Exeter and County Canine Society Open Show

Big thank you to the committee for the invitation to judge at their beautifully run show, and to all the exhibitors who came and made the day a very special one in the sunshine and enjoying our outdoor ring. A big show of appreciation to my ring steward who kept us in tip top shape and running smoothly, without people like you shows wouldn’t as amazing as they are so thank you for your time and laughter. It was great to see some amazing quality dogs, and people supporting each other, the way shows should be which was lovely to see and be a part of.

Class 226 – Post Graduate – 7/0

1st – 604 – Crumpsbrook Escher – Mrs A and Mr P Ryder

For this two year old girls second ever show she made her handler work for it today, but it paid off so it definitely was worth the day out. She is alert and energetic and strong in body. Her head is well proportioned to her body and elongated, sufficiently broad but still feminine, slightly rounded, no pronounced occiput. Strong jaw muscles, well formed. Nose black in colour with wide soft nostrils. No pronounced stop. Lips slightly rounded and well fitting. Medium size, dark eyes, not deep set nor protruding with no haw showing, giving an intelligent expression. Ears broad, set on high, lying close to the head, with rounded tip. Mouth strong and sound, well developed teeth, perfect, regular and complete scissor bite. Strong muscular neck, slightly arched, joining the shoulder and chest smoothly. Chest wide with a good depth of brisket. Shoulders well laid back, forelegs straight with strong pasterns. Firm, strong back, short coupled, higher at the withers, sloping towards the croup and tail. Wide well muscled loin, wide croup. Ribs well sprung, deep and reaching well to the loin. Nice taut abdomen with slight tuck up. Length of body from point of shoulder to point of point of buttock, equal to height at her withers. Hips broad, well muscled thighs, well turned stifles with well let down hocks. Nice tight, moderately rounded, well knuckled with dense hair between the toes, well padded, with strong well kept nails. Tail well set on in line with her back, base thick tapering towards the tip, well feathered. Tail carried well horizontally and slightly curved upwards in the ring today. In the ring she moved with total ease, free and long striding, springy gait with great ground covering. Her coat long and dense in fantastic condition, well feathered on her chest, forelegs, hindlegs and tail. Pleasure going over her today even though she made her handler work hard for it they certainly had a lot of fun. Congratulations on RBOB today.

2nd – 607 – Leriton Corvus Astron – Ms C Simpson and Mrs L Johnston

Thirteen month old female just out of puppy this pup still has some maturing to do but she stands out, a beautiful slick feminine bitch, with a bright future. Energetic and alert with good muscle tone throughout. Well proportioned head to her body, elongated skull broad but still feminine, slightly rounded no pronounced occiput or stop. Strong jaw muscles, well developed. Nose black in colour with wide soft nostrils. Eyes not deep set or protruding, with no haw showing her dark eyes giving an intelligent expression. Ears broad and set high, lying flat and close to her head with a rounded tip. Mouth is strong and sound with a perfect, regular and complete scissor bite. Strong, muscular neck slightly arched, joining the shoulders and chest smoothly. Chest wide and good depth of brisket, ribs well sprung, deep and reaching up to the loin. Shoulders well laid back, forelegs straight with strong pasterns. Firm strong back, short coupled, slightly higher at her withers, smoothly sloping towards the croup and tail. Wide loin with good muscle and wide croup. Nice taut abdomen with slight tuck up. Proportions length of body point of shoulder to point of buttock equals height at her withers. Her hips are lovely and broad, with well muscled thighs, and a good turn of stifle and hocks well let down. Tight, moderately rounded, well knuckled, well padded feet with strong well kept nails. Tail well set on and in line with her back, base of tail thick tapering evenly towards the tip, well feathered. She moved well in the ring with grace and ease. Long strides and springy gait. Well textured coat, long and dense, with great feathering on chest, forelegs, hindlegs and on her tail. A wonderful young bitch, still maturing but coming on lovely, I very much look forward to her future.

