Pontypridd & District Canine Premier Open show

2nd May 2026

Spaniel (Cocker), Spaniel (English Springer), Spaniel (Welsh Springer), Spaniel (Irish Water), Retriever (Chesapeake Bay), Irish Red and White Setter, German Shorthaired Pointer, German Wirehaired Pointer, Hungarian Vizsla, Hungarian Wirehaired Vizsla and Weimaraner.

Many thanks to Martin Sanders and the rest of his hard-working team, in asking me to judge at their show. Although a little disappointing in the number of exhibits to choose from, with some breeds not having any entries, it is very understandable when you see that there are several shows on the same day or within two days of this show. One show being at the same venue! Therefore, I commend Martin et al, for bringing in the numbers that did chose to enter and attend.

Many thanks to Alan and Tracy who ran the ring so very and ensured that all paperwork was immaculately kept.

A lovely, carpeted ring awaited the judging of several proficient examples of their breed. Although numerically lower in some breeds, I was delighted to note the standard of several of the charges, that I am sure either have done or will do very well at championship shows. It was also lovely to see several young dogs showing their worth, well. These are or will be, snapping at the heels of several of the more experienced charges. Many thanks to you all for coming under me.

Cocker Spaniel

Class: 135 – Puppy (3,0)

This was a fabulous start to my day with a beautiful class of three exhibits that I would have liked to have taken home. All with merits that different judges will find more favourable that the other.

1. 175 – Lewis’s ALISMA ARYANNA – bitch of 7 months with a darker blue roan coat of super contrast that was instantly eye catching. Everything was in balance with rest of this lovely, young charge. Very pretty in head, super soft, feminine and refined. Balance in skull to muzzle ratio with appealing planes. Nicely clean in finish to end of muzzle that was assisted by a large black nose, in keeping with colouration to rest of charge. Prominence to stop that was not harsh, and retained the feminine appearance. This was ably assisted by the appropriate amount of workings beneath darkest of brown, full eye that blended into her coat well. Lovely shape to back of skull that fit the hand well. Lobular ears of correct length hung neatly next to a neck that was harmonious in measurement compared to the rest of this young girl. This was quite muscular in appearance and sat neatly into well laid shoulders of balanced proportions. Down at elbow and width seen to chest. Already showing good bone. Super spring to ribs and well covered. So strong in loin, that was level, which lead into a gentle sloping croup from end of loin. Proportionate in width to thigh which produced that typical cocker rear. Good bend at stifle that she used as a cheat code on the move. She won the class on her movement as it was beautiful to see. Her tail did not stop wagging, as she showed typical bustling action. Excellent attitude and well-schooled even for a young age. Upright in hocks and good width on the up and back. This is a super little one that if her development continues, will be a fab prospect for the future. Happy to award BP and see go PGrp 3.

2. 166 – Craig’s ALISMA ADRIANNA – bitch of 7 months and presented beautifully in a dark blue roan. This was litter sister to my 1st in class, with again so much to like and shared a lot of her qualities. She was only just pipped to 1st. Slightly more cobby in outline, which I was particularly keen on. Square in muzzle that had an appealing finish. Equal in proportions of cranium to muzzle length, indicated by a well-positioned stop of good prominence. This separated such dark rimmed, darkest of brown eyes. Correct in workings beneath eye and clean in cheek. Along with a lovely raise to brows, these all came together to give a beautiful expression. Again, a lovely finish to to occiput. Ears well placed in line with eye and of excellent length. These were super silky and hung well next to a muscular, moderate, neck. These pleasingly eased into very well-laid shoulders, that showed excellent angulation and proportions. Very appealing width to front, with good prominence to prosternum. Good amount of bone was seen throughout. Thoracic cavity down at elbow, strong and compact, giving that typical cobby feeling. Level in topline, with short loin. Lovely roundness to rear, with angulation in keeping with that of front. Good width seen to rear. Moved with a good action on the up and back. On the around showed true footfall. Had to split hairs between her and her litter sister. Only just pipped on ring attitude, but I am sure this will come. A very typie bitch and super pretty. If the rest of the litter is anything like 1st and 2nd here today, the breeder should be very proud. Another I will want to follow her progress, as she will go far.

3. 178 – Proudler’s KIMAPA KUROMI KARROT- a very honourable mention for this youngster. Lovely action on the move.

