Clitheroe & District Kennel Association

Breed: Dogue de Bordeaux

My thanks go to the Clitheroe and District committee for the invitation to judge this fabulous breed for the first time and to the Southern Dogue de Bordeaux Society for the supported entry. While numerically small, I was delighted with the quality and temperaments of my exhibits on the day. Having exhibited at this venue myself many times, I know all too well that the floor surface can be challenging to some dogs but my exhibits coped well. Thanks also to Paris, my particularly efficient steward who kept everything running smoothly and to the local DDB community for their kind words and support.

Puppy (1,0)

1. Harrison's Cerisier Flash Dance

6 months old bitch and, I believe, her first show. For one so young, she certainly took it all in her stride displaying a very sweet and calm temperament. Correct bite and stop. Lovely head and expression. Well proportioned body, but of course with some maturing still to do, good feet and a good firm outline with a correct tail. Overall I just felt like there was a lot to like about this girl. She has all the right essentials and I am certain that she has a promising show career ahead of her – I will watch with interest. Pleased to award BPIB and delighted to see that she went on to take WPG3.

1. Judd's Tissie's Red Dawn

5 year old bitch. Mature and well developed. Correct bite and stop. Breed typical head. Broad in chest with good straightness to front legs. Well sprung ribs. Nicely angulated rear with well muscled thighs. She didn’t love the floor conditions, but I still felt she gave me the sound movement I was looking for. Correct tail set and carriage. Very likeable and a pleasure to go over. Overall presented a very balanced picture and a great example of the breed. Delighted to award her BOB.
