Torquay & District Canine Society

I would like to extend my sincere thanks to Torquay & District Canine Society for the kind invitation to judge the Hound breeds. My gratitude also goes to the committee for their warm hospitality, the venue for providing an excellent lunch, and to my efficient steward, Tracey Hill, who ensured the ring ran smoothly throughout the day. I was very pleased with the overall quality of the entries and would like to thank all exhibitors for bringing their dogs under me. While I did not encounter any significant faults, I did feel that the general movement of some Beagles and Dachshunds could have been improved. However, I was generally delighted with the high standard presented.

Borzoi:

O (3,0) 1 LOGINVENKO’S, LYNX FASTER THAN LIGHT OF NOLDOLI JW (IMP SWE), 2 year old WHITE & CREAM D, An absolutely well balanced dog, combining grace, dignity and elegance with underlying strength and power. Presented a beautiful outline with correct slight rise over the loin and overall harmonious proportions. Head long and lean with skull and muzzle in correct balance. Elegant neck flowing into well laid shoulders and sound forequarters. Chest deep with good brisket development. Hindquarters strong and well muscled, providing drive and propulsion. On the move he was very impressive, light, elastic and ground covering while maintaining a noble carriage. Coat of correct silky texture, well presented without excess. BOB. 2 PINKERTON & CATTONI-SARMAN & ALLENBY’S, MENIGMA REY’S INFATUATION JW, 21-month-old WHITE & GOLD D, Another quality dog who made this a very hard class to judge. Slightly longer in muzzle which affected overall balance when compared to the winner, but still a pleasing head and expression. Forequarters sound and body well constructed with good depth and shape. Coat longer and well presented. Movement free and ground covering with good drive. RBOB.
