My thanks for Jacky Cutler & her committee for the kind invitation to judge at this well run show and to my steward Lisa for keeping the ring running smoothly, biggest thanks to the exhibitors for your support with some lovely entries
Jack Russell Terrier
SY (3): 1. Broom’s Roxway Miss Lotus 16m B, smart little W/T girl, well balanced all round, with well angulated front and rear, in a good broken coat, moved out with drive covering the ground with ease, BOB 2. Fincham’s Lindcoly Princess Tiana 15M W/T B smaller size girl, not the substance or balance of 1, pretty head with keen expression, correctly set ears, enough bone, neat feet, moved well 3. Collins & Powley’s Capshulacan Potoooooooo
L (1): 1. Collins & Powley’s Capshulacan Ifbutwhynot 6Y W/T smooth B, good head balance, with good eye colour giving a nice expression, well boned legs but not as straight as I’d like when viewed from the front, enough depth of chest, tight elbows, neat feet, moved ok, RBOB
English Setter
P (1): 1. White’s Paduan Frankincense 9M OB B, good head with well-defined stop & occiput, dark brown eyes with soft expression, needs to tighten a little around eyes but this should come as her head matures, good neck into correct front assembly, enough angulation behind, well boned legs to good feet, coat just right for age, moved well for a baby, BP
SY (4): 1. Naulls Nellasett Truly Truly 16M Tri B, lovely balance, presented in super coat & condition, long, lean head, dark hazel eye with a gentle expression, clean neck into correct shoulders, to be picky would have liked just a fraction more forechest, balanced angles, well boned legs to tight arched feet, moved out with reach & drive, pushed hard for RBOB 2. Wynne-Evans Droveborough One Love another Tri B this one is 17M balanced head with dark brown eye, good length of neck but not quite the shoulder placement of 1, good coat & feathering, good in forechest, couldn’t quite match the balance and movement of 1 today 3. Wilson’s Sharnyx Reyncloud at Lucanix
L (4): 1. Watkin’s Albadora Totally Yours for Valsett JW smart OB 2Y B, lovely head with such a kind expression, excellent forequarters, strong neck sweeping into a short, level back, well sprung ribs and depth, good sweep of stifle, well boned legs to tight feet, tail carried straight off back and maintaining a strong topline on the move which she did with ground covering ease, super coat & feathering finished the picture, in the challenge she couldn’t be denied BOB 2. Ridsdill’s Sharnyx She’s So Pretty OB B of 3.5Y super head and eye, good neck into well laid shoulders, well off for depth & spring of rib, good rear angulation which she used to drive round the ring keeping a good topline & tail set 3. McLoughlin’s Arabin Love Maybe
O (3): Three super movers in this class 1. Neath’s Albadora Total Madness JW this BB D is litter brother to winner of Limit and is as masculine as she is feminine, he has a super head with a dark brown eye which just draws you in, liked him for size and type, so well balanced with great bone & substance but nothing overdone, great feet, strong topline & correct tail set, good width & depth of thigh and well-muscled, stood over his ground well and drove round the ring in style, thought he would be my BOB but sadly in the challenge he had a change of handler and just wasn’t wanting to cooperate so had to give way to his sister but still did enough to be awarded RBOB, 2. Ridsdill’s Sharnyx Here’s Bonnie 4.5Y BB B such a sweet head of correct proportions with expressive dark hazel eyes, good reach of neck into well laid shoulders, excellent in forechest, well bent stifles, in good coat and nicely presented, another who impressed on the move in profile but was just toeing a little coming towards me but nonetheless a lovely bitch 3. McLoughlin’s Arabin Silver Panda
Irish Setter
P (2): Two naughty pups of 7M who really made me smile, just how pups should be, thoroughly enjoying themselves and learning their job 1. Box’s Fernstart Lionheart this D was the older of the two by 2 weeks he is a lovely shape and size, good head & eye, well-constructed forehand with super depth of chest and ribbed well back, excellent bone & feet, lovely rich chestnut coat with enough feathering for age, well boned legs to good feet, moved well once settled, in the challenge he really came together and I was pleased to award him BP & RBOB 2. Bougen’s Gwendariff Bamm Bamm (IKC) lovely head on this B, so well balanced, nice neck flowing into a good topline & down to the correct tailset, correct front with good forechest, deep through chest, excellent sweep of stifle and great muscle for her age, just wasn’t so together on the move as 1 but very promising
SY (1): White’s Paduan True Light the standard calls for “racy” and to my eye this girl epitomises this, at 17M she has a balanced head which is long & lean, to be picky I’d have liked it just a fraction wider, correct ear set, her moderately long neck is clean and flows neatly into her topline which was strong and straight, good in forechest, well laid shoulders, good depth of chest with well sprung ribs, elbows in tight, super rear angulation, well boned legs, front feet could be a little tighter, in a lovely rich chestnut coat with enough feathering, on the move she was sound and driving with good reach in front, in the challenge she was an easy winner of BOB