Class: 136 – Junior (4,1)

1. 167 – Craig’s RIONDEL AMADEUS AT ALISMA – what a fab 17-month dog. Instantly eye catching in a beautifully presented dark blue roan coat of real quality. A picture of balance and cobbiness, even at this young age. Couldn’t have wished for a better expression. Absolutely melting soft, yet still alert. This came from a beautifully dark eye that matched his dark coated head. This was surrounded by super workings beneath the eye on clean cheeks, lovely prominence to brows that he used to his advantage, that were given rise from a prominence to stop that was so pleasing and not too wide. These favourable points wouldn’t have been so great without the stop sitting at the mean point on his head showing good ratio to skull and muzzle. The latter having a lovely square appearance and brilliant finish. Another with a great finish to occipital protuberance. Ears set well, in line with that lovely dark eye, and showing length. Moderate neck showed muscularity and cleanliness, in keeping with a male. Super transition into well laid shoulders that were fine at point. Well boned throughout that was easily seen in his good front assembly. Well angulated, straight in front and of good width. Loved the prominence to prosternum. The body followed the breed standard so well that it became a list of his attributes. Strong, compact, deep chested, well sprung ribs, short loin that had width and level topline that sloped towards the tail form end of loin. He also showed that typical cocker bottom that was well rounded and muscular, even at this young age. Balanced in width to upper and second thigh that also showed good angulation from bend at stifle. On the move I couldn’t fault him. True bustling action no matter what I asked of him. Upright in pasterns and good width behind on the away. Good action on the to, with appealing head carriage. So merry and happy on the around. He had everything I was looking for in a Cocker today and he is still only 17 months. Happy to award BOB and so happy to that he also gained Grp 3.

2. 172 – Harvey’s TOMERINE NIGHT AGENT – A dog of 13 months of age, that was presented in beautiful black coat. Wonderfully soft expression that was like pools of black, very much in keeping with that lovely coat. Prominence to eye and so tightly rimmed by black pigmented lids. Good workings below eye that only assisted to accentuate that softest of expression. Overall, more robust in appearance than my class winner, even when considering a male vs, a female. Lovely masculine head construction, with a stop of appealing prominence. Squared finish to muzzle. Well-placed ears and good reach of neck with seamless transition into well-placed shoulders. Very masculine in overall appearance, with decent bone seen throughout without being coarse. Straight in front, which was lovely to see, that stood on firm well-made feet. Well sprung ribs, but a little longer cast than my winner of class, but still strong and showing balance throughout. In stance he holds a firm topline, and very good hindquarters with excellent turn of stifle. Short hock and sound in pasterns coming and going. Moved with good reach and drive. Showed lovely character enabling ring presence. I feel a little more development is to come from this young man.

3. 164 – Brookes’s BRUXLY CASANOVA.

Class: 137 – Post graduate (4,1)

1. 180 – Proudler’s KIMAPA KWACKERS KWTCH – 2.5-year-old bitch that was presented well in a liver roan coat and in lovely condition. Very appealing in the stack, showing a very feminine, balanced profile. Immediately catching the eye with her very soft, kind, feminine expression. This came from her full dark brown eye, that was tightly rimed, harmonising beautifully with her coat colour. Gentle rise to stop that separated the eyes well, which was enhanced by fluting. These sat well on a lovely head with pleasing head planes, well-developed skull, square muzzle and low ear set. These hung neatly next to a moderate neck that flowed into well laid shoulders, with good front angulation and a pleasing forechest. Her legs well boned and correctly placed beneath her. Compact, deep through the body with well sprung ribs. Short coupled with a strong loin and sound hindquarters showing a good bend at stifle. Tail well set and constantly wagging. It did not stop, which was so pleasing to see. Full of exuberance and excellent disposition. On the move she showed super typical bustling action, moving true fore and aft with good reach and drive, covering the ground easily. RBOB.

