BIRMINGHAM & DISTRICT GUNDOG & TERRIER CLUB - 26TH SEPTEMBER 2026

ENGLISH SETTER

Thank you to the Officers and Committee for the opportunity to judge your open show, my Steward Jaqui and to the Exhibitors for your entries and excellent presentation and condition of your lovely dogs. A credit to you all.

PUPPY – 3(1)

1 – Adam’s Alolfrana Xclusive Party - 10 month Orange boy, Gleaming coat well grown puppy already showing much quality and confidence in the showring. Head of correct proportions with dark eye and melting expression, long lean neck into good shoulder placement and developing deep chest. Evidence of great bone and nice tight feet. Level topline and excellent bend of stifle. Rear movement positive driving well for one so young with constant wagging tail. A very happy chap. BP

2 – Corfield’s Indibrooke Freya – 10 month B/B & T girl, Dark developing coat smaller in build but of correct proportions. Pretty in head with lovely dark eye, good depth of chest, would have preferred slightly more front angulation, nice level topline and developing spring of rib adequate for age, rear movement okay hocks straight and strong, another happy girl when settled.

3 – Corfield, Corfield and Derry’s Balvenie Glen Douglas At Indibrooke.

JUNIOR – 1

1 – Stowell’s Bondgate Overdramatic – 15 month Blue boy, This boy was giving his handler a hard time but when settled impressed my eye. Masculine head, dark oval eye, long lean neck into well laid back shoulders, deep in brisket just needs to fill his frame now, level topline, nice bend of stifle, good tailset and carriage. When settled moved okay and used his muscular rear to benefit. Will look forward to seeing him as he gains more confidence and matures.

YEARLING – 2

1 - Reid’s Diersett Moon Of The Skies JW – 20 month Orange girl, This girl has improved greatly since I last judged her she is compact and in great proportion. Strong shoulders and deep in brisket, short level back, well sprung ribs well muscled and angulated in rear enabling her to move in a positive driven manner, used her wagging tail to advantage. RBOB

2 – Thacker’s Peritye Follow The Sun – 20 month Orange boy, Immaculate presented young boy who still needs to fill out as he matures, well proportioned head with good oval skull, nice dark oval eye and long lean neck into well laid back shoulders, would prefer a more level topline on the stack but appeared level in profile on the move, not as animated on the move today as I have seen him before from the ringside but it was a 2nd show of the day so maybe was a little fatigued.

POST GRADUATE – 1

1 – Hingley’s Wansleydale Bee Quick – 3 year B/B & T boy, mature well built boy, masculine head, good proportions neck very strong and muscular, good tight feet and bone, well sprung ribs level topline better front angulation than rear, movement today not very coordinated in rear but may need bigger ring to get into his stride.

LIMIT – 1

1 – Corfield’s Balvenie Loch Maree At Indibrooke – 3 year Orange girl, nice proportions to head oval eye, low set ears and correct scissor bite, good lean neck deep in brisket, elbows well in to body, decent spring of rib, short in body, good bend of stifle and well muscled second thigh, movement direct and true and tail carriage good on the move.

OPEN – 1,

1 – Seaman’s Mariglen Indigo – 5 year Dark Blue girl, this girl has matured nicely and impressed me today. Not a flashy girl but has the ring presence to display her correct construction and proportions. Pretty head, correct oval skull, dark oval eye and low set ears, lean neck into well laid back shoulders deep chest and good angulation front and rear, strong level topline excellent spring of rib deep in back rib, best tailset of the day, free and powerful drive on the move getting better as she settled could not deny her BOB.
