I would like to thank the officers and committee of this well run show for their kind invitation to judge the Utility breeds and group. I was delighted with the quality of the dogs presented before me. I was especially pleased to hear that my group winner went on to take RBIS and BPIS.

1st Place 53 - Afterglow Honey Monster at Sachemic (Miss S & Miss R & Mr T Speakman & Moores & Isherwood)

My star of the day, a super 10 month old apricot dog, presenting a picture of elegance with a distinguished, assured demeanour. Beautifully balanced when stood, with a handsome, refined head showing lovely chiselling, a dark almond eye carrying a hint of mischief. I found him well developed in body with depth to the brisket and a short, firm back. Using his well angulated hindquarters to power around the ring, he moved with positive footfall and a beautiful head carriage. Immaculately presented. Pleased to award him BP & BOB, Utility Group 1 and Puppy Group 1. Delighted to hear that he later went onto win RBIS and BPIS – Many congratulations

2nd Place 52 - Shantallah Florentine (Mrs A Howard)

Black bitch approaching 12 months, presenting a pleasing, shapely outline. Feminine head with a lovely dark eye. Not yet the body development of the winner, but balanced and proportionate for her age. Moving out cleanly with drive, showing promise.

Shapely 15 month old apricot bitch, showing good overall balance of outline. Feminine head with pleasing chiselling and a dark eye. Just needing to finish filling her frame to complete the picture. Holds a good topline and tail carriage. Moving out with purpose.

2nd Place 50 - Afterglow Life On Mars at Silvadeane (Mr R Holroyd)

Smart 15 month old black dog, unfortunate that he wasn’t quite on full form today. His outline when stacked was very appealing, with everything where it should be. Handsome head of good length and a dark eye. Has good depth and ribbing. Moved with good footfall, but the desired sparkle wasn’t there today

13 month old black dog who showed himself with confidence and style. Pleasing overall body proportions giving a lovely outline when stood. Handsome, masculine head of good length, with strength to the foreface, well chiselled, and a lovely dark almond eye, keen and alert in expression. Well bodied with good rear angulation. A little unsettled in his front action today, but he showed a super side gait and was beautifully presented. BOB

Lots to like about this 16 month old black bitch, full of confidence and mischief, with a balanced outline when stood. Most feminine of head, long and well chiselled, with a lovely dark almond eye. Good length of neck leading to a well developed brisket, short back and well set, well carried tail. Moved out soundly.

Super temperament on this 3 year old black dog, full of the joys with an ever wagging tail and a clear will to please. A more refined dog, showing good overall balance and proportions. Long, lean head with a dark eye and well placed leathers. Brisket well let down with a good spring of rib, and shown in lovely muscle tone. Not quite as tidy in front as the winner today on the move

Loved this 3 year old white dog; he has such presence and carries himself with real self assurance. Harmonious in his proportions, giving balance and a flowing outline. Handsome head, long and well chiselled, with a dark almond eye. Good length of neck into a short, strong back, with depth and spring to the ribcage. Strong, well bent, muscular hindquarters. True in his action in all directions. I only wish we had a bigger ring for him to show to full advantage. Presented to perfection BOB

2nd Place 55 - Rennkiss and Make Up JW (Miss J Dixon)

Smart and stylish 21 month old black bitch, typical and balanced in her outline. She has a lovely head and expression, with good length of neck and a pleasing flow from one part to the next. Depth to the brisket and well boned limbs into tight feet. Pleasing topline and tail set, with strong hindquarters. Not quite as clean in front today as the winner, but showing reach and drive in profile.

10 month old B/W dog who presents a shapely, athletic outline and is well developed for his age. Balanced headpiece with the right amount of width to the skull, well placed ears and dark oval eyes giving a keen yet kind expression. Good depth to the brisket, though still needing to finish maturing in front to complete the picture. Well sprung ribs and good bone, standing on tight feet. Shows a free, easy movement in profile. BP & Puppy Group 4

Smart and unexaggerated 13 month old B/W dog. He has the desired substance yet retains masculine elegance. Well balanced head with a good ear set and dark, inquisitive eyes. Nicely arched neck flowing into a well held topline, with a correctly set and carried tail. Depth and spring to the ribcage, and he stands on well boned limbs with compact feet. Moving out with drive and animation, maintaining his outline as he goes. BOB

1st Place 65 - Perdita's Tomorrowland JW ShCEx OSW (Mrs L Foster)

Very elegant 5 year old B/W bitch who presents a flowing outline on the stack. Most feminine of heads, with good width to the skull and strength to the foreface. Keen and alert expression from her dark oval eyes, complemented by well used ears. Good length of neck and depth to the brisket, and presented in lovely muscle tone. A shade close behind today, but she shows a flowing side gait and maintains her outline on the move.

