SOUTHERN IRISH TERRIER SOCIETY OPEN SHOW - 24 April 2026

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the society for the invitation to judge & also the exhibitors for their entries, your Irish were a credit to you all, extremely well presented and having excellent temperaments, I thoroughly enjoyed my time judging this lovely breed. I would also like to thank my stewards for keeping the ring running smoothly. Vet D/B (4) 1. Atkins’ Ch Holbam Celtic Summer. Lots to like about this bitch, loved head proportions & expression, good reach of neck flowing into correct shoulder placement. Plenty of depth to body & straight front. Well boned & good length of ribbing, enough rear angulation, topped off with harsh coat, moved out with purpose in profile, pleased to award her BVIS. 2. Redman’s Holbam Celtic Little Minx. Another super bitch who has many of the same attributes as 1. Exquisite head & expression, lovely neck & shoulder placement, good depth to body and elbows close to body. Good coat. Good mover but not as positive as class winner today. PD 2 (2a) JD (2) 1. Connell’s Sonorra Enter The Dragon. A dog of outstanding quality throughout with excellent balance, excels in head properties, correct dentition, eye colour & set of eye. Flat skull & correct ear carriage. Good neck widening into shoulders, straight front & well boned. Good depth to body & good length of rib. Harsh jacket to complete the picture. Moved out soundly displaying reach & drive, could not deny him top honours pleased to award BD & BIS. 2. Thomas’ Montelle All Is Bright At Sunnystone (AI). Another quality exhibit making for a hard decision, superb head & expression, correct dentition. Super reach of neck & well laid-back shoulders. Good for depth of body, well ribbed. A little longer in loin than 1, good bend of stifle & straight hocks, moved out with purpose. PGD (1:1a) LD (2) 1. Thomas & Print’s Bilarny Hotcross Bun. Good head, strong jaw & correct scissor bite. Enough length to neck & well-placed shoulders, straight front & strong bone. Good length of rib, adequate bend of stifle, coat harsh in texture, moved out with reach and drive. 2. Simons Brucephela Quito Berry. This boy had the better head properties, strong jaw, higher ear carriage, flat skull. Good length of neck & plenty of depth to body, good rear angles, however a little erratic on the move today. OD (2:1a) 1. Bentley’s Newguild Royale. Strong head & masculine expression, good ear carriage & fall, lovely flow of neck & shoulder. Good depth to body & good width at front. Well boned, strong in topline, correct tail set & carriage. Moved out correctly front & back, presenting good balance in side profile, pleased to award RBD. PB (3:1a) Lovelace’s Dl Quette Pandora. 9m, loved her head qualities, correct scissor bite, dark eye colour & ear carriage. Super neck & shoulders, straight in front and well boned. Sporting a level topline with correct tail set & carriage. Sound, positive mover I am sure she will have a bright future, pleased to award BPIB & BPIS. 2. Cresswells Mcfinn’ s Grace O’Malley. 6m, correct scissor bite & dark eye, enough neck & well laid shoulders. Good length of rib & well bent stifles. Due to puppy exuberance, getting the better of her today, I was unable to fully access her movement, however at only 6m she has plenty of time for everything to fall into place. JB (2) 1. Fitter’s Dartmoor Red Vixen. Liked this one for size & balance. Good head proportions, strong in jaw, dark eye & flat skull. Enough neck widening into well laid shoulders, chest well down. Good width at front, level topline & good angles to stifles. Moved straight out & back with purpose in side profile. 2. Karau’s Mc Finn’s Cailin Dearg. Liked her terrier expression, strong in jaw, dark eye & ear carriage. Good length of neck, a little narrower in front than 1, good topline & rear angulation. Harsh coat, moved out ok out & back. PGB (4) 1. Davidson’s Silbraehill Miss Dyna Mite. Good terrier expression & head proportions, liked her reach of neck & correctly placed shoulders. Adequate depth to body, straight legs with elbows close to body. Level topline, high tail set with correct carriage. Good rear angles & harsh coat. 2. Buss’ Magairlin Swan River. Close discission between these two, liked her for size & balance, good reach of neck & well laid shoulders. Also good for depth of chest & length of rib. Enough bend of stifle, straight strong hocks, just preferred ear carriage & terrier expression of 1. LB (4) 1. Fitter’s Ghyllslap Limerick. Super quality bitch, another showing good balance, correct size. Good head properties, strong jaw, super ear set & dark eye. Chest well down to elbow, good length of rib & level topline. Moved straight forward and back, with reach and drive in side profile. Pleased to award RBB. 2. Thomas’ & Print’s Bilarny Edna Cottonsocks. A size up on 1 but still within standard for size. Correct for length of neck & depth to body, shorter in rib & a little longer in loin than 1. Good rear angulation moved out ok. OB (5:2a) 1. Atkins Ch Holbam Celtic Rose (ai) JW ShCEX OSW. A bitch from the top draw, showing great balance with a racy outline. Excellent neck & shoulder placement, good depth to body. Super head & expression, level topline, high tail set & correct carriage. Good bend of stifle. To finish topped with harsh coat, pleased to award BB, RBIS & BOS. 2.
