MIDLAND CAIRN TERRIER CLUB OPEN SHOW 20 JUNE 26

I appreciated the invitation to judge at the Midland Cairn Terrier Club open show on 20 June 26 where a nice entry awaited me. The majority of exhibits were in good, hard condition. A few exhibits were placed lower than I had wished due to poor dentition.  

BABY PUPPY DOG/BITCH – 1

1. SAICH – LINDCOLY HEY GOOD LOOKIN NAF – nicely balanced puppy bitch, steady movement for her age. Presented in good coat and condition. Good bone and feet, pleasing head with correct bite. Showed well.

VETERAN DOG/BITCH – 5 – 1 AB

1. DENNIS, WAITES, GODDARD – CH. GOOD TIMES AHEAD WITH OUDENARDE – 7 years old, he has a workmanlike appearance, nice proportioned masculine, proportioned head. His eyes were of medium size and dark in appearance. He carried his ears erect, neck was well set on leading to good shoulders. Loin was strong and hindquarters were well angulated and muscled with hocks well let down, tail carriage was good. He was presented in good coat, movement was free with good drive from behind. BVIS, BIS.

2. LUND – CAIRNGOLD BRANDY SNAP BY JORVIKAIRN – nine years old, nice sized bitch, sporting a good coat, she has a nice feminine, proportioned head, broad skull and a strong muzzle. Nicely set on ears carried erect. She has a medium length body with a strong loin. Moved soundly.

PUPPY DOG – 1

1. GRIFFITHS – WONDERPAWS DARTH VADER – pleasing confident puppy. Proportioned head, with large strong teeth, correct bite set square. Muzzle was strong and his eyes were dark and of medium size. He has good ribs and a level topline and well angulated hindquarters, coat was good and he moved steadily. BPD BPIS

JUNIOR DOG – 1

1. SINCLAIR TOTHILL – TYCANDO STARBURST AT HREYSIHUS – nice size, topline was straight with a strong loin and hindquarters. Good length of neck, pleasing shaped head and ear carriage. Coat was good, showed well.

POST GRADUATE DOG – 2

1. SINCLAIR TOTHILL – TYCANDO QUICKSHOT - Nice outline and body length, masculine head with correct mouth, dark eyes and erect ears. He has good ribs and bone, muscled hindquarters and moved well both ways.

2. DENNIS WAITES GODDARD – SVENDALENS MOON STONE – presented in good coat, he has a level topline, good hindquarters and was active and alert. Proportioned head with a dark eye. Moved ok

LIMIT DOG – 4 – 1 AB

1. LUCAS TOBUTT – SEVEEK COUNTRY LAD – masculine head with a broad skull, nice dark eyes and black nose and erect ears. Medium length of neck and legs. Level topline with a stong loin. Coat was good, showed well.

2. MUNDAY – FURYTHOR RELUCTANT VILLAIN - similar lines to the winner, good coat, ribs and bone. Proportioned head, was alert and showed well.

3. LAMB – TYCANDO SHINING STAR AROUND MACMOON JW

OPEN DOG – 3

1. MUNDAY – LENTRICA MYSTIC WARRIER – he is a nice size and sporting a good coat, he is balanced in appearance with a strong loin, good bone and neat feet. Proportioned, masculine head, erect ears, medium sized eyes and a strong muzzle. Fair length of neck and well sprung ribs. Nice shaped tail. Coat was good, moved soundly. RBD

2. SAICH – LINDCOLY GOLDEN BUICK TAF – another dog of nice size and presented in good, toned condition. Coat was a good texture, topline was level and he has a nice tail. He has a balanced appearance, hindquarters were muscular and well angulated. Showed well, just preferred the front movement of the winner.

3. PARKIN – MOSSPUT INTO THE SHADOWS

SPECIAL BEGINNERS DOG/BITCH – 1

1. METCALF SAULT – CANNWOOD QUIET REFLECTIONS - nice size, good bone and tail set. She has a pleasing outline, proportioned head with erect ears. Showed well, rear movement could be more positive.

MINOR PUPPY BITCH – 1

1. PURVIS – MOSSPUR MADDIE – raw puppy, very confident and showy for her age. She has a proportioned head, good ear carriage and nice bone with neat feet. Her coat was good, as was her ribs and topline. Nice tail shape, moved soundly.

PUPPY BITCH – 1

1. PETTS – DOONRAE VISAGE – balanced in appearance, nice proportioned feminine head with correct ear carriage, dark eyes and black nose. Nice neck and shoulders with good ribs and bone. Nicely angulated hindquarters, good tail carriage. Although between coats, what was there was a good texture. Liked her a lot, unfortunate to meet the puppy dog in such good coat and a super showman. BPB

JUNIOR BITCH 4 – 1 AB

1. SAICH – LINDCOLY THIS IS THE ONE – feminine, proportioned head, nice ear placement and expression. She has a good length of neck and shoulders. Her coat was a good texture, topline was level with a strong loin. Nice tail carriage. Moved well both ways.

2. SHANNON STORR - BRENNDARCY SUPERTRAMP - She is nice for size and bone, pleasing head and dark eyes and neat feet. Pleasing in body and loin. Presented in good coat and condition, strong hindquarters. Preferred the ear carriage of the winner.

1. SHANNON STORR – BRENNDARCY DREAMER - nicely balanced in appearance, sporting a good coat. Feminine head with a strong muzzle and dark eyes. Good erect ear carriage, pleasing neck and shoulders. She is strong in loin and has well angulated, muscular hindquarters. Showed well and movement was sound both ways. RBB

2. FIRTH – GLENROOD SILENT WHISPER AT CAIRNGOLD – Lighter made than my winner. She has a proportioned head, good ear set and dark eyes. Nice length of neck and good ribs. Coat was a good texture, moved well.

3. WAUGH – TRIBANNON NANCY LOU -

LIMIT BITCH – 2

1. WRIGHT – BRENNDARCY SPELLBOUND FOR GLENNMONTE – nice head and expression, good ear carriage and dark eyes. Ok for bone, strong in loin, moved freely.

2. MUNDAY – FURYTHOR MARVEL AT ME – she was sporting a good coat, proportioned head with strong, muscular hindquarters. Movement was not a sound as winner.

OPEN BITCH – 5 – 3 AB

1. WAUGH – TRIBANNON ANGELS KISS – entering the ring she was very alert and game. She has a lovely proportioned head, good ear carriage and a strong muzzle with a nicely proportioned body. Loin was strong, ribs were correct. She has correct bone and neat feet and stood well forward. She is well angulated, hindquarters were nicely toned. Her coat was a good texture, nicely carried tail on the move. Her movement was sound both ways. She showed on a loose lead and has a typical Cairn appearance. BB RBIS BOS

2. SAICH – LINDCOLY LET IT BE – Nice feminine head, liked her size and proportions. She has good bone, feminine head and erect ear carriage. Topline was straight with a strong loin. Moved freely both ways.
