Post Graduate

1st – Marshall, Mrs S – CLAELA LAUGHTER IS TIMELESS WITH SOUFRIERE. Mature and well-developed bitch presenting a nicely balanced outline and correct body proportions. Pleasing head with large oval eyes and correctly low-set ears. Strong, clean neck leading into well-laid shoulders, with good depth and spring of rib. Moved with very good action, reaching well in front and showing drive from strong hindquarters.

Open 1st – Marshall, Mrs S – SOUFRIERE ONE VISION JW VW. Veteran bitch of sturdy construction, shown in excellent condition. Very pleasing head with correctly domed skull, large oval eyes and low-set ears. Strong neck flowed into well-laid shoulders. Firm topline which she retained throughout, with well-set and correctly carried tail. Particularly impressed on the move, showing coordinated, free action with good reach and drive, clean and true both coming and going. BoB.

2nd – Marshall, Mrs S – SOUFRIERE PASERELLE BATEAU. Masculine male with plenty of breed character. Particularly liked his eye and expression. Good length of strong neck into well-laid shoulders and a firm, level topline which he maintained on the move. A sound, well-constructed hound. RBoB.

Basset Griffon Vendéen (Petit)

Junior

1st – Cooper & Cadmore, Miss C L & Mrs E – SOLETRADER GOLLY MISS MOLLY. An absolutely delightful young bitch. Beautifully balanced and full of breed type, with a most pleasing head and expression, lovely eye and a very harmonious overall outline. Soundly constructed fore and aft, with a firm topline and correctly set and carried tail. On the move she really came into her own, moving freely, positively and with excellent coordination, reaching well in front and driving strongly from behind while retaining her shape throughout. Exceptionally sound, full of quality and presented in lovely condition. BoB, G1.

2nd – Osbourne, Mr P W – BEAUJONS SOPHIE AVEC BRAEGO. Another sound and nicely proportioned youngster, balanced fore and aft. Appealing head with pleasing eye and expression. Moved soundly, although I would prefer the front feet to point rather more directly forward. Nevertheless, a very typical and well-balanced exhibit.

Post Graduate

1st – Moore, Mrs E – PROBERT CALYPSO. Lovely exhibit for overall shape and balance, with a particularly pleasing pair of large, expressive eyes. Well proportioned and moved very well in profile. Would prefer the topline a shade firmer through the loin. Moved well in profile.

Open

1st – Townsend, Mrs R – AFTERGLOW CURTAIN CALL AVEC ROXASTAN. Larger than my ideal, but this was offset by his balance, sound construction and overall quality. Very pleasing, typical head and a well-proportioned outline. Moved extremely well, free and purposeful with good coordination. RBoB.

2nd – Osbourne, Mr P W – BEAUJONS WAYNE SLEEP WITH BRAEGO. Appealed for size, although I would prefer him a little taller on the leg. Nicely balanced head with large oval eyes and well-set ears giving a very typical expression. Good firm topline and an overall balanced appearance.

Dachshund (Miniature Smooth-Haired)

Puppy

1st – Coote, Mrs S – KELSOMAID BLACK DRAGON. A really lovely feminine puppy who appealed enormously for her shape and outline. Pleasing head and expression and a well-balanced, compact body with sufficient ground clearance. She was determined to enjoy herself and gave her handler plenty to do, but when she settled, her quality became very evident. Moved freely and fluently, retaining a firm topline and showing strength through the hindquarters and hocks. A very promising youngster who I liked enormously. BoB, BP.

2nd – Heels, Miss K J – RAYOL NEVER SAY NEVER WITH DAXANORY. Masculine puppy with a pleasing head, correct eye shape and well-set ears. Covered the ground well and showed useful forward reach. I would prefer a firmer topline, as he tended to dip through the back on the move, which cost him the class.

Junior

1st – Robertson, Mr T & Mrs G – MARVALE SALUTE THE CROWN WITH RAVENWOOD. A little longer through the loin than my ideal, but this was a sound youngster who moved very well. Strong through the loin and maintained a firm, level back while moving. Good length of neck, well-set ears and pleasing eye and expression. Scored particularly in movement and general soundness.

2nd – Coote, Mrs S – KELSOMAID BLAZING COMMET. A bitch I liked a great deal, possessing many of the breed features I was looking for. Attractive, balanced and full of character. She was intent on bouncing her way around the ring, but in the few moments when all four feet were heading in the same direction she demonstrated sound, promising movement.

