Judge Samantha Goldberg

Thank you to the club for the kind invitation to judge your show and the warm welcome on the day with a traditional pie and peas lunch. An excellent entry and the exhibitors were very sporting. I thoroughly enjoyed judging your whippets.

MPD (4,2)

1 Kemp’s Saraquelle Smooth Criminal-a hard decision between these two pups. On the day this brindle male was more settled on the move, although raw and not yet mature in depth of ribcage, his outline flows. Long lean, balanced head with oval eye, and correct fine ears. He has super bone and feet and a good tuck up. Well let down hocks and a good width of thigh driving to cover ground well on the move.

2 Coulter & Craig’s Collooney Take on the Devil, another promising puppy not quite so settled on the move but has an easy stride, good feet and bone with a sloping pastern. His ears have not settled yet but he has a well arched neck and curvy topline with muscled quarters developing.

PD (2,1)

1 Dillon’s Citycroft Not My First Rodeo at Runforest BD, BOS and BPIS

This puppy although standing alone in his class really filled the eye. He is elegant and graceful in outline and flows from nose to tail. He already has a well arched neck, depth of ribcage and a curvy rise over his topline leading to a correct tail set. Lovely feet and stands well over ground. He moved with poise around the ring with excellent profile movement, I am sure as he matures he will continue to win. BPD, BD, BOS and BPIS.

JD (1)

1 Ellams’ Buddy Big Boy a well muscled dog, shown in good body condition. He has a good topline and correct tail set, and moved out accurately but I would like a little more drive.

ND (5,2)

1 Dillon’s Citycroft Not My First Rodeo at Runforest-1st PD

2 Blenkarn’s Crosscop Happy Valley of Hareghyll-a well muscled male standing over ground with an elegant muscular neck, good depth of ribcage and really good width of thigh. On the move he was unfortunately pacing part of the time so a change of pace may advantage him.

3 Coulter & Craig’s Collooney Take on the Devil

SpBD (4)

1 Hutchinson’s Zenobia Just an Illusion with Sweetaurora JW Best SpBIS-I have judged this male before as a puppy and he has matured into a quality male. He has a well proportioned balanced head, oval eye and muscular neck down to a well laid shoulder. Good infill and depth of ribcage, curving up to a strong muscled loin. He was very well handled to move out around the ring and happy to award Best Special Beginner.

2 Spicer’s Jothyrn Muchacho-a shorter dog overall than 1, correct ear set and fine in texture. He has good depth of ribcage but would like a little more length to stand over ground. Shown in fit condition and good muscling and width to thigh.

3 Blenkarn’s Crosscop Happy Valley of Hareghyll

GD (4)

1 Price’s Kierpark Its Now or Never Among Silkdance JW-this male was the best for overall balance in the class. He had easy striding, ground covering movement on good feet and bone. He has an excellent rib cage with good brisket and depth, flowing top and under line and graceful arch over the loin.

2 Fleming’s Flerrow Watergrove Wonders-sympathetically handled to get the best out of him. He has good infill of chest, depth of ribcage, curvy in outline and well muscled. His front construction is more upright than 1 and this showed in his movement with a shorter stride.

3 Mallinson’s Edenwhip Oregano JW

PGD (3)

1 Winkley-Balmer & Winkley’s Bohosoul Firestarter by Edenwhip RBD. My notes say a fawn dog with S’s all round and best ground covering mover in the class. He has a balanced head with ears neatly back, a well filled front and deep brisket. His topline curves up over the loin to a very muscled back end. A balanced masculine dog.

2 Spicer’s Jothryn Parti Time- well arched feet and sloping pastern which moved him out well around the ring. Not quite the depth of ribcage or layback of shoulder as 1 but he has a good length of rib and well muscled loin.

3 Blenkarn’s Penwincoed Major North of Hareghyll

LD (3,1)

1 Price’s Kierpark Moonlight Shadow among Silkdance JW-a male with a curving balanced outline, good bladed bone and tight feet on sloping pasterns. His arched neck flows into his topline and strong muscled loin. His footfall was perfect and he moved out with enthusiasm.

2 Hope’s Demerlay on a Promise-this male moved out well in profile with a correct footfall, driven by an excellent width of thigh and second thigh. A well laid shoulder and deep rib cage but could have a stronger pastern in front.

OD (3,1)

1 Brooks’ Collooney For Your Eyes Only JW-a dog I have judged before but unfortunately unsettled today which cost him in the challenge. He has matured into a masculine dog with an excellent shoulder placement arising from an elegant neck and leading into a flowing topline. He has a good length of ribcage, muscled loin and quarters which drove him around the ring with accurate footfall.

2 Coleman’s Rogansrock Born Lucky for Silurian-this veteran is still in excellent condition with no lack of muscle. I must commend his owner that he has super clean teeth for his age. Good depth of ribcage but shorter length overall compared to 1 and this showed in his shorter strides on the move.

VD (3)

1 Brooks’ Penwincoeds Own Jack Sprat BVD-a very sound boy still with an appealing head and neat fine ears into a muscular neck. He has a good balance of ribcage to correctly placed rise over the loin and curving tuck up. Good tight feet and although pasterns not as strong through age he still moved out the soundest in this class.

2 Hope’s Demerlay Charming Charlie-a bit unsettled and flying his ears today. Good angulation in profile and well laid shoulder, correct topline and muscled hind quarters. Moved well in profile but on the up and back was pinning a little.

