Tredegar & District Canine Society

Breed: Dalmatian

Tredegar and District Canine Society Open Show

18th October 2026

Dalmatians

Thank you for the invitation to judge at this relaxed and friendly show, one I have attended as an exhibitor at a few different venues now. I was warmly welcomed and well-looked after by the committee and my excellent stewards Linda and Alan. Thank you to all exhibitors for bringing your dogs under me today.

DALMATIANS

My focus was to find a typical dalmatian with steady and economical movement. Our ring was a reasonable size, but I still asked for plenty of movement to give the best possible picture of the dogs. I am looking for dogs that are fit and well balanced and could fulfil the endurance aspects of a working carriage dog.

PUPPY (2,1A, 1W)

JUNIOR (2,1A)

1. CARRINGTON’S CAPRILLI REMEMBER FOR ME FOR LADALLYVITA, 17 M/O Black Spotted Btch. One I judged as a puppy whom I still see great potential in. A pretty and elegant feminine head, nice dark eye and ears carried well to frame the face. Excellent front and forechest that has continued to develop well. Strong straight legs, plenty of bone, tight cat feet. Balanced moderate angulation. Carrying a little more covering than preferable at the moment but easily remedied. Today she moved out true, with an excellent head and tail carriage but just not quite driving through from the rear as I have seen from her before.

POST GRADUATE (5, 3A)

1. WILLIAMS AND TANSWELL’S CARODAL WELCOME WAY VIA WALTZAWAY JW- 18 M/O Black Spotted Dog. Masculine boy with broad flat skull with super dark eye, ears used well to frame face. Would prefer a little more length to muzzle to balance the head ratios. Good lay of shoulder. Strong straight legs with plenty of round bone, tight cat feet. Good front and forechest and deep brisket. Well-muscled rear with good second thigh. Moderate angulation. On the move was true in all directions, showing excellent reach and drive. Free and easy movement in the challenge. Best of Breed and pleased to see he was awarded G3 in a strong Utility Group.

2. ENGLAND’S SILVERSPOT ODESSI OF THE SEA- 2Y/O Black Spotted Dog. Beautifully decorated. Preferred his head to 1, ears carried well to frame a handsome face with dark oval eye. Elegant neck into well-defined withers. Strong round bone down to tight cat feet. Ribs nicely sprung and carried well back. Strong level back. Good tail set and carriage. Good freedom of movement with excellent reach.

OPEN (4, 2A)

1. ENGLAND’S SILVERSPOT VOYAGE OF THE SEA- 2 Y/O Liver Spotted Dog. A masculine stamp of a dog, up for size but all in proportion and balanced. Nice head, broad flat skull, good oval eye although would prefer slightly darker, ears used well. Soft expression. Well defined withers and good lay of shoulder, strong round bone into tight cat feet. Level back and firm strong loin. Well-muscled rear with good second thigh and well-defined strong hocks. Good freedom of movement with excellent drive. A picture of strength and fitness. Very close but happy to award him RBOB today.

2. SAUNDER’S HAFWENNA HOUSE OF STARK FOR GIFFWINNOAH- 3 Y/O Black Dog, of a finer type. Well decorated with rich bold spotting. Broad flat skull, sparkling dark eye. Elegant neck into well-defined withers. Good lay of shoulder. Moderate angulation. He moved out true and tracked up well with a strong topline. Made great use of an excellent tail set and carriage. Just not the overall substance of 1.

3. WILLIAMS AND TANSWELL’S NALDERHILL APHRODITE AT WALTZAWAY VW