1st – 601 – Kamaze Dance In The Dark – Mr P W Disney

This four year old dog is a keen worker seen today with his partnership with his handler in the ring. He is strong and muscular in body, alert, energetic, handler focused which is wonderful to see in a multipurpose gundog. He caught my eye with his wonderful condition, shiny coat and effortless movement when he entered the ring, a showman. He loved every second in that ring and it shows. Masculine broad skull, slightly rounded with no pronounced occiput. Head is well proportioned to the size of his body and is elongated, with no pronounced stop. Strong jaw muscles, well formed. Nose black in colour with wide soft nostrils. Lips slightly rounded and well fitting. Medium sized, dark eyes giving an intelligent expression, with eyes not deep set or protruding, with no haw showing. His ears are broad and set high, lying flat close to his head, with a rounded tip. Long silky hair on his ears extending beyond the tip. Mouth strong and sound, with well developed teeth. Perfect, regular and complete scissor bite. Strong, well muscled neck, slightly arched, joining shoulder and chest smoothly. Chest wide, with good depth of brisket. Shoulders well laid back. Forelegs straight with strong pasterns. Nice firm, strong back, short coupled. Slightly higher at the withers with a smooth slope towards the croup and tail. He has a wide, well muscled loin. Taut abdomen, with slight tuck up. Length of body equals his height at withers. Broad hips, well muscled thighs, well turned stifles, hocks well let down. Well kept, moderately rounded feet, tight, well knuckled, with dense hair between his toes, well padded with nice strong nails. Well set tail in line with back, base thick tapering of towards the tip, well feathered. Tail carried well horizontally slightly curved upwards whilst on the move. He moved with ease, loved his time in the ring, free and long striding, with a lovely springy gait a pleasure to watch. Coat long and dense, with a lovely texture, in a wonderful condition well feathered chest, forelegs, hindlegs and tail. A pleasure going over him today and to award him BOB, and congratulations on getting shortlisted in a strong gundog group it was wonderful to see.

2nd – 605 – Ekkolander Persephone Red At Leriton – Ms C Simpson and Mrs L Johnston

Its lovely to see a working Munsterlander in the ring and having the pleasure of going over her today. By definition a multi purpose gundog, alert, and energetic and enjoying the outdoor ring. Good to see a great bond between handler and this four year old dog in the ring. She is athletic with a strong muscular body. Feminine skull just broad enough, slightly rounded with no prominent occiput. Head well proportioned to her size and elongated with no pronounced stop. Strong jaw muscles, well developed. Black nose with wide soft nostrils. Rounded lips well fitting. Intelligent expression, with medium dark eyes, not deep set or protruding with no haw showing. Ears are broad and set high, lying flat and close to her head with a rounded tip. Lovely textured hair extending beyond her ear tips. Mouth strong and sound, with well developed teeth. Perfect, regular and complete scissor bite. Well muscled neck, slightly arched joining the shoulder and chest smoothly. Chest, wide and with good depth of brisket, ribs well sprung, deep and reaches well up to the loin. Shoulders well laid back. Forelegs straight with strong pasterns. Firm, strong back short coupled. Slightly higher at the withers, sloping towards croup and tail. Wide well muscled loin, with wide croup. Nice taut abdomen with slight tuck up. Length of body equal to her height at her withers giving her nice balance. Broad hips with nice well muscled thighs. Well turned stifle and hocks well let down. Moderately rounded, well knuckled, tight, feet, nice to see them well kept, well padded with strong nails. Correct tail set on in line with her back, base of tail is thick tapering towards the tip, carried horizontally with a slight curve upwards on the move, nicely feathered. She moved well with great enthusiasm, long striding and a springy gait, covered ground with ease. Her hair long and dense in great condition with a wonderful silky texture. She’s a lovely bitch to go over, a real joy to watch in the ring, so thank you for coming out into the ring today.
