Torquay & District Canine Society

Breed: Hamiltonstovare

I would like to extend my sincere thanks to Torquay & District Canine Society for the kind invitation to judge the Hound breeds. My gratitude also goes to the committee for their warm hospitality, the venue for providing an excellent lunch, and to my efficient steward, Tracey Hill, who ensured the ring ran smoothly throughout the day. I was very pleased with the overall quality of the entries and would like to thank all exhibitors for bringing their dogs under me. While I did not encounter any significant faults, I did feel that the general movement of some Beagles and Dachshunds could have been improved. However, I was generally delighted with the high standard presented.

Hamiltonstovare:

O (2,1) 1 ADEY’S, ABON SFORA NORDOWSKIEJ KNIEJI AT RUBEUSBAY (IMP POL) ShCEx, 4 year old D, A very pleasing dog of excellent general appearance and true Hamiltonstövare type. Presented the correct rectangular outline with strong yet athletic build. Head and skull well proportioned and clean, preferred in this respect over the second, with good expression and nice eyes. Forequarters sound and well placed, body well developed with firm, level topline and good depth of chest. Hindquarters strong and balanced. On the move he was effortless, covering the ground freely with drive from behind and reach in front. Coat of correct texture with clear and distinct division between the black and tan markings. BOB. 2 ADEY’S, THE HUNTRESS FROM SUFAYRE, 3 year old B, A feminine bitch of overall pleasing appearance. Muzzle not quite as correct in proportion as the winner which slightly affected overall balance. Finer in bone but still maintaining correct outline. Movement sound and free, covering the ground well. A quality exhibit who just lacked the strength and head properties of the winner on the day. RBOB.
