Thank you to Totnes CS for their invitation and to the exhibitors for their entries and the sporting manner in which my decisions were accepted. My thanks to my Stewards, who made my task so much easier. I enjoyed my day immensely.

BIS.

Furse LOVELIWITHY BARBIE GIRL (Japanese Spitz) Feminine yet standing firm over the ground. Lovely wedge shape to head with oval eyes to drown in. Well engineered fore and aft giving positive but light movement as she travelled the ring effortlessly on her pretty cat like feet. Good proportion throughout her body with well sprung rib and strength to loin. Beautifully shown is superb fettle, well-muscled under the profuse, beautifully presented, double coat.

RBIS.

Cadmore SOLETRADER SYBIL FAWLTY (PBGV) True to type, balanced young hound with nothing exaggerated. She has a super head with well set fine ears. Well placed ribs with prominent sternum and correct angulation to forehand giving good forward extension, well made and muscled hindquarters offering drive and sound footfall. Presented in harsh coat without glamourous styling, a picture of an honest sound dog with time on her side.

BPIS

Jefferies SNOWMEADOW UNA ULISSE (SCWT) Really taken with this lass, head of correct proportions and strong to jaw, dark to eye and rim which held that Irish twinkle. Well laid shoulder without coarseness, strong to loin leading to well made hind giving impulsion matched by easy extension to the forehand. Coat colour will come, texture is spot on, will watch her career with interest.

RBPIS

Rossiter COCARO THE ENCHANTRESS (Shetland Sheepdog) Just lovely to head, wedge of correct proportions on this sable and white girl, Skull flat, almond eyes, obliquely set giving her that unique expression topped by those charming ears with the elegant tip fall. Elegant, ground covering movement provided by balanced, correct engineering fore and aft. Pretty as a picture but with conformation that would keep her active and sound all day.

BVIS

Bridgewater & Goddard BRIDGELLA’S DON’T PUSH IT (Irish Setter) Exquisite head on this seven-year-old lass. Soft almond eye , raised brows, giving that fabulous quizzical expression. Gentle sweep of topline from her elegant neck and into well laid shoulder at the withers ongoing to slightly raised loin, missing in so many IS today. No exaggeration to hind angulation allowing powerful drive from behind matched with easy extension of stride to the fore. In super coat, her tail lashing, lovely overall picture of a breed that quite often improves with age.

RBVIS

Carter CH AFILADOR ROOM ON THE BROOM Shcm SHCEX VW (IBIZAN HOUND) Very little to give away this lady’s age of 10 yrs, a slight sugar frosting on her slightly convex muzzle and very minor drop in the pasterns but muscle sitting well on her form. Super line from her active ears to her most elegant neck, onward to level back and finishing at a gentle slope to the rump. When she moved my heart skipped a beat, built to cover distance without effort she looked every inch the huntress.

Puppy 7(3)

1.Stirk STANEGATE STEP TO STARDOM FOR GRAKAR (IWS) 6 mnths. Engaging expression of mischief and intelligence, square to muzzle and skull still changing but promising at this stage, well set ears. Super forehand with well set back and sprung rib. Moved so well at this early stage of the day, by the time the Puppy Group was judged young muscles began to show their weakness although she stepped up to the challenge of sound and straight movement. One to watch.

2.Pike REDCLYST GLENURY AOIFE (Irish Setter) 7 mnths. Just a little overcome by the occasion but moved out soundly. Wee bit down on pastern at this stage, good head planes and shoulder placement, she just needs experience and time. 3.Prowse COLLINV H MEEKENESCHAT MERMILMAR (Lge Musterlander)

PG 1(0)

1.Hoban MEADOWLEIGH TIME TO DREAM JW Well balanced b. Broad to skull and good depth of muzzle, kindly expression, well laid back shoulder, forehand powerfully made with legs well under body. Would like a little more turn of stifle but hindquarters gave sufficient drive, moved out in front well. Standing on compact, neat feet. RBOB

O.1(0) 1.Jeffrey LEMBAS BROOKLYN AT MIBRIDGE.It is a shame that one has to look beyond his heavy condition to the very well made dog beneath. His head is terrific but again one has to strip away the layers to judge the dog, Moving, the drive and free flow is all there but would be so much better with a greater level of fitness. Cracking dog and at only 23 months, please, get this fella fit for function! BOB

Spaniel (Cocker)

PG.1(0). 1.Mercer ALBERTEAN NASHIRA Neat lass of 8 mnths. Good to level topline but neck a wee bit stuffy at this stage but I’m sure will come. Wide muscular hind quarters but I would like a little more turn of stifle, good, short metatarsals. Super expression, both kind and bright. BPIB