2. 176 – Lewis’s ROCKYPOINT RAFFLES - 3-year-old dog that I have had the pleasure of going over previously and have liked for some time. Maturing nicely. Very pleasing in profile and presented in a dark blue-roan coat of excellent texture. Absolutely beautiful expression, that was male but so gentle and affectionate. This came from a full darkest of dark eye that blended with his coat so well. Well browed. Prominence seen in stop, that sat at midpoint through muzzle and skull, both of good length and proportionate to overall appearance. Clean in cheek. Well-set ears of good length that hung neatly next to a moderate neck, that showed muscularity and cleanliness. This really flowed into excellent shoulder placement and return of upper arm. Strong in square body with good depth and shape to rib. Well-developed stifle, neat feet, and plenty of bone throughout. Strong in loin with good width to hindquarters and thigh, that he utilised on the move. Correct in tail placement and carriage. He had very good action on the move, straight on the up and was true on the back, however, I have seen him move so much better. He didn’t have his normal verve today that is characteristic of the breed, which was such a shame and pushed him to second. It was that close, especially as this boy has so much going for him. Such a lovely boy that I am sure will do well on another day.

3. 168 – Davies’s TRINANT CELTIC CARIAD.

Class: 138 – Open (4,1)

1. 171 – Harvey’s TOMERINE FACT OR FABLE – dog 3.5-year-old that showed a very appealing robust, square and masculine profile in the stack. A well-chiselled skull, notable stop and square muzzle, all assisting to give a soft yet intelligent expression. This emulated from a very dark eye that very much in keeping with his coat colour, together with a wide nose and well-set ears completed the picture. Correct in ear set and strong in male head construction. Moderate muscular neck flowing into well laid shoulders and a good front assembly with correct cat-like feet, that was thickly padded. Excellent body construction with well-sprung ribs, strong firm loin and well-rounded hindquarters, all contributing to his balanced profile which won him the class. Correct angulation fore and aft with short hocks and a gentle slope to a level topline, which he held on the move. A little close behind on the away and I would have preferred a more outgoing personality to challenge higher honours. However, on the around he showed good drive with a powerful action. Presented beautifully in very good, condition to coat and well-muscled throughout. An appealing boy.

2. 179 – Proudler’s KIMAPA KWACKERS KALON JW – This 2.5-year-old dog, of liver roan was just pipped to 1st place. He was so happy in the ring it was a joy to watch him strut his stuff. A masculine head featuring a square muzzle, distinct stop, and well-covered, lobular ears of good length, exceeding tip of nose. A kind expression that was generated from a shade of eye in keeping with rest of colour to charge and width across that distinct stop. Clean in cheek and square in finish to muzzle of depth. Clean through neck and throat with a good reach of neck flowing into lovely angulated front construction. Straight in leg and neat in Tight, well-padded feet. Excellent spring to rib and super strong over loin. Compact body, well-rounded rump. Strong rear angulation with good muscling and width to upper thigh, that completed the picture. Presented in excellent coat and condition. Moved with true, typical cocker action, driving effortlessly and soundly around the ring with plenty of confidence and a happy disposition. Did his tail ever stop wagging? I don’t think so, which was so pleasing to see, proving his merry cocker temperament and excellent ring presence. Presented quite a balanced picture both in the stack and on the move.

3. 169 – Davies’s TRINANT MINT HUMBUG .

BOB and Grp 3 – Craig’s RIONDEL AMADEUS AT ALISMA (from class 136 Junior).

Class: 140 – Post graduate (3,0)

1. 185 – Bullock’s TRIXHUND SHUT THAT DOOR – A liver and white dog of 2-years who immediately commanded attention upon entering the ring. Presented in beautiful condition, his rich coat colour complemented an appealing and well-balanced outline, all built upon a strong foundation of quality bone. Striking in contrast between his two tones of coat. Handsome in head with correct proportions throughout, showing a balanced skull and muzzle. Defined fluting separating a kind expressive, dark hazel eye, that showed such happiness and all framed by well-set ears of length and shape, typical of the breed. A well-proportioned neck flowing cleanly into a correctly constructed forequarter. His front assembly showed excellent balance of bone and angulation, contributing greatly to his overall harmony and breed type. Well balanced in both front and rear angulation. Well sprung ribs, descended into muscular loin that was short and well coupled. Strong, sound quarters completed the picture. On the move he truly excelled, covering the ground with effortless, fluid-like action and excellent carriage, moving with purpose and style around the ring. His quality movement secured him the class, just ahead of his litter sister in second place. A very promising young dog that still has some maturing to do, therefore allowing for an exciting future ahead. Very happy to award BOB and then find out he went Grp 2. Congratulations.