Post Graduate

1st – Robertson, Mr T & Mrs G – MARVALE CUCKOO AT RAVENWOOD. Shown in excellent condition. Pleasing head and eyes with a good length of clean neck. Well-bodied, although I would prefer rather more clearance between the body and ground. Moved well with free, flowing action and was particularly sound and positive behind.

2nd – Coote, Mrs S – ANDEYSSON CAPE VERDE OF KELSOMAID. Pleasing overall body shape and proportions with a good, firm topline. Moved very well and covered the ground freely. I would prefer the front feet to point rather more directly forward, but nevertheless a sound and well-balanced bitch.

Open

1st – Mutton, Miss T & Miss J – IVAN PODDUBNY IZ OMSKOI KREPOSTI FOR MONTONE (IMP RUS). Nicely balanced dog of good size and proportions. Pleasing head and eye with well-set ears and a strong, typical outline. Maintained a firm topline throughout and moved very well in profile. I would have preferred greater precision behind, but his overall balance and quality secured the class. RBoB.

2nd – Coote, Mrs S – ANDEYSSON CAPE VERDE OF KELSOMAID.

French Bulldog

Junior

1st – Timms, Miss O – OLIJAH STRIPTEASE. Such a delightful puppy. She combines so many of the breed essentials in one beautifully balanced package. Excellent for size, shape and overall proportions, compact and powerful without any suggestion of coarseness. Her head is quite lovely; typical, with the most gorgeous dark, expressive eyes and such and appealing expression. Excellent ears, correctly placed and carried, framing a beautiful head. Strong neck flowing into a well-made body, with a pleasing topline and excellent overall balance. Most impressive is her soundness; she moved with such confidence, freedom and coordination, remaining completely balanced and retaining her outline throughout. BoB, BP.

2nd – Haywood, Mrs J & Mr J – LEYENDA’S BONNIE GOLD. A very nice example of the breed . Just right for size and proportions, compact, balanced and very well constructed. A gorgeous head and expression with lovely dark eyes and typical bat ears, correctly placed and carried. Strong neck, well-made front and a firm, balanced body. She is sound, moving cleanly and truly with very good coordination. She perhaps lacked just a little of the animation and extra sparkle of the winner on the move, but this di not detract from her quality. A lovely French Bulldog and worthy RBoB.

Post Graduate

1st – Quinn, Mrs K & Mr M – CHAREVE’S HAD TO BE YOU. Well-proportioned bitch, of correct size and compactness, with a delightful, enthusiastic character, for me this just added to her appeal. I particularly liked her head, expression and correctly carried ears. Compact and well balanced overall. I would have preferred a more typical rise over the loin to be more evident. Once settled she moved well and soundly.

2nd – Saunby, Miss K M – KIANSPUCHI DARK STORM. Pleasing head and expression. A little longer in body than my ideal and, like the winner, I would prefer more of the characteristic topline. Moved with good free-flowing action and was particularly sound and true coming and going.

Open

1st – Symonds, Ms C – MORRIOGHAIN MARGOMOLE. Liked her overall shape, size and balance. Pleasing head with a strong neck flowing into a well-constructed body. Showed the required gentle rise over the loin and was well angulated without exaggeration. Moved freely and soundly, maintaining her outline.

2nd – Timms, Miss O – MULTI CH CHELMBULL STARY SEAS FOR OLIJAH ShCEx. A wonderful head, with excellent eye and expression and plenty of breed character. Longer through the body than I would prefer, which affected the overall balance against the winner. Nevertheless, her movement was excellent: free, sound and positive.

Boxer

Junior

1st – Spencer, Mrs S – ASHRONSHA DOLLY MY LOVE. Very attractive youngster whose head and expression immediately appealed. Excellent dark eye of pleasing shape, with ears framing the head well. Strong, clean neck, good pasterns and neat feet. Square, balanced outline with correct tail set. Moved very well, showing the reach and drive expected of the breed. BoB, BP, G3, PG1.

2nd – Hinchliffe, Mrs L & Mr S – KIZZYLEE DESDEMONA. Nicely developed head with a good eye and expression. Good reach of neck into a square, well-balanced body. Firm topline which was maintained on the move. A sound and very promising exhibit.