2nd Place 66 - Cotterspot Swaledale Duke (Mrs A L Foxall)

5 year old B/W dog, built on a slightly smaller and more refined frame, yet presenting a shapely silhouette. Lovely outgoing nature with clear adoration for his handler. Pleasing head shape with well placed broken ears, dark eye and good pigmentation. Good length of neck and straight forelegs. Keeps a decent topline and moved with drive, showing enthusiasm and purpose.

Smart 10 month old B/S bitch, just right for size and balance, presenting a neat, cobby outline. Pleasing head, showing feminine strength and good length, complemented by a dark oval eye. Developing nicely in forechest, with a good ribcage for her age. Holds a firm topline to a well set and carried tail. A shade lose in front today, but showing lovely rear drive and maintaining her outline in profile. BP

16 month old B/S dog with good overall body proportions. Handsome head, showing the desired strength with a flat skull and moderate stop, his dark eyes giving an alert expression. Well developed in body with a good ribcage and depth. Nicely angulated hindquarters. A little untidy in front today, but true in his rear action.

2 year old B/S dog, beautifully presented and sturdy in his outline. Masculine head with good ear placement, flat skull and a dark oval eye. Good length of neck leading into a firm, well held topline. Plenty of depth to the body with a well made ribcage, and nicely angulated hindquarters. A little pinning in front today, but still showing good width behind with pleasing reach and drive. Coat of harsh texture, completing a tidy overall picture.

3 year old B/S dog with much to admire. Nearly square and sturdy, giving an impressive and typical outline, and sound in his overall construction. Unmistakably masculine head with the desired strength and length, with parallel planes. His strong neck of good length flows into a firm, well held topline, finishing with a correctly set and carried tail. Brisket well let down, with tight elbows and a good spring of rib to a short, strong loin. He put his muscular hindquarters to good use, driving effectively around the ring and maintaining his shape in profile. BOB & Group 3

Delightful 12 month old B&W bitch, liked her overall size, type and substance, with an outgoing attitude. Pleasing feminine head with good width to the skull, strength to the muzzle and a correct bite. Well bodied, with good width in front and well let down in brisket. Using her hindquarters to drive around the ring showing full pads, carrying her head and tail well. Beautifully presented in a dense topcoat. BOB

Sturdy and well put together 4 year old gold & white dog, showing good balance and proportions. Masculine head, broad with a good stop and strong square muzzle, his dark round eyes giving a gentle yet alert expression. Well developed in body with good ribbing and depth, finishing with a well plumed tail. Not really giving his all on the move today, but true in his action and maintaining his outline.

Very smart 11 month old red dog, presenting a sturdy yet shapely silhouette. Loved his keen and alert demeanour. Pleasing headpiece, showing the desired blunt triangle with well developed cheeks and obliquely set dark almond eyes carrying a hint of mischief. Well developed in body with a well let down brisket and elbows close to the body. Moving with a light, easy action whilst holding his shape. Coat of good texture, completing a very appealing youngster. BOB & BP & Puppy Group 3

Eight-month-old bitch, happy and outgoing, very much still a baby. Pleasing overall size and femininity, just needing time to mature and grow into herself. She has a very sweet head and expression, with dark eyes full of mischief. Good length of neck flowing into a firm topline and well-set tail. Needing time to develop in ribcage and forechest. Standing on nicely boned limbs with neat feet. Moving with positive footfall and showing promise for the future.

1st Place 82 - Mooiekooi’s Dolly Dodge (Mrs G & Miss C Cambridge & Skjonberg)

Coming up to four years of age, she was unfortunately not as settled in the noisy hall today. A fraction longer in overall outline. Pretty head, showing a slight wedge, definite stop and dark almond-shaped eyes. Well-feathered ears frame her face, enhanced by lovely black tips. Good length of neck leading into a firm, level topline and good spring of rib. Not quite as clean in front action today, but she still showed a flowing side gait.

