A Huge thank you to the society for their invitation to judge at their prestigious open show, a warm welcome and great hospitality, very much appreciated. Thanks also to the exhibitors for giving me their support and allowing me to go over their wonderful dogs. And thank you to my stewards, for their help in keeping the ring ticking along.
Brittany
Graduate (2) 1. Cordy &Lanckmans – Patouche Ulane. Well proportioned and of good distinctive shape, feminine through skull with a gentle affectionate expression, dark in eye, good length to neck clean and well set into a nice lay of shoulder, front assembly with good muscular straight forelegs, deep through chest with good spring to rib, gentle slope in topline to short well toned loin, rear quarters with sound muscle on a moderate bend in stifle, feet tight and round, moved well in a steady short gait holding a nice topline. RBOB. 2. Samardzija’s – Patouche Amaretto. Puppy dog with a lot to like showing a good outline holding a correct topline on the initial move around, head of good correct proportions, nice dark eye giving that intelligent affectionate expression, neck of moderate length set to a nice shoulder placement, front with good bone on straight forelegs, developing well through a deep chest, short in couplings and already showing a well toned loin, moderate in bend of stifle, moved with a good overall brisk gate. BPIB.
Open (1) 1. Slack’s – SH CH Bonapartist Snow Goose. A well balanced good looking bitch with a feminine intelligent expression, with a general overall correct outline, steady through her gentle sloping topline, head of excellent plains and proportions, a good dark eye, neck clean cut and of moderate length set to a nice shoulder placement, elbows tucked in nicely to a well developed chest, well ribbed back to a strong short loin, moderate in bend of stifle with well toned 1st and 2nd thighs, feet compact and rounded, moved clean and straight in a good gait holding that great topline. BOB.
German Shorthaired Pointer
Junior (2) 1. Brown & Filby’s – Desjiem Rebel Rebel (AI). Lovely outline with a sound topline, head with good plains and a good dark eye giving a feminine affectionate expression, good length through neck into well laid shoulders, front assembly well muscled with good bone on straight forelegs, well developed through a deep chest, firm in back to a strong loin, muscular in 1st and 2nd thigh on a well bent stifle, moved smoothly with an effortless gait covering the ring easily. 2. Joy’s – Seasham Thrill Me At Mannlicher. Holding a good outline and solid topline on entering the ring, with a nicely developed skull, ears set high to a good eye, neck strong and muscular set to sloping shoulders, front with slightly sloping pasterns on forelegs of good bone, chest deep and well ribbed, loin strong and wide showing strength, good bend of stifle with good toning to thighs, moved well with a steady gait.
Post Graduate (1) 1. . Brown & Filby’s – Desjiem Rebel Rebel (AI) Repaet of Junior.
Open (3) 1. Peebles – Seasham Too Much Heaven JW. Really lovely example of the breed well developed through out, showing a good overall outline, head and skull with clean cut well proportioned plains, eyes dark with a soft affectionate expression, ear set nice, neck strong muscular and of moderate length set into a well laid back shoulder, front with lean strong forelegs with a gentle slope on pasterns, chest deep and not too wide to hinder elbows, carrying a good spring to rib, loin strong with good width to croup, strong well toned thighs on a well bent stifle, feet compact with nicely arched toes, moved with a smooth powerful gait covering the ring with ease. BOB.
2. Brown & Filby’s – SH CH Winterwall Thatlldo Desjiem JW ShCex OSW. Another classic dog with all the correct attributes of the breed, good overall outline, head with a good slightly rounded skull, dark eye with a gentle expression, muzzle of good length and nothing with excess, neck of a good length showing plenty of strength, fitting smoothly into a well laid back shoulder, forequarters with good bone an a straight foreleg, slight slope in pastern and well shaped feet, chest deep and with good spring to rib carried well back to a strong loin, well bent stifles with muscular 1st and 2nd thighs, moved steady with good reach. RBOB.

Post Graduate. (4,1) 1. Gaylor & Robertson’s – Gilstonia Run Red Rum For Aprilflash. This dog shows himself well, with a good overall outline and a nicely held top line, well shaped skull with a nicely defined stop, eyes dark and with a soft expression, neck long and well toned set to a well laid back shoulder, chest deep with a good spring of rib carried back to a strong loin, moderate in bend of stifle with 1st and 2nd thighs of strong well toned muscle, hocks well let down, feet rounded and firm, smooth driven movement made covering the ring easy. RBOB. 2. Cooper & Mullin’s – Gilstonia Maggie May. Litter sister to first and a lot alike, holding a good topline on initial stack, and a very nice overall outline, head with neat correct proportions and again with a well defined stop, good length to neck with good strength, smoothly fitting to a good shoulder lay, good depth to chest with a good spring to rib, front assembly well boned on a straight foreleg, loin showing strength and with width, nice bend to stifle and carrying nicely toned muscular thighs, moved well with a smooth gait.