O.3(1) 1.Salmon CRIMCAR BLU DIAMOND Super pair of good, honest dogs capable of a days work. This lass has a good lay back of shoulder and correct length to forearm which allowed free and easy forward movement while a powerhouse hind offered impulsion and a promise of sound, straight movement behind, fulfilled. In the end I was nit picking between these two very typey dogs BOB 2.Small ALBERTEAN MINERVA JW Better to muzzle than one  and built to be a sound mover, but a slight lack of muscle to her hindquarters gave ground to 1. Not surprising with the weeks of rather too good weather we have had recently! RBOB

Pointer

O.3(0) 1. Coomes TENSHILLING MACK THE KNIFE Lemon/White. Stylish dog, built on good foundations with deep brisket and good heart room. Pleasing head, slightly concave to muzzle and of good proportion, ears a fraction low set but to no detriment to the expression. BOB 2. Osman CATTISTOCK COSMOS WITH MARISSOLO Heavier in bone but overall, well balanced, feeling the heat of the day. RBOB

Retriever (Nova Scotia Duck Tolling)

G.5(1). 1Hipkiss DELTANDAMBA DOMINO DANCING. Liked this young lass for her excellent lay of shoulder, well sprung rib with decent depth of brisket. Didn’t disappoint on the move with light footfall, straight and true. Ear set could be a tad higher but skull changes still occurring.  2.Jones KENLEAPCANSO CUTIE More mature b. not quite the topline of 1 but sound and true with clean cut skull. RBOB 3.Hipkiss DELTANDAMBA IT’S ASIN 4.Woollerton EUSANIT STRENGTH BY NUMBERS WITH CUMGILLIE

L.3(1). 1.HughesABACOT INTO THE UNKNOWN JW Loved his wedge to his head shape, broad to skull and expressive almond eyes, balanced fore and aft , short to metatarsals, standing on the best of tidy feet. Level topline held on the move, sound.2.Hipkiss AFONBACH FIRST SIGN OF SPRING AT DELTANDAMBA JW Longer cast than 1, attractive head of good proportions, alert expression from almond shaped eyes. Sound mover.

O.2(1). 1.Hughes ABACOT HEART OF THE OCEAN Hansome young d. strong to head but not overdone with broad, slightly rounded skull, flat cheeks below expressive almond eyes of a good colour, strong to jaw. Well laid shoulder and good  depth of brisket, compact , hind quarters well-muscled and moved with power and decent extension to the forehand. BOB.

Large Munsterlander

O.5(1). 1.Disney KAMAZE DANCE IN THE DARK SHCEX Super head on this mature d. nothing overdone, skull slightly rounded, well-made jaw and dark, expressive eyes. Neck flowing into well laid shoulder and onto well muscled loin and broad croup. Ribs well sprung, a tad long to loin but well engineered hind quarters with enough bend of stifle and short hock to floor giving effortless drive with decent reach to fore BOB 2.Caile KAMAZE DANCING QUEEN. Sister to 1.and much the same type, rather steep to croup , good head proportions with dark eye. Not the forward reach of 1.RBOB. 3. Disney WONGLEPONG WILLOWS SUNBIRD. BV 4. Prowse COLLIN V H MEEKENESCH AT MERMILMAR BPIB .

Spaniel (ESS)

PG. 3 (1). 1 Kibby PINHAYS PRINCESS SARAH. Head of good proportions would prefer a darker eye on this Liver& White lass. Muscular neck, rather long cast at the loin, hindquarters good to angulation with short metatarsals. Moved sound and straight. RBOB 2. Stevens BUMBLECORN QUEST Super B/W puppy d. Excels in shoulder and well-made hindquarters, deep to brisket and well sprung ribs, skull fairly broad, soft expression to dark eye and elegant chiselling enhancing his expression, stood on the best of feet. On the move unsettled and a wee bit erratic but straight and true, time is on his side and would advise ringcraft to aid his concentration. BPIB

O.1(0).1. Hill TEIGNVALLEY NEW BEGINNINGS JW SHCEX OSW. B/W d. A lot to like about this balanced boy, quality head full of breed type. Excels in strength of loin, deep to brisket, plenty of heart and lung room and topped with a beautifully managed coat. On the move those tidy feet took him round with drive from behind and that glorious easy swing to the forehand that looks so effortless BOB.

