Premier open show

Firstly I would like to thank the committee for their kind invitation to judge BIS at their wonderful show. I’ve exhibited here over the years and also judged before and can say it is always a pleasurable, friendly day out.

I was really spoiled for choice in all my line ups, the quality of dogs were outstanding and a credit to all their owners.

Ultimately my Best in Show was also my Best Puppy In show which was the beautiful soft coat wheaten terrier ‘Silkcroft Play On Repeat’ bred and owned by Mr C & Mrs C L Satherley, who on the day just shone in that big ring, even at just 11 months old. This compact, dense boy is so well made, lots of substance and good for size. Pleasing head with strong jaw, correct dentition and medium size eye, with v shaped ears dropping closely to his head. Strong neck and well laid back shoulders, short strong back and well sprung rib and so well off for muscle on his hindquarters! Soft silky coat in good condition and well presented. His movement finished off the picture, it is so free and balanced with good reach and drive, which he showed off effortlessly. I’m sure this boy will have such an exciting future! Congratulations.

RBIS – was the whippet ‘Riocife to the moon and back’ owned by Mrs L Ryan. Couldn’t be denied in BIS and definitely earned her spot. Gives off an elegant and graceful outline. Long head with flat skull, oval eye and rose shaped ears. Strong jaw with correct dentition. Long neck, straight forearm with deep chest and well laid back shoulders. Well muscled firm back with slight arch over her loin. Well bent stilfes and oval feet. Her movement is so true coming and going with easy strides and keeps her topline throughout. Congratulations!

RBPIS – was the Great Dane ‘Fontanarossa Makkari Avec Dainmajik’ owned by Lady J Ingram. This puppy has a beautiful outline. Elegantly built but strong and muscular. Powerful head, flat skull and broad muzzle, good dentition, dark eye and strong jaw with large nostrils. Medium sized ears set high on head. Long well arched neck leading into well set shoulders. Deep body, good spring of rib and strong back. Well developed hind quarters which are well muscled. She covered the ground whilst on the move, showing off her free driving action as she went and also keeping her head held high. Congratulations!

BVIS – was the Keeshond ‘CH Kichigai’s only the lonely VW ShCex’ owend by Mr C & Miss N L Hickson, who you wouldn’t believe is the grand age of 11 years old! Still such a showman and enjoying every bit of being in the ring still. Short compact body, pleasing head and small pointed ears making his expression alert. Arched neck leading into shoulders with straight front. Good depth of brisket, and well-muscled hind quarters, stood on tight round feet. His coat still in the best condition, dense, and well feathered on legs. Clean movement throughout. Congratulations!

RBVIS – was the Ibizan Hound ‘CH Abbotsoak Carousel JW ShCex OSW VW’owned by Miss J L Taylor, again in the best condition for age and a credit to her owner. Lovely head and eye, large ears set correctly. Good forequarters and straight legs. Level back sloping slightly off and flat ribcage. Well tucked up and short in loin. Very good hindquarters and oodles of muscle throughout. Her movement shows that typical long reaching stride. Pushed hard for BVIS. Congratulations!

Best import breed register in show – was the Yakutian Laika ‘IR CH The Brotherhood Of Shadow Viscount Who Loved Me Antony At Laikaboss’ owned by Miss A Evans. A breed that was new to me but very much enjoyed learning about them since. This dog was strong, compact and well muscled. He had long legs had good proportions throughout. Pleasing head, almond shaped eyes and triangular ears set high. Broad back which is firm and straight topline, well developed chest, good spring of rib and stifles well bent. He moved so well which gave him the win! Congratulations!

Reserve best import breed register in show – was the Braque D’Auvergne ‘Parkbalk Ariel Dianell Avec Brwynstep’, owned by Mr S & Mrs B Boughton. A lovely example of the breed. Medium sized girl who is strongly built throughout. Pleasing head with long deep muzzle, low set ears and correct dentition. Deep chest, good spring of rib and level topline. Moved well with good reach and drive. Congratulations!

Unfortunately there were no Best Import Puppies.
