Dachshund critiques – Judge Jacky Hunt (Drakkina)

Thank you to the society for inviting me to judge all 6 verities of Dachshund at this lovely show. Although it was fairly warm, it was a little windy on the day and some of the dogs didn’t apricate the noise the tape used to mark out the rings made in it. All in all, though I was pleased to have some very happy hounds to go over, with only 1 smooth that was too nervous for me to evaluate it, which was a great shame as it moved with good drive and reach and had a good silhouette when stacked.

Dachshund - Standard Long Haired

P (1) 1 Mr D Roberts – Swansford Orlandodor. A shaded red dog of 10 months. A lovely example of the breed, he has an excellent head of good proportions, a good dark eye of correct shape, nice ear set with well shaped ears, a neck of good length which flows nicely into the withers, well laid back shoulders with good angulation giving a good length of reach and nice tight elbows, a good prominent prosternum, a long keel and very tidy underline, good ground clearance, good ribbing with a strong loin, with a level topline, well-muscled and angulated hind quarters giving plenty of drive. Parallel when moving to and away although was a little unsettled on the day due to the wind and noisy tape around the classes. Presented in super condition with a lovely glossy coat. Although he stood alone, I was happy to give him BOB & BP

O (3) 1 Mrs F M Hinwood – Longmel Courvoisier Truffle. A Red dog of 2 years and 8 months.