Open (3) 1. Millard’s – Fendel Water Lily At Rubylea (AI). Typical well balanced dog of good proportions, carried a good overall outline with a strong topline, skull with good shape and dimensions, showing a good stop, lovely dark eye with a gentle soft expression, strong through a good length of neck fitting neatly into a well laid back shoulder, forequarters showing strength on good straight bone, deep through brisket with plenty of well sprung rib carried back to an equally strong loin, moderate bend in stifle carrying well muscled thighs, hocks well let down, feet round and firm, movement was strong balanced and driven from the strong rear quarters covering the ring with ease. BOB. 2. Coopers – Gilstonia Snow Moon. Held a lovely topline on entering the ring showing a good overall outline, head with a good profile and neat stop, good dark eye, neck long and strong a fitting neatly to a good lay back of shoulder, sound in front assembly with good amount of bone, brisket deep and with plenty of well sprung rib carried to nice couplings and strong loin, moderate bend in stifle with good muscle on the thighs, moved with a steady smooth gait.
Weimaraners.
Puppy (1) 1. Suett’s – Silberliss Diamond Cut. Quit a nice looking bitch with a good outline, very substantial for one so young, moderate stop on head of correct equal lengths of skull and muzzle, blue in eye but still showing an intelligent soft expression, clean cut in neck, plenty of bone through front, good depth in chest not impeding elbows, rear angulation good with well toned thighs, moved well with effortless gait required. BPIB.
Junior (3) 1. Lord & Broomfield’s – Chilternway Coriandrum. Held a nice topline, showing signs of good development, head of neat proportions and a good intelligent eye, neck of good length and feeling strong, depth in chest good to elbow, plenty of well sprung rib carried well back to a strong the loin, moderate in bend of stifle with well toned 1st and 2nd thighs, moved with good reach holding a good topline. RBOB 2. Mercuri’s – Weipowa License To Spy. Strong looking dog with a good outline, head with correct equal plains, neck strong and of a moderate length, forequarters with good bone on straight fore legs, brisket deep and with well sprung ribs, well toned thighs on a moderate bend in stifle, moved with a strong driven gait.
Post Graduate (4) 1. Lord & Broomfield’s – Chilternway Coriandrum As Above.
2. Moll’s – Akwamar Back Street Girl. Neat outline and a well held topline, head with good equal plains and with a nice eye, neck strong with good muscle, front strong and straight, chest deep to elbow and carrying good spring of rib, loin well toned with a feeling of strength, moderate in bend of stifle good amount of muscle on thighs, moved with a good driven gait.
Open (6,2) 1. Upton-Lovett & Upton’s – SH CH Gunalt Lustrous With Roydack ShCEx VW. A good representation of the breed with a good outline and always holding the correct level topline, head and skull with good equal plains, good intelligent friendly expression from a nicely coloured eye, neck moderate in length clean cut with no excess, shoulders well laid back, front straight and strong showing no weakness, chest deep to elbow and carrying a good spring of rib, moderate tuck up at flank, modest bend in stifle with well muscled 1st and 2nd thighs, hocks well let down, feet tight and compact with arched toes, moved in a very driven powerful gait. BOB. 2. Anderson’s – Gunalt Gift Of The Gab JW. Another credible exhibit with a lot to like, although a little longer than 1st still had a respectable outline that on another day would have won the class, held her topline on the initial stack, head with correct equal plains, good colouring to eye, neck with strength of moderate length, front straight and strong, deep through chest with a good spring of rib, well muscled 1st and 2nd thighs on a moderate bend in stifle, moved well with good drive from the rear.
Special Open (Longhaired) (1,1).
A V Gundog Good Citizen Scheme. (20,6). 1. Romeo-Dieste’s – SH CH Hopevalley Morning Wicked. Eye catching from the start, gleaming coat and lovely outline, holding a good topline from the start, active and happy just as the breed should be, well moulded head, long and moderately broad, good length to neck set well to good lay of shoulder, forequarters with straight forelegs and good bone, deep in chest with good rib carried back to short couplings, strong through the rear with well toned 1st and 2nd thighs on a good bend of stifle with well let down hocks, movement was free, driven and covered the ring with ease. 2. Sladden’s – Tyrbechgyn Believe You Will At Canemamans JW ShCEx OSW VW. Powerful well balanced dog with a cracking outline, good equal plains in skull with nice chiselling below eyes, neck muscular and powerful fitting well to strong well laid shoulders, front assembly with oval bone on straight forelegs, good length in pasterns, brisket deep to elbow carrying a good spring to rib, loin well muscled and with a feel of strength, nice bend in stifle with well toned 1st and 2nd thighs, moved with a true and straight drive from the rear.

