Herts & Essex Border Canine Society – 22 March 2026

Retriever (Golden)

MP (3,1abs): 1. Seamons, Seamons & Beeson’s Messano Sweetness & Light pale gold B of just 6M, delightful pup just as she should be this age, pretty head with a lovely dark eye, cheeky expression & dark pigmentation, good length of neck into correct front assembly, good depth of chest, elbows close, good topline & tailset with tail carried straight off on the move, well bent stifles, good bone and feet, once settled she moved well for such a baby, BP 2. Woodhouse’s Lamancha Voyager darker gold D of 9M, well grown boy, masculine head with dark eye and pigment, well coated, correctly constructed all round, tight feet, was difficult to get a true picture of him as he was very distracted by everything around him, just found him a bit too heavy all through for my taste, moved ok

P (3,1): 1. M Sweetness & Light – repeat of MP

J (6,2): 1. Stonebridge’s Toseland Two Can Have A Party paler B of just 13M, head needs to finish yet but I found it appealing, good eye colour & pigment, she used her correctly set ears to effect, strong clean neck into well laid shoulders, good topline & tailset which she holds on the move, well coated without being overdone and well feathered, well angulated hindquarters and good width & depth of thigh, moved well, the more I looked at her the more I liked her, pushed hard for BOB but had to settle for RBOB 2. Poile & Blackboro’s Cherrimar Electra darker gold B of almost 15M, nice size & type, pretty head and expression, neat front with good depth, well bent stifles, strong bone to good feet, level topline & correct tailset, moved soundly 3. Foreman’s Ambersun Winter Treasure

SY (7): 1. Knight & Cooke’s Haydengold Backchat JW 2.5Y pale gold D, upstanding male, broad in skull with a lovely expression from dark eyes, strong neck into well laid shoulders, excellent depth with elbows tight to his chest, well boned legs to good feet, correctly angulated fore & aft, moved soundly with drive maintaining a good topline 2. C. Electra – 2nd in J 3. Middleton-Collins’ Berrymeade Dream on With Jasperleigh JW SGWC

L (5,1): 1. Wheeldon & Hurry’s Dewmist Dolce Vita with Cannels (Imp Swe) 2Y pale gold B, substantial girl but not overdone & retaining femininity, loveliest of heads with a super expression, balanced all through, well laid shoulders, excellent forechest, short coupled with well sprung ribs, correct topline & tailset, well boned legs to lovely round feet, on the move she covered the ground with drive and style, pleased to award her BOB 2. Middleton-Collins’ Berrymead A Fool in Love of Jasperleigh JW almost 3Y mid gold D, lovely masculine balanced head, correct earset, strong neck, correct front assembly with plenty of depth & tight elbows, well boned legs to good feet, tended to carry his tail a little high on the move but he was rather distracted by the girls on the day and his handler did well to keep his attention as much as she did, nice positive mover 3. Hush’s Ousevale Breeze at Benrowan

O (2): 1. Barber’s Messano Just Good Friends with Swansreach almost 6Y mid gold D, attractive head with dark eye, although I would have preferred fractionally less stop, excels in forechest, well constructed front assembly, strong bone to tight round feet, good length of neck flowing smoothly into his topline, nicely angled hindquarters with well let down hocks which he used well on the move which was sound & driving 2. Bowden’s Gillbryan Midnight in Paris (Imp Swe) mid gold B of 2.5Y, bigger size, head ok with lovely dark eye but she did have a rather worried expression, good front & rear angles, balanced all round, nicely coated, she was more relaxed on the move which was sound and ground covering