Super bitch, just shy of her ninth birthday, looking in fine fettle and full of confidence, keen and alert to her handler. She is of a lovely overall size with good balance. Feminine head with a slight wedge shape, good length of muzzle and dark almond-shaped eyes. Lovely black tips to her well-feathered ears. Holding a firm, level topline both standing and on the move, with a decent spring of rib. Well set-on tail, the white plume carried just above the level of the back. Moved out with positive footfall and a typical springy gait. BOB

Quality 11-month-old B&W bitch, sturdy yet so very feminine, with a lovely flow to her outline. Her character shines through at all times. Well-balanced head with a dark oval eye, correct amount of muzzle and a good bite. Well developed in body, with good depth and ribbing. Holding a firm, level topline both stood and on the move complemented by a high-set, well-carried tail. Looked a picture on the move, being free in her action – BP & BOB & Puppy Group 2

15-month-old black and white dog, another quality youngster who presents a pleasing and balanced outline when standing. Masculine head with a dark oval eye and kind expression. Lovely bone and substance, with a good length of neck, well-filled forechest and good spring of rib. Firm and level topline flowing into a well-set and well-carried tail. Moving well in profile, displaying good reach and drive; however, today I preferred the front action of his kennel mate. Presented in beautiful coat and condition.

Very smart 13-month-old black & tan dog whom I considered a balanced youngster with much to admire. He displays the typical square outline. Well-proportioned head, lovely round dark eye and a keen, alert expression. Strong neck and nicely developed in body for his age. Holds a firm topline with good tail carriage. Just a little unsettled in his front action today. Presented in lovely coat and condition.

22-month-old bitch, just right for size, balance and proportions, giving the desired square outline. Nothing is overdone and she presents a harmonious picture throughout. Feminine head with a kind yet keen expression. Compact in body with a well-developed ribcage. Today she tended to lose her topline slightly at times, but showed good drive and purpose in profile movement.

Sturdy and well-built seven-year-old dog who presents an impressive outline when stacked. I particularly liked his size, substance and masculinity. Balanced in outline, displaying a square and unexaggerated silhouette. His head is well proportioned, with a good stop and large, dark eyes giving a pleasing expression. The neck flows seamlessly into a well-held topline and nicely carried tail. Well developed in body, with good depth of brisket and a strong loin. Moved with effortless style, exhibiting good reach and drive. Well presented. BOB & Group 4 & BV Utility. Delighted to hear he later went onto win RBVIS - Congratulations

Eight-month-old bitch and a pleasing youngster with much promise, liked her overall body proportions. Feminine, wedge-shaped head with a good stop and lovely dark oval eyes, complemented by black pigmentation. Well developed in body for her age, with straight forelegs leading to neat, tight feet. Presented in a profuse coat, just needing a little more confidence to show herself to full advantage.

Quality three-year-old dog who caught my eye on entering the ring, possessing natural presence and a keen, alert demeanour. Standing, he presents a lovely balance of body proportions and an overall pleasing outline. Handsome wedge-shaped head with a moderate stop and neat, well-placed ears. Good length of neck flowing into a firm, level topline, finished by a nicely high-set plumed tail carried correctly over the back. Brisket reaching to the elbow with well-sprung ribs. He did not disappoint on the move, covering the ground with clean, true, light and brisk action. Beautifully presented in full bloom. – BAVNSC & Group 2

2nd Place 98 - Penksides Dexta Daps among Maxibulz, Breed: Bulldog (Mrs M Sharkey)

Strong and powerful two-year-old red and white dog. Standing, he portrays a picture of strength, balance and substance. Broad, square head with well-developed cheeks, a well-defined stop and short foreface, finished with wide nostrils. Strong, muscular neck flowing into a well-made body. Chest broad and deep, with good ribbing and substance throughout. Stands on well-boned limbs with compact feet. Held the correct topline both standing and on the move.

Super eight-year-old red dog who gave an excellent performance and close up to winner. When standing, he displays balanced body lines combined with sound construction. Typical blunt triangular head with well-developed cheeks, dark almond-shaped eyes and small, pricked ears, giving a keen and alert expression. His slightly arched neck flows into a firm topline, with a brisket well let down and straight forelegs. Wide, muscular hindquarters, which he put to good use on the move, displaying light, effortless action and energetic strides. Presented in excellent coat and condition.
