Bridgwater & District Canine Society

Breed: Dalmatian

I would like to thank Bridgwater & District Canine Society for the kind invitation to judge, and the committee and helpers for their hard work in making the day such a success. My thanks also go to my efficient steward, Hollie Wood, who kept the ring running smoothly throughout. I was very happy with my entries overall and appreciate the support of all exhibitors who brought their dogs under me. Although I was not originally scheduled to judge Irish Setters, due to several changes of judge and the need for a Level 2 JEP qualified judge to cover the classes, I was asked to step in. I would therefore like to extend my particular thanks to the Irish Setter exhibitors for their understanding and for exhibiting under me, especially as I judged the breed at this show last year.

Dalmatian:

P (2,0) 1 EDENS’, DALENS JEWEL IN THE CROWN, 10-month-old WHITE WITH BLACK SPOTS D, A well balanced and promising puppy of good temperament. I preferred his head and skull, showing correct proportions with a flat skull and sufficient foreface. He presents a nicely proportioned body with good outline for his age and stands over enough ground. Movement was free and rhythmic with a longer stride than the second, showing better coordination and drive which won him the class in a very close decision. Overall a very pleasing youngster with a bright future. RBOB & BPIB. 2 BRIDGE & MEYER’S, TAMILANDA STAROPRAMEN FOR AKONI, 6-month-old WHITE WITH LIVER SPOTS D, Another very nice puppy of good general appearance and correct type. Slightly less mature than the winner which showed today, particularly in movement which was more typical of a younger puppy and lacked the same fluency and stride. Pleasing size and outline with a nice coat and overall balance. One to watch as he develops. J (1,1) 1 EDENS’, DALENS JEWEL IN THE CROWN. PG (1,2) 1 SMART’S, WIBMEISTER REMY AT COASTALCOVE, 18-month-old WHITE WITH BLACK SPOTS D, A dog of fair general appearance with a balanced outline. Head of good length with correct proportions and clean lines. Forequarters adequate with straight front and sufficient bone. Body shows good depth and ribbing with a level topline. Hindquarters well muscled with good turn of stifle. On the move he showed reasonable stride, although front action could be more fluent and rear movement was not at its best on the day. O (3,2) 1 DAVIES’, MADDIDALLI TRUE LOVES KISS JW, 19-month-old WHITE WITH BLACK SPOTS B, Caught my eye immediately for her overall balance and quality, presenting a very pleasing and symmetrical outline. Lovely head of correct length with good proportions and clean lines, and a good mouth. Neck of good length flowing into well laid shoulders. Body strong with good depth of chest, well sprung ribs and a firm topline, giving an excellent overall picture. Hindquarters well developed and providing drive. At times could be a little unsettled on the move, but showed enough reach and stride when settled to demonstrate her quality. Coat in excellent condition and of correct texture. A very balanced bitch who stood out for overall type. BOB. 2 DAVIES’, MADDIDALLI RIVER SONG, 6 year old WHITE WITH BLACK SPOTS B, A bitch of fair general appearance. Head finer than the winner which affected overall balance when compared. Forequarters and hindquarters adequate with sufficient construction. Movement was sound and steady with a more consistent action on the day, however lacked the overall quality, strength and presence of the winner.
