flash Wizard Montenegro Rott Diester 17mths. Handsome young male showing excellent substance and oozing presence and style. Clean head with pendant ears, lying close to the cheek. Correct dentition and dark flews in a strong jaw line. Lovely neck flowing into a straight topline which he kept on the move. Great front assembly, developing well and with correct angulation front and rear, leading on to lovely tight feet. Pasterns need to tighten up a bit but overall, he moved with reach, drive and purpose and he was straight coming and going. He has time to fill out but he is showing all the signs of a substantial boy. Very good temperament and shown in super condition.

PG. (2,1) 1. Kichenside, Mrs W & Mr I. Deltarott Din Djarin JW 2yrs. Handsome young male with an impressive gaze and presence. Clean head, just enough wrinkle when alert, correct pendant shaped ears, close to the head and excellent strong jawline with correct length of muzzle, correct dentition and flews. Lovely strong neck flowing down to a good lay of shoulder and front assembly. Excellent forechest and straight legs, having plenty of bone. Tight feet. On the move, he kept his topline and tail carriage and moved with purpose and enthusiasm, giving an overall impression of power and balance, both coming and going. Lovely markings and coat in excellent condition. Lovely temperament and well handled. Delighted to award him RBIS.

LD (4,2) 1. Courtney-Baughan, Ms G. Jhava Black Magic over Whisperdown 2yrs. Substantial male standing four square on strong, powerful legs with very good bone. Clean head, showing no excess wrinkle. Good length of muzzle. Correct dentition with dark flews. Lovely dark almond eyes and pendant ears. Powerful neck and great front assembly. Lovely straight top and under line leading to correct tail set and shape. Excellent rear angulation and bend of stifle and good strong hocks all helping to power himself around the ring with reach, drive, enthusiasm and balance. Shown in excellent condition, well muscled and displaying a lovely honest temperament. Overall, a well made, compact dog with elegance and style.

2. Wilkinson, Ms Y. Rottkinson Dark Knight 2yrs. Another substantial male standing on good bone and tight feet. Alert, good looking male with a wrinkle free head, good stop, correct dark, almond shaped eyes and good ear shape and size, lying close to the cheek. Correct dentition and dark flews. Lovely arched neck leading on to a well developed front assembly, with a good lay of shoulder and deep brisket. Flat topline, moderate angulation, correctly shaped croup leading to a good tail set, carried in sabre shape. When he settled, he showed super reach and drive, moving with purpose and determination. He was straight coming and going. He was a little unsettled today which was a shame, but it did not detract from his ability to move correctly. Well handled, lovely temperament and shown in very good condition.

OD (2,1) Egerton & Sutcliffe, Miss D. & Ms E. Ch Bereyda The Real Defender JW 3yrs. I have watched the progress of this boy with interest and I was delighted to be able to meet him first hand. Nothing disappointed! A lovely, solid impressive male with a calm outlook on life that oozes power. Lovely head type, showing no excess wrinkle, dark almond eyes with the calmest of gazes. Neat pendant ears, lying close to the head. Strong underjaw, decent length of muzzle, Correct dentition and flews and a lovely black nose. Strong neck of correct proportions, leading to a great front assembly. Slightly long in loin, but topline well held on the move. Excellent tail shape and carriage. Hocks well let down, strong pasterns, great bone and substance and lovely tight feet. On the move, he was balanced fore and aft and flowed effortlessly around the ring showing real reach and drive. Shown in excellent condition, well muscled and completely balanced in all ways. Also, at one with his handler. Delighted to award him BIS.

VB (2) 1. Jones & Monk, Mrs V & Mrs M. Ch Olearia Western Girl from Westfalen 7yrs. Pretty, medium sized girl with a very feminine head and lovely calm expression. Clean head, dark eyes of correct almond shape, neat ears carried well. Enough fill under the eye, strong muzzle, correct dentition and flews. Decent length and width of neck leading to a very good front assembly with a very good lay of shoulder and excellent bone. Compact feet with lovely pencil marks. Very good top and underlines, leading to well developed 1st and 2nd thighs which gave her the power to move enthusiastically around the ring showing very good reach and drive, whilst maintaining balance both coming and going. Fit and well muscled, she obviously enjoyed her day and presented an excellent outline overall. Lovely temperament. BVIS

2. Willis-Impey, Mrs C A Abacab’s Kuma 7yrs. Feminine, elegant girl with a clean head and decent stop. Dark almond eyes, giving a calm gaze and correct pendant ears lying close to the head. Lovely muzzle length, good flews and correct scissor bite. Decent length of neck, strong, leading to a well developed defined forechest and a good front assembly. Excellent angulation and very well off for bone. Good tight feet, correct pencil markings. Slightly longer in body, but kept her topline on the move. Lovely markings and shown in nice condition, although I would say that she wasn’t so enthusiastic today for running around the ring! Excellent temperament and attentive to her handler.