L (2,1abs): 1. Adam’s Paduan Ready For Love At Danbryeli 3Yr B, good head with lovely dark brown eyes with a kind expression, would have liked more layback of shoulder, good topline with slight slope down to tail, good width of thigh & nice rear angulation, well coated and muscled but lacked propulsion on the move
O (3,1): 1. Davis’s Pawsword Prairie Wind With Alanasett JW I liked this boy in profile and it was hard to believe he is 10.5Y old, he is well balanced all through, good head & dark brown eye, good front assembly with matching rear angles, still carrying a rich chestnut coat with hardly any trace of grey at all and probably the best feet of the day, unfortunately it fell apart slightly on the move but I saw enough to give him this class 2. Adams’s Harreds Sophie at Danbryeli 8Y B who was rather heavy all through, sweet head & expression, good angulation fore & aft but lacked the raciness of the breed for me, plenty of coat but it was rather wavy, moved ok
Spaniel (English Springer)
P (2): 1. Unwin’s Lymnoares Rattle and Roar 9M L/W D, lovely head of good proportions, ears of good length and correct set, eyes need to darken a little more but a nice expression, well off for bone, strong slightly arched neck into well laid shoulders, strong topline & correct tail set, good forechest, straight front, elbows kept tight to chest, well boned legs to nice tight feet, nicely angulated behind he moved very soundly and steadily BP 2. Wilson’s Elazlan Gold Leaf at Zawspring B/W/T D of just 6 months lovely head with dark brown eye giving a gentle expression, nice size with super bone & feet, well angulated all round, another lovely mover for his age, not quite as together as 1 at this stage
SY (2): 1. Keely’s Alhambian’s Sally Traffic L/W/T 13M B, lovely size, head a little square, slightly longer muzzle would balance it better and I would have liked a slightly darker eye to give a softer expression, ears set correctly & of good length, nice length of neck into well laid shoulder, good in forechest and depth with good spring of rib, well angulated hindquarters, tight feet, level topline which she held on the move, moved ok 2. Wallis, Savell & Osbourne’s Petranella Strike it Rich L/W B 15M difficult to assess this girl as she was giving her handler a hard time, preferred her head & eye colour to 1, enough neck, forehand assembly ok but had a tendency to pull her hindlegs under her spoiling her outline, not the width or depth of thigh of 1, moved well in profile but was a tad close behind going away
L (5): 1. Proctor’s Forgespring Nobody’s Fool At Blissenbea JW 2Y B/W B, lovely head of correct proportions with a melting expression from her dark brown eyes, good front assembly, strong topline to correct tailset, nice angulation fore & aft, well boned legs to tight feet, in excellent coat & feathering, covered her ground on the move with drive, RBOB 2. Osbourne’s Tiroen Typically Braego (KCJ) L/W/T B of almost 4Y, fractionally bigger all round than 1 but so well constructed, lovely balance from head to tail, clean neck, good head with kind expression, straight front, tight elbows, good feet, super mover, probably best of the day and certainly looks like she could do a days work, not quite the finish of 1 but a nice girl 3. Unwin’s Allenies Lady Marmalade
O (2): 1. Keely’s Khaleesi De Les Tres Llacunes with Alhambian (Imp Esp) 4.5Y L/W B who caught my eye as she came into the ring, she reminded me of some of the Springers of old, most beautiful head with melting expression, clean neck transitioning smoothly into correct forehand with excellent forechest, strong topline to correct tail set & carriage, well ribbed back, elbows held tight to the chest, well boned legs and neat, tight feet, excellent width & depth of thigh, her handler tended to hold her back a little on the move but when allowed to go she moved with real drive & purpose, in good coat & feathering although feathering on tail trimmed off, BOB 2. Proctor’s Petranella Perfick Bliss At Blissenbea L/W 5.5Y B, not the head of 1 but was balanced with correct earset and eye colour, good neck to well laid shoulder, level topline to slightly arched croup, nicely angulated hindquarters, in good coat & feathering, preferred the overall balance of 1, moved soundly once settled
Spaniel (Welsh Springer)
L (1): 1. Gaylor & Robertson’s Gilstonia Run Red Rum for Aprilflash 2.5Y D, smart boy, nicely balance all round, head of correct proportions, lovely dark brown eye giving a soft expression, well off for bone, tight elbows, good depth of chest & spring of rib, strong topline to slightly arched loin, firm, round feet, well angulated hindquarters, rich red & white coat with enough feathering, sound, ground covering movement, BOB
O (2): 1. Burchmore, Bowd & Smith’s Lenamore Renegade (AI) 2Y D, nice head with medium brown eye, good front, well boned legs to tight feet, nicely balanced, strong neck, in super coat & feathering, couldn’t quite match the movement of the BOB today, RBOB 2. Wallington’s Ferndel Renzo at Rovinjdal 3Y D, slightly longer on leg & in body than 1 but nicely balanced, nice head & expression, clean neck, good angulation fore & aft, moved ok 3. Bennett’s Gilstonia Wreck It Riley for Flyboron