Post Graduate

1st – Spencer, Mrs S – ASHRONSHA MR LOVER LOVER. Masculine dog, towards the upper end for size, but presenting a very good overall shape and square outline. His chest still needs to develop and deepen with maturity. Excellent topline and well-set and carried tail. Very sound on the move. I particularly admired his masculine, characteristic head and expression. RBoB.

2nd – Saunby, Miss K M – MUMMYS BEAUTIFUL ANGEL AT KELSANT. Feminine in outline with a very pleasing head, clear stop and dark expressive eyes. Strong neck leading into well-laid shoulders, with a firm topline. Moved very well with balanced, sound action.

Bernese Mountain Dog

Open

1st – Sokel, Mrs C – KERNOW BLUE LAGOON. Strong, sturdy and very sound exhibit, well constructed throughout and presenting the substantial yet balanced picture required of the breed. Well-balanced head, although I would prefer the eyes a shade darker. Strong, muscular neck, well-developed body and a firm, level topline. Moved with great style, covering the ground effectively and remaining clean and true both coming and going. BoB, G4.

Dobermann

Puppy

1st – Weaver, Miss J – SHALISSA'S DOLCE AN GABANNA. A very substantial puppy and larger than my ideal, but nevertheless nicely balanced and well bodied. Good forechest, strong pasterns and good feet, with pleasing depth through the chest. Square in body with a firm, level topline and acceptable tail carriage. Movement was reasonable for age. BP.

2nd – Farmer, Mrs H & Mr A – TEUSCHON NOVEMBER SKY FIRE. Pleasing for size and body proportions, with good forechest and strong neck. I would prefer a firmer finish to the topline, which sloped over the croup, together with a higher tail carriage. Once settled he moved reasonably well.

Post Graduate

1st – White & Hunt, Mrs M & Ms R – VIRSCO VELOCITY. Feminine bitch, nicely balanced fore and aft. Pleasing head, good neck into well-laid shoulders and a sound front with good chest development. Firm, level topline, although a little longer through the loin than ideal. High-set, well-carried tail. Moved very well with balanced, positive action.

Open

1st – Tant, Mr P & Mrs D – RAFTHOUSE BUNDLEBRENT AT GRANADEYA JW. Nicely balanced both front and rear. Pleasing head with well-set ears, strong neck and well-laid shoulders. Good, firm level topline, high-set tail and useful rear angulation. His movement was a particular strength: exceptionally sound and positive, clean and true coming and going. BoB, G2.

2nd – Maciejewska, Miss J – IVONNE DI CASA PHOENIX (IMP ITA). Nicely proportioned with a pleasing head, good neck and well-developed chest. Firm topline and an overall balanced construction. Sound enough, but lacked the vigour and purpose on the move of the winner.

Any Variety Hound Veteran

Special Veteran 7–9 Years

1st – Catharell, Mrs C L – KINABULA'S MENT TO BE FOR FAAHAC, Rhodesian Ridgeback. I loved this bitch's outline. Balanced, athletic and in excellent condition, with a pleasing head, strong clean neck and well-laid shoulders. Good depth of chest, strong topline and correctly set and carried tail. Particularly impressed on the move, where she was sound, precise and coordinated, covering the ground with ease while retaining her shape.

2nd – Paskins, Mr K S & Mrs S M – KINDEACE TEXAS RANGER ShCEx, Dachshund (Long-Haired). A very sound, well-built veteran presented in excellent muscular condition. Balanced throughout with a strong, firm topline and good tail set and carriage. Moved extremely well, free and flowing and covering the ground with ease. 

Special Veteran 10 Years and Over

1st – Allchorne, Mrs C – CH NELGUS THYME BOMB JW ShCEx VW, Basset Hound. A most pleasing veteran with excellent proportions and a great deal to admire. Typical head with pleasing eye and well-set ears, strong neck and a sound front assembly. Firm topline with well-set and correctly carried tail. Moved beautifully, freely and positively, presenting a balanced and functional picture. Best Veteran.

2nd – Pitcher, Miss D – WILLAKYME DESTINYS PROMISE AT AMPHORAS, Whippet. Lovely shape and outline and presented in excellent condition. Pleasing head and expression with an elegant neck, good depth through the chest and the characteristic flowing topline. Moved adequately and retained her attractive outline.

