I would like to thank Salisbury & South Wilts Canine Society for inviting me to judge the Staffordshire Bull Terriers and for giving me the opportunity and privilege to go over some lovely dogs. My sincere thanks also go to the committee, stewards and exhibitors for their warm welcome, support and sporting manner throughout the day. I thoroughly enjoyed my appointment and would like to thank everyone who entered and gave me the opportunity to assess their dogs. All the dogs I went over today were, in general, presented in sound condition, which was very pleasing to see.

1st RAYNSTAFF LAST WORD (Mrs K & Mr A Mc Cafferty)

Promising black bitch of pleasing type and overall balance. Feminine head with good breadth of skull, distinct stop, dark eye and short foreface. Neat ears. Clean neck leading into a well-proportioned front, with good bone and width for age. Close-coupled body with pleasing depth, developing spring of rib and a fairly level topline. Well-developed hindquarters with good bend of stifle and useful second thigh. Short, close coat with small white chest marking. Presented a balanced, active Staffordshire outline.

A very promising youngster who presented a pleasing overall picture, and I was more than happy to award her Best Puppy.

2nd GAZSTAFF’S LET IT BE (Miss C Jelley)

Another promising black bitch with plenty of breed type. Good head of pleasing proportions, with broad skull, pronounced cheek muscles, distinct stop and dark eye giving a typical Stafford expression. Neat ears and a strong, clean neck.

Well boned throughout with a broad front and good depth of brisket. Nicely developed body for age with well-sprung ribs and a firm, level topline. Strong hindquarters with good muscle development and a well-bent stifle. Short, smooth coat in good condition.

1st JACOBEAUS THE LEGACY (Mr C Kerry, Mrs S Houwaart & Miss K Daley)

 Quality black dog of lovely breed type, well balanced and presented in excellent condition. Strong, clean head with good depth throughout, pronounced cheek muscles, neat rose ears and dark round eye giving a typical expression. Correct scissor bite with good strength of muzzle.

Strong, muscular neck flowing into well laid shoulders, good width of front and depth of brisket, with straight, well-boned forelegs and neat feet. Compact and close coupled through the body with a level topline, well sprung ribs and powerful, muscular hindquarters with well bent stifles and hocks well let down.

Moved with purpose and drive, maintaining his balance and topline on the move. A very well presented, masculine young dog with plenty of quality and breed type. I was more than happy to award him 1st in Special Yearling and Best of Breed.

1ST KEEP IT LOWKEE AT PINDBYSTAF (Miss T Blagg & Mr I Whitehead)

Strong, masculine red dog, presented in good condition. At the top end for size but well proportioned throughout. Lovely deep mask, giving him a very pleasing and typical expression. Strong head with good depth, pronounced cheek muscles and a strong muzzle.

Powerful, muscular neck leading into a well-developed front, with good depth of brisket and well sprung ribs. Strong through the body with a level topline and muscular hindquarters, showing good bend of stifle and well let down.

1st SKYESTAFF SHE CONQUERED JW (Miss A Hands & Mr D Freeman) 

Quality black bitch of lovely breed type, presented in excellent condition. Feminine yet strong, with a pleasing head and lovely expression. Good depth of skull, pronounced cheek muscles and strong, clean muzzle.

Strong neck, well-developed front, good brisket depth and well-sprung ribs. Compact, balanced and level topline, with excellent muscling, powerful hindquarters, good bend of stifle and well-let-down hocks.

Moved soundly with purpose and good drive from behind. A very well-put-together bitch and narrowly missed Best of Breed but was awarded Reserve Best of Breed.

2nd TRAWDEN SUMMER BREEZE (Mrs VG Batten & Mr PJ Batten)

Red and white bitch of good breed type, presented in excellent condition. Strong, masculine head with good depth, pronounced cheek muscles and a pleasing expression. Strong neck leading into well placed shoulders, with good width to the front and depth through the body.

A particularly well-muscled dog throughout, showing strength without losing balance. Well sprung ribs, strong loin and a good level topline, which he maintained well when standing. Powerful hindquarters with good definition and a pleasing overall outline.