2. 184 – Bullock’s TRIXHUND SHUT FOR LUNCH – An appealing 2-year-old bitch presented in excellent coat and condition, offering many of the same admirable qualities as her litter brother while retaining a distinctly feminine outlook. In a liver and white girl, in slightly less liver than 1st. She possesses a lovely well-balanced head with superb dark expressive eyes and well-placed ears, creating a soft yet intelligent, beautiful expression. Skull of medium length, fairly broad and slightly rounded. Balanced in head proportions. Strong in neck, flowing cleanly into correctly laid shoulders with a well-angled upper arm, giving her a balanced and harmonious forequarter. Appealing width to chest, down at elbow and straight forelegs. Her firm, level topline, well-sprung ribs, and pleasing chest proportions completed an attractive outline. A touch longer in cast than her littler mate yet still very much appealing. Muscular hindquarters with good angulation and sound short hocks provided strength and drive behind. Stood beautifully balanced when stacked and maintained her shape on the move, displaying a coordinated side gait and true, typical movement. When asked to free stack, everything was in the right place, at the right time. Absolutely in tune/attentive with her handler and couldn’t take her eyes off him, unless asked. A quality young bitch with much to admire and if she continues in the same manner as her brother, will have a bright future ahead.

3. 188 – Le-Clerc’s HUNTERHECK LOST IN A SPELL.

Class: 141 – Open (3,1)

1. 186 – Bullock’s TRIXHUND THIS IS MY DESTINY SHCEX – 4.5-year-old male that I have been fortunate to go over previously. Presented in a lighter, yet appealing liver and white coat. A boy that is very appealing in male head and well-proportioned throughout, providing quite a typical outline. Good muzzle to head ratio, that assisted with a very kind expression. This came from a darker hazel eye of medium size and very pleasing stop. Well bowed. Muzzle showing good depth. Shapely in skull and well-set ears of correct length. Strong neck flowing into a firm topline, with good depth of chest. Well-sprung ribs. Nicely angulated front and rear quarters with strong bone and well-developed second thigh. Compact feet and good bend of stifle. Moved soundly around the ring with reach and drive, covering the ground effortlessly while maintaining his outline. A quality dog showing breed type, balance, and style throughout. Very happy to award RBOB.

2. 187 - Le-Clerc’s HUNTERHECK FADE TO BLACK – A black and white male of 4 years, presenting a strong and masculine outline. Lovely head with good proportions throughout, showing strength without coarseness, a well-balanced muzzle to skull ratio, depth to muzzle, clean cheeks, and a kind dark brown eye giving an alert expression. Ears correctly set with length. Strong in neck with slight arch and proportionate reach. Strong in bone throughout. Well laid shoulders with pleasing proportions of upper arm to shoulder blade, giving a sound front assembly. Deep through the body with lovely spring of rib, short coupled, and carrying a decent topline with well-set tail. Good width to thigh, decent croup, and well-angulated rear quarters with good turn of stifle. On the move a little alert for my liking not showing the full happy disposition I am accustomed to of the breed. Gave the handler a little hard time and when steadied, a touch close behind for my liking. Needing to settle to show himself off to his fullest. Still a pleasing charge with many appealing features.

BOB and Grp 2 – Bullock’s TRIXHUND SHUT THAT DOOR (from class 140 Post graduate)

RBOB – Bullock’s TRIXHUND THIS IS MY DESTINY SHCEX (from class 141 Open)

Class: 143 – Post graduate (2,1)

1. 191 – Griffiths’s MERCHINETES PADRIG – Although stood on his own, this 2-year-old male, was well worthy of his position in this class and the breed. Excellently presented male of good type and balance seen throughout. Shown in excellent coat and condition with a rich dark red and brilliant white jacket of super quality. Really fell for his head. Masculine throughout without exaggeration, carrying a lovely expression with kind dark eyes and balanced head proportions. Skull slightly domed and in proportion to the body, with good work below the eyes and a medium length muzzle. Ears moderately set and hanging close to the cheeks. Strong neck that cleanly entered into well laid shoulders, with balanced moderate angulation to front that matched his rear. Slightly longer cast but maintaining a pleasing, level topline and strong loin, that did not waver in the stack, nor on the move. Well ribbed body, good legs that were straight and upright, and tight feet. Particularly liked the width and muscle over the hindquarters, which he used to advantage on the move, covering the ground with ease and showing sound, positive drive. Made an attractive outline both standing and, on the move, and showed throughout with a lovely happy disposition, which was so pleasing to see. Best of luck with him. BOB.

