Breed: Irish Setter

Thank you to the Committee for the kind invitation and to my Stewards for the smooth running of the day. Sincere thanks to the Exhibitors for their entry and for bringing quality to the ring. I thoroughly enjoyed going over some lovely examples of the breed.

Irish Setter:

1.Mclaren’s Keljaru Taif Rose At Teuschon – 11 months old bitch. A balanced and elegant young girl. Presents a clean outline. Attractive feminine head with well-defined stop. Correct dark eyes. Low set ears. Sweet expression. Body of good length with good depth of chest, developing appropriately for age. Well sprung ribs. Forequarters sound. Hindquarters moderately angulated, showing good turn of stifle and well let down hocks. Correct tail set. Presented in beautiful coat. Moved freely and soundly. A promising baby. Best Puppy

1.Holehan-Green & Green’s Loganrish Winter Pearl Moon – 1 year old bitch, just into Junior. A balanced, elegant, racy young bitch. Presents an clean, refined outline. Feminine throughout. Head long and lean with a moderate stop. Dark eyes of correct shape. Ears set low and well back. Soft and gentle expression. Clean neck slightly arched. Correct shoulder placement. Topline gently sloping from withers to tail. Body of good length with good depth of chest. Well sprung ribs. Correct forequarters, shoulders moderately laid back. Hindquarters moderately angulated, supporting efficient drive. Presented in beautiful coat and condition. Moved soundly showing good reach and drive. A very promising youngster.

2. Macfarlane’s Harelferg Macfarlane For Umfrido – 18 monts old dog. A well balanced dog, shows good strength and substance while retaining elegance. Clean refined head with good proportions. Dark eyes of correct unshelled almond shape. Ears set low. Kind and gentle expression. Good reach of neck, clean and slightly arched. Topline showing correct gentle slope. Body of good length and proportions. Good spring of ribs and depth of chest. Shoulders well placed with correct angulation. Straight forelegs with correct bone. Well developed muscular hindquarters. Lovely coat which should complete with time. Sound and true both coming and going. Unlucky to meet the class winner on the day, but time is on his side.

1.Macflarlane’s Harelferg New Tricks For Umfrido ShCEx - A well balanced dog throughout, strong yet elegant and racy in outline. Head long and lean with moderate stop. Well shaped dark eyes. Ears set low. Kind and gentle expression. Neck slightly arched flows smoothly into the shoulders. Correct gently sloping topline. Holds topline well both standing and on the move. Balanced body proportions with good depth of chest and good spring of ribs. Shoulders moderately laid back. Well constructed front assembly. Hindquarters strong and powerful. Correct rear angulation. Presented in good coat and condition. Moved freely with good reach and drive. Reserve Best of Breed

1.Holehan’s Loganrish Out On The Town JW – A well balanced dog who carries himself with presence, elegance and quality. Attractive head, long and lean with moderate stop. Correct, dark almond shaped eyes, well set ears. Kind and gentle expression. Good reach of neck, neck clean and slightly arched. Gently sloping topline, which he held well on the move. Body of good length with correct depth of chest. Excellent front assembly and well laid shoulders. Hindquarters strong and powerful, well developed second thigh and balanced rear angulation. Lovely tight feet. Tail well set. Shown in superb coat and condition. Moved freely with good reach and drive, showing balanced action, coming and going. Carried his tail well on the move. A quality dog with much to admire. Pleased to award him Best of Breed.