3 Coleman’s Wakebarrow Willow Herb at Silurian

Racing/Lure D (1)

1 Jenkinson & Elliott’s Coppermow Harfang Avec Elstoto-carrying the most muscle today and showing his fitness well with very good definition over the hind quarters propelling him on the move. Good infill and depth of ribcage and pronounced tuck up. Would like him a little longer in loin to cover ground more. Best Racing/Lure In Show

Racing/Lure B (1)

1 Caunce’s Ryamber Miss Moneypenny-out of smaller mould than the other exhibits today. A nine year old retired from racing shown in hard condition and moved at one with her owner. Pretty head and oval eye.

VB (6,1)

My notes say a class of fit seniors!

1 Wilkinson’s Citycroft Starfall JW VW ShCEx OSW- A very appealing head and expression with good balance, elegant arched neck flowing into topline. Good layback of shoulder and long ribcage with good depth. Good infill and curve of tuck up. Strong tight feet, hocks well let down and standing over ground. She moved out well with good forward reach and well deserved RBB and BVIS

2 Turner’s Gilnockie Have Faith-another fit senior with plenty of muscle. Long muscular neck, and well laid shoulder. Tight well arched feet and well muscled thigh. Not quite the topline of 1 but good depth of ribcage and good tuck up.

3 Cardus’ Tamalden Dare Devil at Dalzeah

MPB (6,4)

1 Kemp’s Saraquelle Smooth n Sassy BPB-My notes say all of a piece!. A very promising puppy with an appealing head and expression. Arched neck leading into a well laid back shoulder, good return of upper arm and down to good tight feet. Already good depth of chest and nice tuck up. Looked well with the dog puppy in the challenge and lost out on maturity over the body. BPB

2 Burton’s Loroli Devil in the Detail-This was another very promising puppy, less mature on the day and needs to settle in front movement but I liked her for type with a bonny head and expression, ears just need to settle to give the full balanced picture. Flowing topline and matching underline. Well let down hocks and I am sure will do well in future.

PB (4,2)

1 Roth-Brown’s Edenwhip Daydream Believer-up to size this puppy is mature for her age and more together on the move which won her the class. Elegant neck and tight feet below a gently sloping pastern on her forehand and well let down hocks behind. Good length of ribcage and well muscled loin.

2 Burton’s Loroli Devil in the Detail

JB (1)

1 Mallinson’s Edenwhip a Moment In Thyme- a pleasing size, this bitch was shown to advantage. She has a reachy neck into a well laid shoulder, which flows into a curvy topline. Well muscled thigh and second thigh with well let down hocks. She stood over ground well on the stack and moved out freely in profile.

NB (8,5)

1 Burton’s Loroli Devil in the Detail-stood away in this class.

2 Fleming’s Kenesqui Moldova-shown and handled very well, she has good head planes and arched neck. A tad steep in shoulder and moved rather wide in front today. Well muscIed hind quarters, and well let down hocks. I would prefer a longer ribcage and loin as she is a little short overall.

3 Caunce’s Ryamber Miss Moneypenny

SpB (5,1)

1 Fry’s Jothyrn Rebelled in Joy-she won this class on balance. A pretty bitch with a balanced head. Good tight feet, correct spring of pastern and straight front. Nice depth of ribcage and very well muscled loin. She covered the ground with freedom showing her flowing top and under line.

2 Kerr’s Udalie Du Menuel Galopin (Imp Fra)-a finer boned bitch but still a good shape with curves in the right places. Elegant neck with just enough arch topped by a long lean head. Feet very tight and a tad upright through the front compared to 1. Good hind angulation and well muscled, today she moved closer behind going away than 1

3 Fleming’s Kenesqui Moldova

GB (4,2)

1 Coulter’s Collooney Strawberry Wine-Overall balance pleasing with good depth of ribcage and defined tuck up. Pretty head and correct eye. Ground covering movement in profile but a little unsteady in front in this hall. Preferred her freedom of movement to 2

2 Winkley-Balmer & Burton’s Edenwhip Moonstruck-decent depth but shorter in ribcage and loin than 1 so not covering as much ground on the move. Well arched neck and fair muscle to thigh.

PGB (5,2,1transfer to Open)

2 Kerr’s Udalie Du Menuel Galopin (Imp Fra)-2nd in Spec BegB

LB (7,1)

1 Winkley-Balmer & Burton’s Edenwhip See her Sparkle-this bitch really filled my eye. Her head has the long lean look and just a little stop. Her neck flowed into her shoulder and her topline starts in the right place with a flowing curve. Good length of rib and from the lowest point curves up to a lovely S tuck up. Strong quarters and a curving stifle to her well let down hocks. She moved out with freedom, throwing her front legs forward with a great side gait. In the challenge she kept drawing my eye and I was very pleased to award her BB and then BIS

2 Coulter’s Collooney Strawberry Wine-1st in GB

3 Carr’s Jothyrn True Way Love

OB (5+1transfer,3)

1 Salkeld & Graham’s Dalerafenn Follow a Dream JW-She won this class on profile and balance with a good depth of ribcage and extending back to give plenty of heart and lung room. Soft feminine head and fine ears. Short muscled loin curving to excellent quarters which showed in her driving movement.

2 Wilkinson’s Silkridge Saffron of Fletchgate-another quality bitch who has a good depth of rib and infill. Elegant muscular neck leading down to gently curving topline and well muscled thigh. Could have tighter feet in front but well arched behind.

3 Caunce’s Ryamber Miss Moneypenny