1. 193 - Stirk’s SH CH NYLLAUP AKOYA PEARL FOR GRAKAR JW – An 18-month bitch that is absolutely full of quality. For one so young she already shines. A picture of balance and presented in fabulous, hard condition. Refined in feminine head, that showed length to skull and equally so to muzzle. All showing strength without being overdone and retaining a bitch look. Excellent clean finish. Medium in brown eye of almond shape, that was so alert and giving beautiful expression. This impressive head was framed by long, low set ears that hung closely to clean cheeks and a super strong neck of balanced length. Very difficult to see any transition into thorax making for a fantastic, elegant line. Excellent front construction showing power to well-laid shoulders of balance between scapular and humerus. Lovely prominence to forechest and width to chest, fitting the hand so very well. Straight well-boned forelegs and compact, lovely feet. Excellent spring to rib that provided the barrel shape behind shoulder as required and down at elbow. Super smart in topline, that was level and strongly coupled. The width and strength to topline gave the impression that you could have put a plate on it, and it wouldn’t have moved in the stack nor when in full flight. Her hindquarters showed excellent condition and development that enabled good foundation for appealing and balanced angulation to that of front. Well angled croup also. Densely curled coat was presented beautifully. On the move, she did not disappoint. She did not put a foot wrong and moved freely and with style. Correct in pasterns and lovely width. Genuinely a lovely bitch with all the attributes to continue for years to come. BOB.

1. 194 – James’s KEIGAME NELL GWYN AT CWNGIEDD – A bitch of 5 years that I thought showed good balance throughout. Liver and white ticked coat. A very feminine, appealing, overall appearance. Very balanced in profile, with a clean-cut head and ear set, strong muzzle, and lovely dark brown eyes, that gave the intelligent expression. Broad in skull and showing slight roundedness. Very slight rise between eye and lovely brow. Strength seen to jaw. Well held ears, sitting appealingly on head. All well in keeping in proportion to feminine body type. This sat well on a moderately long neck, that showed true muscularity, without being coarse. Shoulders sloping well, showing good balance in front construction. Forelegs straight. Lovely width to chest with ample forechest, elbows well tucked in, good ribbing, firm loin of good width, and well-proportioned tuck-up. Well-muscled throughout, particularly in the upper and second thigh, which completed the overall picture of balance. Low-set, parallel hocks and well-padded feet. Moved soundly, floating across the ring with excellent drive and maintaining good topline throughout. Excellent in pastern presentation on the move. A very elegant bitch who presented an overall picture of good quality and balance. A close call for BOB as two nice bitches, but this girl won it on overall movement and balance.

Class: 153 – Open (1,0)

1. 195 – Whittaker’s PINGARYPOINT MILK SHAKE SHCEX – bitch of not quite 6. Was a well-presented bitch of sound type and predominantly liver with white ticks. Balanced head of correct proportions with rise in nasal bone to forehead impersonating a stop, pleasing intelligent eye of a shade of brown very much in keeping with rest of charge, open well-developed dark brown nostrils in keeping with coat colour, and strong muzzle. Strong neck of good length leading into powerful, well-angulated and muscled shoulders, straight front, deep chest, and well-sprung ribs carried well back. Strong back with firm loin and short coupled body. Hindquarters showing good muscle tone and good rear angulation, well bent stifle, and low-set hocks. Would prefer a little more width to thigh to complete the overall picture of balance. Well arched toes. Moved freely with good reach and drive. However, at times a touch close behind on the move. Nevertheless, a quality bitch showing soundness, strength, and breed type. Well-toned throughout with nothing exaggerated and very close to best of breed.

