Exeter and County Canine Society Open Show

Big thank you to the committee for the invitation to judge at their beautifully run show, and to all the exhibitors who came and made the day a very special one in the sunshine and enjoying our outdoor ring. A big show of appreciation to my ring steward who kept us in tip top shape and running smoothly, without people like you shows wouldn’t as amazing as they are so thank you for your time and laughter. It was great to see some amazing quality dogs, and people supporting each other, the way shows should be which was lovely to see and be a part of.

Class 234 – Post Graduate – 2/1

1st – 633 – Rivertone Athena Over Silbermeer – Miss L Jefferies

A fourteen-month-old bitch with a wonderful silver-grey coat in great condition. A feminine skull with a moderate stop giving equal proportions. Grey nose with a straight foreface, a kind alert expression with bright round eyes. Correct ear set and length. Lips flesh coloured and in showing mouth a correct and complete scissor bite. Moderately long length of neck well muscled. Forelegs straight and strong. Showing a great example of 12:10 proportions. Level topline shown beautifully on the move with a slightly sloping croup. Chest well developed and deep showing good proportions, well sprung ribs, with ribcage extending well back and a short firm loin and tucked up flank. Brisket dropped to elbow. Well muscled hindquarters for one still so young, with well turned stifle and hocks well let down. Feet firm, compact with well arched toes, thick pads and well trimmed nails. Correct tail set and carriage on the move. Very excited in movement today, happy to be in the ring and gone over which is lovely to see. She covered ground well and with ease and her topline remained strong and level throughout, a pleasure to go over and watch. Wonderful to award RBOB today.

2nd – 635 – Sabsky Karlstejn – Mrs D J and Mr J R Kerslake

Almost twelve months of age this male is an exuberant teenage puppy full of playful energy very happy to be in the ring with his handler. He has a lovely short silky silver grey coat. Beautiful blue round eyes, giving a keen and kind expression. Masculine head with a moderate stop, equal distance from nose to stop and stop to occipital prominence. Flews moderately deep, foreface straight, skin tightly drawn, nose grey in colour. Correct ear set and length. Strong jaw, complete and correct scissor bite. Lips and gums flesh coloured. Moderately long length of neck, well muscled. Forelegs straight and strong, measurement from elbow to ground equidistant from elbow to top of the withers. 12:10 proportions throughout maturing nicely but the proportions still fit. Level topline shown in stack and on the move, with a slight slope on the croup. Well developing chest, deep, ribs well sprung, ribs extending well back to short firm loin. Abdomen firm with flank moderately tucked up. Brisket drops to his elbows nicely. Well muscled hindquarters and developing nicely as a young dog, moderately angulated, with a well turn of stifle, hocks well let down. Feet compact and firm, with thick pads and toes well arched and nails upkept. Tail set carried below level of back when relaxed and raised when on the move, carried correctly. Excited on the move today, I can see so much potential in this boy, so keep up the work with him. Level topline seen on the move strong and solid, movement when settled is effortless, just distracted today, looking forward to seeing his future. Well done on BP today.

Class 235 – Open – 2/1

1st – 631 – Dartview Formula One – Mrs K L Goord

This three year old dog has his silver grey coat in fantastic condition. Well muscled and and conditioned throughout. Masculine head, moderately long, with moderate stop showing equal proportions. Flews deep surrounding a powerful jaw. Foreface straight with skin tightly drawn. Nose grey in colour, with blue grey eyes of medium size giving a kind, keen expression. Long, lobular, slightly folded and set high. Jaws strong, with complete and correct scissor bite. Clean moderately long neck well muscled. Forelegs straight and strong. Correct proportions elbow to ground, elbow to withers, wonderful front constructions. 12:10 ratio point of shoulder to point of buttock being greater than height at the withers. He has a strong level topline shown wonderfully in stack and beautifully on the move around the ring today, with a slightly sloping croup. Chest is well developed and deep, ribs well sprung, ribcage extending well back to a short, firm loin. Brisket reaching the elbow. Abdomen firmly held, with a moderate tuck up. Hindquarters moderately angulated, well turned stifle, hocks well let down, well muscled. Feet compact and firm, toes well arched, pads close and thick, nails well kept. Tail well set, good substance in proportion to body size reaching the hocks. Carried well on the move, very happy to be showing outside in the sunshine. Effortless movement, powerful with drive and coordination, topline strong and level. Lovely to see an engaging dog having fun in the ring and looking in wonderful condition. Overjoyed to award BOB today, looking forward to seeing more of this boy.

2nd – 634 – Rivertone Aurora Over Silbermeer – Miss L Jefferies

Two and a half year old bitch in wonderful condition with a lovely shiny silver grey coat. Feminine skull with moderate stop, equal proportions. Flews moderately deep, encasing a powerful jaw. Foreface straight, delicate at the nostrils, nose grey in colour. Eyes medium and round giving a kind, intelligent expression. Ears long and lobular, slightly folded, correct ear set. Jaws strong with correct dentition and complete scissor bite. A clean moderately long neck well muscled, flowing into a well angulated front. Forelegs straight and strong, correct measurements from elbow to ground and elbow to withers. 12:10 proportions painting a lovely balanced picture of this bitch. Topline level, slightly sloping at the croup. Chest well developed and deep, brisket reaching the elbows well. Ribs well sprung, and ribcage extending well back to a firm short loin. Abdomen is firmly held with a nice moderate tucked up flank. Hindquarters have good muscle, moderately angulate, with well turned stifle, hocks well let down. Feet have close and thick pads, with well arched toes, firm and compact. Nails could be better kept but not unruly, regular upkeep to keep quicks back will keep paws neat and tidy. Correct tail set good feel in proportion to body, carried well on the move showed well. Fidgety on the move today so didn’t see her at her best today, but does show good drive and coordination, level topline could be seen and held herself well. Think being outdoors in the sunshine got the better of her. Very much looking forward to having the chance to go over her again in future.