MPB (5) 1. Alison, Mrs A & Mr C Dortmund Showoff 6mths. Super puppy, lovely expression and although quite raw, very willing to please. She has a good clean head, correct pendant ears lying close to the head. Dark almond eyes and a lovely length of muzzle showing a definite jawline. Correct dentition with dark flews. Good length of neck onto an excellent front assembly with excellent bone. Although she is still very puppy like, she moved with purpose showing great reach and drive. Excellent topline onto a slightly sloping croup and correct tail carriage and shape, which she held on the move. Overall, a well schooled youngster, with a bright future ahead. Lovely temperament and well handled.

2. Twigg, Mrs SJ, Mr G, Miss M & Miss A. Riversrock Silver Princess von Teffys. 7mths. Another promising youngster with a bright future ahead. Clean head, good stop, kind expression from almond eyes, although slightly on the lighter side. Pendant ears lying fairly close to the head, Decent length of muzzle, correct dentition and flews. Nice length of neck leading onto a good front assembly, forechest developing nicely, with enough angulation for and aft. Nice top and underline giving an overall balanced outline. Moved out well, with purpose. Very nice tail shape and set which she held on the move. Good bone, and pasterns developing well. Shown in very good condition.

PB. (4,2) 1. Mattley, Miss H. Teigan Let it Bea.11mths. Larger, pretty, feminine girl who impressed me with her calmness and confidence as soon as she came into the ring. Excellent clean head, correct shaped pendant ears, close to the cheeks. Lovely calm, expressive dark, almond shaped eyes. Excellent length of muzzle and definite jaw line. Nicely shaped neck leading onto very good lay of shoulder, and overall a super front assembly. Excellent topline which she held on the move, going straight forward and back. Excellent rear angulation, hocks well let down. Although she is still developing, she is showing good balance when moving, with very good reach and drive and purpose. Lovely rich tan, correct coat and showing perfect triangles on the chest. Great tail set. In excellent condition, beautifully behaved and displaying a lovely temperament. I will watch her progress with interest. BPIS & RBBIB

2. Simpson, C. Rominjay’s Venus. 11mths. Nice looking girl, with a clean head, good stop and excellent ears, pendant shape and close to the cheek. Eyes dark and very slightly rounded giving an inquisitive and alert look. Forechest still developing, moderate front assembly leading to legs of correct length and proportion. Tight feet with very good pencil markings. Topline fairly straight sloping gently at the croup. Tail set and shape okay. Moderate rear angulation. She was quite unsettled today and didn’t do herself justice on the move. However, there were a few good instances of some nice reach and drive. Presented in good condition and well handled.

JB ((2) MCGough, Mr J. Taneven Dee Dee 14mths. Pretty, alert youngster with a clean head and correct stop. Nice pendant shaped ears, lying fairly close to the head. Eyes, slightly round but lovely and dark. Good length and shape of neck onto an excellent front assembly with correct angulation, and elbows tucked in nicely. Great length of topline which she held in the move. Well shaped loin and croup, with the correct tailset and shape. Very good bone leading to decent feet and showing correct pencil marks. Correct coat and colour. Moved with purpose and drive and straight coming and going. Well muscled, fit and in tip top condition.

2. Dobson, Miss M L. Chantavory’s Harleyquinn 14mths. Smart, pretty girl with a clean head, showing slight wrinkle when alert. Correct pendant ears, set high, lying relatively closely to the head. Correct dark, almond eyes, giving a lovely calm expression. Correct dentition and flews, decent length of muzzle and nice head proportions. Good neck leading to a decent front assembly with a developing forechest and moderate angulation. Good length of topline leading to a correct loin and croup. Tail held correctly and of good shape. Would like to see better developed 1st and 2nd thighs, but she was straight coming and going and held her topline on the move. Nice tight feet and correct pencil marks. Well handled and in excellent condition.

YB. (2,5)1. Clark,Mr K & Mrs G. Botlierskop Be Good To Me. 20 mths. Really attractive, calm girl with a lovely head type and calm expression and temperament. Good stop, nice wrinkle when alert, and small pendant ears, held fairly close to the head. Almond eyes of the correct colour and giving a tranquil gaze. Correct dentition and flews, giving a firm jawline and correct length of muzzle. Lovely length of neck onto a well developing forechest and lay of shoulder, leading to a slightly longer topline, which she held well on the move. Well off for bone, nice tight feet and good pencil marks. Moved okay, straight coming and going and showed enough reach and drive. Shown in lovely condition and generally attentive to her handler.