BOB - James’s KEIGAME NELL GWYN AT CWNGIEDD (from class 152 post graduate)

German Wirehaired Pointer

Class: 154 -post graduate (1,0)

1. 196 – Jones’s CALDEWRIVER TIGER LILLY VIA MUSTWORK – this is such a super bitch of only 10 months. In the stack she didn’t lack maturity in balance, nor overall presence. Very composed and harmonious outline with nothing exaggerated. Feminine in head with pleasing proportions, showing a balanced skull and muzzle. Skull having good breadth and slightly rounded shape. Wide in brown nose that was in keeping with colour to her well-furnished head. tight in lip and depth to muzzle, that still gave her a feminine appearance. Her eyes of hazel complemented her expression well, while her correctly set ears completed an attractive and typical headpiece. An appealing rise to stop, that separated those lovely eyes and lovely raised brows. Super strength to neck and showing balance in reach. Pleasing in front angulation with super strength and muscling. Straight in front with lovely width to chest. She is well developed down to the elbow with excellent substance without losing femininity. Maturity shown in spring to ribs, a firm, level topline and good width through the croup, which also showed desirable length, contributing to her balanced profile. Lovely rear angulation, with width to thigh that she used well on the move. She showed good width behind on the move with very good footfall on the around. She still has a very puppy like action, but that is exactly where she is in her stage of development. This will tighten as she matures. Excellent drive and super reach. Her coat was particularly pleasing — tight, correctly textured, and attractively ticked, enhancing her overall breed type. Well boned throughout and already displaying strength and muscularity for one so young. She maintained her shape well and gave the impression of a sound, athletic youngster built for purpose. A very promising prospect with all the attributes to develop into a quality adult. BP and PGrp 2. Many congratulations. All the very best with her future.

Class: 155 – Open (4,1)

1. 197 – Jones’s MUSTWORK MAXIMUM AFFECT – 2-year-old bitch that was very impressive in the stack and was very fortuitous on the move, which was lovely to see. At only two, she has a bright future. Such a robust young girl that had femininity throughout yet possessing the excellent balance, strength, substance, and robustness so essential to the breed. She presented a thoroughly quality outline and looked every inch an accomplished article despite yet only being two. Her head is a particular virtue - beautifully balanced with the softest of expressions, combining femininity with correct strength. This came from medium darker hazel eyes, moderate stop. Not profuse in facial trim, but that assisted with viewing her lovely, happy expression. Entire head showing strength that balanced with rest of body. Medium sized ears set high and of correct length to corner of lip. Clean through the neck and shoulders, she has an excellent front assembly in its entirety, with plenty of heart room. Well boned and excellent width to chest. Appealing prominence to forechest. This led into well-sprung ribs, a firm strong topline, and correct tail set. Well-turned stifles and lovely width to second thigh completed a well-angulated and muscular rear assembly. Her harsh jacket was of correct texture and added greatly to her overall presentation. On the move she was especially impressive, driving out positively and covering the ground freely with effortless, fluent action while maintaining her excellent balance and outline throughout. Pasterns upright on the away, that plenty of width, also. A very sound and stylish bitch with a bright future ahead, and I was delighted to award her BOB.

2. 200 - Jones’s GERMANUS MAKIN A POINT (AI) – dog of nearly 4 years of age that has done well under me previously. A great deal of the points I identified previously are still salient. He was well-presented once more in a super liver and white coat. A masculine profile and still quite balanced. Well off for strong male head, that I found very appealing. Super expression and facial trimmings a little stronger than our last meeting, which is well received, providing more substance to the head. Lighter in Hazel eye, not piercing, but intelligent and alert. Pigmentation surrounding the eye and to large nose, liver in colour and matched the darker head hair. Strong in rise to stop, that was emphasised by lighter coat at this point. Correct in moderate ear size and carriage. All this showed a head of great appeal. Lovely strength to neck that had reach. Well laid shoulders of excellent angulation. This was mirrored in the rear angulation, showing excellent balance. Straight in foreleg, with slight slope to pasterns. Deep in chest and decent spring to ribs. Ribs reaching well back and strong over loin giving gentle tuck-up. Very gentle downward sweep to topline, that was appealing. Nice and firm. I said previously that I would like to see a little more width to thigh to finish off the picture and I still stand by this. With this and his tail carriage being a touch high today, meant that he was pushed to second. He still showed good drive on the around. Also, on the up and back covered the ground easily with each stride, which I found still so very appealing. Still a lot to like about this man.

3. 199 - Jones’s GERMANUS DUTCH DELIGHT.

