Ashfield (Notts) Canine Society

Ashfield & Notts Canine Society Premier Open Show 15.08.26 Thank you to all of the exhibitors who entered under me today for my first appointment, I am very grateful for your support. And thank you to Ashfield & Notts Canine Society for inviting me to judge. A lovely entry of quality dogs meaning some very difficult decisions today! German Shorthaired Pointer Puppy 0/0 Junior 0/0 Post Graduate 1/1 1st - 568 Mr S P & Lady B E Beresford’s “Tuptonsett True Spirit” A wonderful bitch who commanded my attention on the stack at first glance. Great front with super forechest and angles. Brilliant deep chest with nice spring of rib and good loins, which gave her a lovely balanced outline. Lovely noble head with a strong jaw and great clean scissor bite. Lovely set ears and a nice strong neck. Excellent drive from her well angulated rear, with her top line holding level throughout. Her handler did very well to show off her steady, vigorous movement on a difficult ground. Couldn’t deny her Best of Breed today, and pleased to see she was shortlisted in the group. Open 2/2 1st - 569 Mr S P & Lady B E Beresford’s “Redic Shiraz” Another lovely bitch who was just pipped to the win today by her kennel mate. Great head and expression, nice tight scissor bite. Really nice front with super chest and good angulation. Her top line was strong and held steady on the move. Great rear angles which powered her around the ring and showed off her lovely condition. Unfortunately she wasn’t quite as settled with the ground conditions today but showed me more than enough to deserve Reserve Best of Breed. 2nd - 570 Miss L E Merritt’s “Sperant Chocolate Cosmos JW” Another nice bitch today who just seemed a little unsettled and wasn’t a fan of the spikey ground. She had a good chest however I would prefer slightly stronger angulation in front. Really nice head and expression with a good scissor bite. Good top line which she did hold on the move once she settled. Super rear angles and well muscled hind quarters. Hungarian Vizsla Puppy 0/0 Junior 1/1 1st - 576 Miss C M, Mr T D, Mrs H L Ward, Harrison & Harrison’s “Glenbrows Blush At Tantaraviz JW” What a fantastic young bitch. Only 15 months old and already has everything in the right place. Very balanced outline and stacked with confidence. Lovely head with a kind, noble expression. Excellent scissor bite. Good neck into nice front angles. She was a fantastic mover and didn’t seem to let the ground conditions bother her at all. Super drive from the rear and pushing out well in the front - the best mover of the day for me. Well muscled for her age and a great rich colour. I expect she should surely do well as she matures further. She had that “look at me” factor which couldn’t deny her Best of Breed today. Thrilled to watch her take Group 3 later in the day. Post Graduate 1/1 1st - 577 Mr A Webster-Brown’s “Csucspont Allannah” Lovely, kind expression on this exuberant girl. She was clearly enjoying her day out today which is always lovely to see. Dishy head with eyes of good colour and full of mischief. Nice forechest and well sprung ribs. When she settled she held her topline well on the move, however had a tendency to pace on the go-around. Up and down she was much more settled. Steep croup but good rear angles which did power her along when she settled. A lovely girl whose tail did not stop wagging the entire way around. Reserve Best of Breed. Hungarian Wirehaired Vizsla Puppy 0/0 Junior 1/1 1st - R Court’s “Twelveoaks Red Delicious” Could have taken this young girl home with me today. A super bitch with everything to like. Brilliant head and a cheeky expression. Good neck and well muscled front for her age. Super bone and good substance for one so young. Lovely texture on her well presented coat. Fantastic strong top line which she held nicely on the move once settled. Just needs a little more ring practice to really bring out the best in her. With time I imagine this young girl will trouble the best. Will follow her career with interest. Best of Breed, a shame they couldn’t stay for the group. Weimaraner Puppy 2/2 Two very nice puppies in this class, which gave me a very difficult decision to make! Both could very well change places on any given day. Will follow both of their careers with interest. A fantastic, confident temperament on both of them which will surely give them the advantage as they mature. 1st - 724 Mrs J & Miss E S Darwesh’s “Brownbank Florentine” Super chest already on this young 7 month old bitch. Great shoulder which is already so well muscled. Lovely strong head without any coarseness, and a nice kind expression, with a good tight scissor bite. Super topline which is already so tight and strong on the move. Well sprung rib with a nice short, firm loin which leads into a lovely strong rear. Once focused, a powerful, steady mover, although like many other dogs today just tended to get a little caught out by the spikey ground. Great tail set and carriage. In fantastic condition and great rich silver colour. Best Puppy in Breed, and over the moon to see her take Puppy Group 1. 2nd - 728 Mrs M Suett’s “Silberliss Diamond Cut” Again, another fantastic young bitch with lots to like. Fantastic front. Lovely head with a sweet, noble expression. Good scissor bite. Unfortunately today the ground wasn’t in her favour and it just caused her to lose her topline slightly on occasion & she was just a little unsettled going around. When she did recover she was a great mover. Nice strong rear angles with firm hocks which allowed her nice ground covering movement. Great colour and in lovely condition. Could swap places with 1st on any given day. Junior 1/1 1st - 728 Mrs M Suett’s “Silberliss Diamond Cut” As in Puppy - settled a lot more in this class which gave her the win. 2nd - 726 Miss S Pilatova’s “Sabsky Spilberk” Nice young bitch with a taller frame than 1st, but maturing nicely. A little high in the rear at this stage but I expect this will strengthen and settle with age. Nice deep chest to elbows with good spring of rib. Straight front. Lovely head and expression & scissor bite. Just not the movement of 1st in this class. Post Graduate 1/1 1st - 726 Miss S Pilatova’s “Sabsky Spilberk” As in Junior. Open 2/2 Toughest class of the day for me. Both quality bitches that really put each other through their paces. Both extremely well handled to get the best out of them. 1st - 729 Mrs M Suett’s “Silberliss Saucy Mare JW” Super outline on this girl who stood rock solid for her handler. Brilliant head and expression, and good scissor bite. Excellent strong, firm topline which never broke. Being picky I’d have preferred slightly more forechest on her but it did not detract from her overall quality. Great rear angulation, not overdone in any way, and well muscled hind quarters which powered her around the ring effortlessly. Super tailset and carriage. Nice tight, well arched feet which I notice is a problem in the breed at the moment. Shown in excellent condition, could surely do a days’ work with no issue! Cracking temperament and personality. Very happy to award this girl Best of Breed, and looked great in the group. 2nd - 727 Miss S Pilatova’s “Sabsky Svratka JW” Another really lovely bitch with a fantastic outline. Brilliant forechest and front angles, super head and expression. She had great spring of rib and level top line, leading into a fantastic, well angular rear. Great profile movement however just had a tendency today to toe in slightly going away. In excellent condition and the best coat of todays’ entry. Gave 1st a run for her money, Reserve Best of Breed.