Minor Puppy (12, 2, 1W/D) 1. Falconer’s – Siatham Esmerelda. For one so young she was solid, balanced and full of breed type, symmetrical and not over done, well balanced through head and skull with good equal plains, well defined stop, dark in eye giving that true soft intelligent expression, neck strong with no excess fitting well to a well laid back shoulder, straight in foreleg with plenty of strong feeling bone, chest deep to elbow without impeding movement, short couplings and strong across the loin, hocks well let down, well bent stifles carrying nicely developing 1st and 2nd thighs, powerful gait with a clean and straight action. 2. Brooksmith’s – Sharnphilly Lyrical. Clean in outline and held a good topline, head and skull well balanced with a good well defined stop, eyes of good colour with a kindly expression, neck long strong and muscular, a well laid back shoulder giving the forequarters the correct shape and angles desired, forelegs straight and already showing strength, chest deep to elbow with developing rib carried back to a strong loin and short couplings, rear quarters with a good bend in stifle and of good muscle to thighs, smooth and clean action driven from the rear making covering the ring easy.
Puppy (10, 4, 1W/D) 1. Salt’s – Culcrieff’s Ferntower Glen Of Wetnoses. Have gone over this young dog before and am well impressed with his development, still has that substantial sound outline, with a good overall presence, head through skull developing nicely with a balanced look, moulded well, moderately flat across his skull, strong in neck with no signs of throatiness, front assembly growing balanced and still strong through bone, brisket deep and with good rib, even stronger through loin wider and with well developed muscle, good toning again on thighs getting stronger with age, movement was just as good with a clean positive action driven from the strong rear quarters. 2. Sladden’s – Canemamans Final Blow. Another cracking youngster with a great deal to like, sound, well balanced and powerful looking, good outline and strong across the topline, distinctive head with good equal plains, strong feel in a good length of neck, not too long, showing strength in a well laid back shoulder, well boned strong straight forelegs with slightly sloping pasterns, good depth to chest carrying a sound spring to rib, wide powerful loin, well bent stifle with well toned 1st and 2nd thighs, moved with a powered drive from the rear.
Junior (11, 5,1W/D).1. Barnham’s – Droveborough Witchy Women JW. Another cracking exhibit that I have come across before, she has developed really well and gone from strength to strength, still holding that lovely outline and solid topline, balanced and graceful, all the attributes as I’ve written before but better, she has developed into a graceful totally to breed type pointer, and very much a pleasure to see her again, with even more power and drive she glided around the ring. 2. Pavitt, Pavitt, Whitehead and Whitehead’s – Foxriever Fire Cracker (AI). Strong looking substantial dog with a good overall outline and level topline, head of equal plains and in proportion to body, neck with a slight arch and with good muscle strong and not too long set well to a good lay back of shoulder, forelegs straight and strong set well to strong pasterns, chest deep and down to elbow with a good feel of forechest, ribs well sprung and carried well back to a strong short loin, moderate turn in stifle with well muscled thighs, feet tight and round, moved with an effortless gait driven well from the strong rear quarters, coat was good with a nice tight curl.
Special Yearling (14, 8, 1W/D). 1. Gammon’s – Martgarian Zantara JW. Nothing exaggerated on this dog, clean lines, balanced and with a strong outline she possesses quality throughout, head with a good stop skull not too wide, definitely feminine in appearance, eyes of good shape and colour giving an intelligent expression, smooth strong neck of a moderate length fitting smoothly to a good lay of shoulder, level across the back to a strong well toned loin, forelegs straight and strong with elbows close, chest deep and not too wide to impede elbows in movement, ribs well sprung and carried well back to slight tuck up, moderate angulation at rear with well muscled thighs, hocks well let down, clean and powerful driven gait which enabled her to glide around the ring. 2. Davies – Arelechen Galileo Figaro. Well developed powerful looking dog, workman like and fit for purpose, but still with that cheeky Toller playful expression, head with good shape width, moderate stop, shape and colour to eye good, neck of medium length and with a feel of strength, fitting well to a good lay of shoulder, chest deep with sound sprung ribs, level topline and muscled loin, strong straight forelegs and equally strong pastern, short across back to good tail set, rear quarters with well bent stifles carrying well toned thighs, feet round and tight with webbing, powerful clean action on the move covering the ring with ease.