Class: 156 – Post graduate (4,2)

1. 203 – Gammon’s GLENBROWS OPERA D’ARTE JW – not quite 2-year-old that was shown as an elegant, feminine bitch of pleasing size and proportions with a balanced overall outline. Attractive head of correct type, well-proportioned with a slightly darker than coat eye complementing her beautiful lightly darker russet attire and lovely skin. Loved the leanness to head, showing width between ears, and soft medial line dissecting the eyes that were slightly oval and well fitted, tight lids. Pigmentation around eye and to nose, pink and in keeping with blend into coat. Moderate in low set ears, that were close to skull. Good length of neck flowing into a straight front with sufficient bone, strong pasterns and tight feet. Prominent sternum and good depth to chest. Firm, level topline with high withers and strength through the loins. Angulation to rear, matching that of front. Muscles well-toned throughout, giving a refined yet sinewy appearance. Moved out with a lively trot, covering the ground well, although at times a little close behind. A well-presented bitch with much to like. Lovely in the stack and showed good balance, with time very much on her side to mature.

2. 206 – Templar-Bents’s LISTERO PRINCESS AURORA – At 3.5- years of age, this female is of good breed type and robustness. She has a lean head with a kind expression. So soft and it assisted in showing her affectionate side. Again, good width across skull, gentle in stop, clean in finish to muzzle and well browed. She is well balanced by a strong, clean neck flowing smoothly into correctly placed shoulders. Well angled in upper arm, giving her balanced forequarter construction with that of rear. Good spring to rib, standing on strong legs and neat, well-held feet. She maintains a firm topline both standing and, on the move, flowing into an appealing croup and excellent hindquarters with well-developed second thigh. A pleasing turn of stifle. Moved soundly, covering the ground well in profile with a spacious, effortless side gait. Particularly pleasing for her attentive attitude to her handler, responding willingly and carrying out everything asked of her with full cooperation.

Class: 157 – Open (2,0)

Very well contested class with two lovely exhibits.

1. 202 – Coombe’s AMARANTOS BELLARIA AT CASTLEFIELD – 4-year-old girl that has done well with me previously. Almost everything I pointed out previously was evident today, however, she impressed even more today. In the stack, initial impression was super appealing, showing balance and leanness throughout. Presented well in a light russet gold coat and in harder condition. Very appealing feminine head feminine and still retaining strength. Gentle rise to stop that was in keeping with rest of head and showed good width between oval, medium eyes. Lovely finish to foreface and clean workings to zygomatic arch. Appealing prominence to brows which heightened her bright and intelligent expression. Complementary colouration throughout, including that to a wide nose. Balance in head proportions and with rest of charge, with defined medial furrow. Correct length and positioning to ears, that lay close to skull. Moderately long in neck length, that had strength. This transitioned seamlessly into well-laid shoulders. These were well proportioned. Forechest showed good width and depth. This reached down to elbow and showed a nicely sprung rib, that reached well back. This provided good foundations for a super, firm topline and supported a strong loin and gentle tuck-up. Excellent hindquarter construction, with good width to the upper thigh. Balanced angulation to front and rear. Tail is correctly set and carried. All in keeping with rest of charge. Very well constructed throughout. She upped her game from our previous interaction, where she really came out of herself. Really showed her best side in the stack, that was very distinguished. She showed plenty of width behind, without being overly done. Lovely action to front, graceful and elegant on the around. A very lovely exhibit that I am very happy to see doing well. Very happy to award BOB.

2. 204 – Gammon’s GLENBROWS REMINISCENT – this 2.5-year-old bitch only just missed out on top spot and BOB. This darker russet bitch presents a most attractive and feminine outline, combining elegance with the noble quality so typical of the breed. She was very pleasing in proportions and overall balance, carrying herself with style and confidence throughout. Her beautiful head is well proportioned with a gently rounded skull across the ears, lovely clean finish and appealing workings below the eyes and an alert yet soft expression. Eyes slightly darker than the coat harmonise well with her rich colouring and enhance her feminine appearance. Straight in front with good bone and tidy feet, she has ample depth of chest with excellent spring to rib, though being fussy, I would prefer a little more forechest. Lovely spring to rib. Strong over the loin with very good width to thigh and moderate bend of stifle, giving a balanced and athletic rear assembly. Just ever so slightly longer cast than my first, but nevertheless extremely pleasing in outline. On the move she showed herself to advantage, covering the ground with an elegant, flowing profile action and carrying herself with great nobility. Good coming and going overall, although a little close behind and I would have preferred slightly more rear propulsion. Her lovely coat and skin completed the picture of a quality young bitch with much to admire and every indication of an excellent future ahead.