2.Hopgood,Mr D & Mrs P. Saintlythans Cleopatra. 22mths. Feminine, attractive girl with a typical clean head and expression. Decent stop. Nice ears, lying close to the head. Lovely dark eyes, slightly round but full of expression. Decent fill under the eyes, correct dentition and flews with a very good depth of muzzle. Lovely arched neck leading onto a well developing front assembly. Straight legs onto tight feet with well defined pencil marks. Excellent bone and a very good forechest. Reasonable rear angulation, decent length pasterns and hocks well let down. Slightly longer in body but maintaining a balanced outline on the move, showing very good purpose and drive, both fore and aft. Lovely rich tan, shown in excellent condition and overall, well put together.

PGB.(4,3) 1.Walton, Miss J. Chantavory’s Vixen 2yrs. Feminine girl with the kindest of expressions. Lovely clean head, correct shaped ears, lying close to the head which she used to her advantage. Dark almond eyes, with a calm gaze. Strong neck onto a very good front assembly with decent angulation and straight legs. Very well off for bone. Lovely tight feet and correct pencil marks. Very good depth of brisket. Moderate topline leading to a well developed croup and muscular loin. Moved freely with purpose showing reach and drive and was well balanced coming and going and around the ring. Lovely rich tan and shown in beautiful condition. Slightly unsettled today but overall, she presented a lovely outline. Excellent temperament and sympathetically handled.

LB (6.3) Dobson & Moss, Miss ML & Miss C. Chantavory Coco Chanel. 3yrs. Super pretty girl of correct proportions throughout and exuding a calm expression. Typical and classic head shape, decent stop, lovely dark almond eyes, small pendant shaped ears, well set and lying close to the head. Well arched neck, leading onto a super front assembly, straight legs and well off for bone. Nice tight feet, with correct pencil marks. Hocks well let down, decent length pasterns and overall, good angulation. Straight topline which she kept on the move. Showed real reach and drive, and held her tail correctly both on the move and whilst standing. Shown in excellent condition, and well handled. Lovely temperament. BBIB & BOS

2. Borne, Mr T & Mrs P. Starrosa Dance with me at Trevearl. 3 yrs. Feminine, pretty girl, with a lovely dark expressive eye and calm gaze. Clean head showing slight wrinkle when alert. Correct ear pendant shaped and set. Correct dentition and dark flews, nice length of muzzle and firm jawline. Lovely gentle arch to the neck, leading to a very good forechest , decent angulation, straight legs of correct length onto okay feet with the correct pencil marks. Strong topline which she held on the move. Slight slope on the croup but tail set and shape excellent. Moved okay. Straight coming and going but could have done with a bit more enthusiasm today! Lovely rich colouring and shown in excellent condition. Super temperament and overall a very attractive shape.

OB. (3,1) 1. Williams, Jones & Monk, Miss K. Mrs V. & Ms M. Westfalen Olearia Best Team with Kiarataz JW 2yrs. Lovely calm young lady with the gentlest of gaze from dark almond eyes. Skull of good width and clean head. Ears correct shape and used effectively. Correct dentition and dark flews, in a well defined jawline and having an excellent length of muzzle. Very good length of neck flowing into a well developed front assembly with a strong forechest and standing four square on tight feet. Well shaped croup onto a sabre tail, held correctly. Hocks well let down and good strong pasterns. An excellent bend of stifle and well developed 1st and 2nd thighs ensured that she moved gracefully yet enthusiastically around the ring, showing great reach and drive. Straight coming and going. Well defined markings. In beautiful condition and very attentive and willing for the handler.

2.Eyre & Moss, Mrs J. & Miss C. Ch. Chantavory Je Vous Amie 2yrs. A lovely strong girl, well made and with the most expressive face. Darkest of eyes, almond shaped, well placed and with good fill under the cheek. Correct dentition and dark flews, excellent muzzle length , well defined stop and pendant ears lying close to the cheek. Lovely shaped neck leading to well defined shoulders and forechest. Correct front assembly, standing on excellent bone and tight feet. Good deep brisket , with a level top and underline, giving her the ability to move with very good reach and drive, which she used effectively to power around the ring. Also straight coming and going. Shown in excellent condition with well defined markings. Today displaying her obvious delight to be in the ring!
