Breed: Gordon Setter and Irish Red and White Setter

Vulnerable Native Breeds Open Show

15th August 2026.

What a super show this is, fabulous fete style atmosphere – a real celebration of our wonderful breeds, my congratulations to all involved who make this such a super event.

Gordon Setter.

Puppy (0/0).

Junior (0/0).

Limit (3).

1. Hernwood Eternal Flame (Mr P & Mrs C A Sandiford). Stylish typical, feminine and symmetrical, of good size, with the depth to the skull and a roundness that we seek, was the most coordinated on the move and held her outline so very well, loved her for type and size, pleased to award her the class and ultimately BOB, beautifully handled.

2. Rhiwgerrig Caractacus by Melview (Mrs L Hall) A young male, just coming into his prime, a touch steep in stop for my preference, but he has a lovely coat of correct texture, deep in chest and well for bone, covered the large ring with considerable ease and was clean coming and going.

Open Dog (1).

1. Caradilis Carog Dubh (Miss J Bloxham) An upstanding gent, with the kindest disposition that really shone through, scored in head and expression, hocks well let down, good coat a touch longer in loin than some, much to like and will be interesting to watch him progress over time.

Open Bitch (2).

1. Sh Ch/Ir Sh Ch Caradilis Sparks Will Fly JW Cw'26 (Ms D & Mr A O’kelly & Hancock) A quality bitch that catches your eye immediately, well bent stifles, of lovely size, gives you the impression she could go all day, really scores in head and expression, correct proportions, clearly defined stop, and a lovely eye with correct medium-size ears. It was a pleasure to judge her, and I was pleased to award her RBOB.

2. Ronaldsbill Magic Stars of Niannseter (Mrs J A & Mr N Speed A rangier exhibit when compared with 1, not in the best of coats today, hocks well let down, good depth to chest and ribs well back with a shortness to her loin, lovely typical expression, not totally concentrating on the job in hand today.

Veteran (1).

1. Hernwood Christmas Prince (P & C A, D Sandiford & Mazzeo). For type, style and substance and silhouette this veteran male, who was full of enthusiasm would be hard to beat, his condition and coat, were immaculate and I adored his playful nature, on the move he was unsettled which denied him higher honours, his return to the ring after a break and it was a pleasure to seeing him enjoying his so much. BV.

Irish Red and White Setter.

Junior (0).

Postgraduate (0).

Limit (2/1).

1. Settersay Targaryen Lowdon (Miss V Jarvis). A two-year bitch of good size, strong but athletic, body was powerful and muscular and she had a deep chest, shown in great condition with good width of muscle to her first and second thigh, her skull was broad with a good amount of stop and she had a distinguished expression, moved well but not quite with the fluidity of the BOB winner. RBOB.

Open Dog (1).

1. Roanjora Cremant De Lux Copperwhite JW (Mrs L R Ward). A 3-year-old male just coming into his prime, he shows well and on the move his stride is free and long, he made easy work of the large outside ring. His chest was deep and broad and in head is masculine but there is a refinement which appealed, he was most attractive and shows himself to the very best of advantage, it was pleasure to assess him.