Retriever (Golden)

J.3(1) Northmore PENNBEACON OH NO NOT SUSAN Lovely lass of 14 mnths. Quality head, elegantly chiselled with skull broad enough. Head proportions correct. Gentle expression from dark eyes with ear set level with eye. When she moved the engineering of her angulation showed as she powered away straight and true with easy reach to forehand. Overall, picture of natural balance. RBOB 2. Lewis ZENEVIEVA MILLION DOLLARS FOR FAIRWINDS. Longer cast than 1. lacking essential drive. Well laid shoulder and short to metatarsals, shown in good order on excellent feet.

PG.3(0). 1.Fenn FULVIA JUST MAGIC AT JANDEBURN Nothing overdone on this dog of balance and an honest type. Broad to skull , plenty of detail in chiselling of correct proportions. Good flow from muscular neck into well laid back shoulder, stable topline with strong engine of the hindquarters. Short to metatarsals giving true drive aided by decent second thigh, shown in good order BOB 2.Hewitson SERUILIA SOCIETY GIRL. Better feet on this b. but movement not so positive, super expression with correct head proportions and plenty heart and lung room.3.Hurrell KADAKA KING OF KLAY.

O.5(0). 1.Lewis FAIRWINDSIN SPACE MAN JW. Mature d. with quality head and soft of eye, muscular neck and well laid shoulder with correct return, excellent feet, deep to brisket would prefer shorter coupling. Moved with enough impulsion, straight and true holding level topline. 2. Hurrell KADAKA KAOS AT GILLANSGOLD Easy stride with good impulsion and decent extension to forehand, shorter in neck than 1. Well laid shoulder and unexaggerated angulation behind.3. Hewitson SERUILIA SHINING STAR JW.

O.1(0). 1. Allan BLACK MYSTERY U GOT THE LOOK FOR HARTENZIEL Top sized d. with super head, with good depth of muzzle and rounded skull of good proportions. Expressive dark eyes finish an attractive head study. Level topline held on the move, in terrific coat and fettle. Enough substance, would like more arch to toes, movement had plenty of drive and enough reach. Sound and true. BOB

WSS

PG.5(1).1Mercer AMBLELIGHT OLEANDER Quality head on this d. with slightly domed skull, fine detail below the intelligent hazel eyes, strong to lower jaw. Balanced throughout giving impression of a dog that has stamina. Well off for bone, deep to brisket good flow of topline and showed good impulsion from powerful hindquarters. BOB 2. Attwood. ROXDALE WISPA BY KYLOWEN Another easy moving exhibit I don’t mind a little longer in loin in a b. especially when she can move with such positive energy. 3.Best EVENGELISE ASTRAEA. (BPIB)

O.5(2) 1. AMBLELIGHT JASMINE AT EVANGELISE Skull shape good , would like a little more depth to muzzle and a stronger lower jaw. Fine chiselling below her dark eye, with low set ears giving soft expression. Well put together giving a picture of balance and promising excellent movement and she didn’t disappoint. RBOB. 2.Blackford AMBLELIGHT ADHARA Mature b. with lots to like about her head. Would like tighter feet, moved well fore and aft. 3.Attwood IR SHCH KYLOWEN DEMELZA VW IR VET CH (BVIB)

Weimaraner

SY.1(1) 1. Jefferies RIVERTONE ATHENA OVER SILBERMEER. Elegant head on this lass of good proportions. Would like deeper muzzle but still some way to go before maturity. Good depth of brisket, would like ribs carried further back as she appears a little square at present. Sufficient bend of stifle, nicely arched toes RBOB

O.2.(1). Jefferies RIVERTONE AURORA OVER SILBERMEER. Well balanced b. with correct height to length proportions. Well sprung ribcage would like a tad deeper in brisket. Powerful hindquarters without exaggeration, a little steep to upper arm but a pleasing picture overall. Moved straight and true BOB

P.1(0) 1.Stirk STANEGATE STEP UP TO STARDON (IWS)

G.3(1) 1. Jones KAZANPAUL SHERBERT DIP. (GSP) Super head/and skull shape on this young d. correct rise of nasal bone and strong to jaw. Moderate neck, well-muscled, leading to pleasing topline and well constructed hind quarters, broad to hip, offering spectacular drive. Ribs well sprung, elbows correct allowing forward reach. RBOB 2. Mortimer SCODINZOLARE PESCHE (Italian Spinone) Correct head planes and soft expression. Good flow from moderate neck into well laid shoulder. Spinoni go through such bizarre growth stages, unlike any other gundog IMO, right now this lass is unbalanced in topline with loin high but another few weeks or months and the silhouette will have changed. Good harsh coat , moved straight and true. Time on her side.