Any Variety Not Separately Classified – Hound

Puppy

1st – Huynh, Mrs S – LAAKSO MOERKETID, Norwegian Elkhound. A pleasing wedge-shaped head and well-set erect ears. Correctly high-set tail carried tightly over the back. I would prefer a firmer, straighter topline, as he tended to arch over the loin. Moved well. BAVNSC Puppy.

Post Graduate

1st – Paskins, Mr K S & Mrs S M – KINDEACE LONDON'S CALLING JW, Dachshund (Long-Haired). Nicely balanced and sound throughout. Very pleasing masculine head, which gave him the advantage over second, with well-set ears and a good eye. Clean, slightly arched neck, strong level topline and correctly set and carried tail. Moved well with free, coordinated action. RBAVNSC.

2nd – Paskins, Mr K S & Mrs S M – DELSAUX LIFE GOES ON AT KINDEACE, Dachshund (Long-Haired). Very close to the winner and another quality masculine exhibit. Pleasing head, nicely arched neck and well-laid shoulders, with good forechest and a firm level topline. Moved soundly and freely. Two very evenly matched dogs, with my preference ultimately going to the head and expression of the winner.

1st – Paskins, Mr K S & Mrs S M – KINDEACE HIT THE ROAD JACK JW, Dachshund (Long-Haired). Lovely shape and outline, presented in excellent, hard muscular condition. Very sound and well constructed throughout. Pleasing head, eye and ears, with a strong clean neck. Ample forechest, good spring and length of rib and a firm topline. Well-set and carried tail. Moved very well, free and flowing with useful drive from behind. BAVNSC.

2nd – Skinner, Mrs K – BOUGHTON BANDAROO, Greyhound. Lovely, regal bitch with the elegant, sweeping outline one hopes for in the breed. Returning to the show ring after a break and not quite giving her alltoday, but her quality, balance and breed character were apparent.

Any Variety Working Veteran

Special Veteran 7–9 Years

1st – Willis-Impey, Mrs C A – ABACAB'S KUMA, Rottweiler. Pleasing head and eye with a strong neck and well-developed chest. Firm, level back and well-set tail. Moved soundly and steadily around the ring.

2nd – Norton & Thomas, Ms H & Mr R – KALASLANE JUDGE JUDY AT CARANTANA (IKC), Russian Black Terrier. Substantial, strongly made bitch of generally pleasing proportions. Strong, characteristic head and powerful neck. I would have preferred a firmer, more level topline. Moved well.

Any Variety Not Separately Classified – Working

Post Graduate

1st – Clent, Miss V A – DANIXARIS EARL EXEMPLAR, German Pinscher. Shapely dog presenting a pleasing overall outline. Head rather heavier than my ideal, but with well-set ears and a strong neck. Good feet, firm level topline and correctly high-set tail. Moved well, with freedom and purpose in action.

Working Group

Group 1 – Moore & James, Miss C & Mr D – STARNEWF MR DARK SKY JW, Newfoundland. Commanded attention for his power and substance. Strong and substantial throughout, yet balanced and without coarseness. Pleasing head with a broad skull, well-developed muzzle and lovely eye giving the soft, benevolent expression. Powerful neck into a strong, well-made body, with good depth and breadth of chest and a firm, level topline. Exceptionally sound; he moved with real purpose and power, remaining balanced and coordinated with strong drive and an easy, ground-covering action. Delighted to award him G1.

Group 2 – Tant, Mr P & Mrs D – RAFTHOUSE BUNDLEBRENT AT GRANADEYA JW, Dobermann.

Group 3 – Spencer, Mrs S – ASHRONSHA DOLLY MY LOVE, Boxer.

Group 4 – Sokel, Mrs C – KERNOW BLUE LAGOON, Bernese Mountain Dog.

Working Puppy Group

Puppy Group 1 – Spencer, Mrs S – ASHRONSHA DOLLY MY LOVE, Boxer.

Puppy Group 2 – Siberian Husky. A pleasing Sibe with a generally balanced and athletic outline. Still maturing in body. Nevertheless showed sufficient breed type, balance and promise to merit this placing and should benefit considerably from maturity.

Puppy Group 3 – Weaver, Miss J – SHALISSA'S DOLCE AN GABANNA, Dobermann.

Hound Group

Group 1 – Cooper & Cadmore, Miss C L & Mrs E – SOLETRADER GOLLY MISS MOLLY, Basset Griffon Vendéen (Petit).

Group 2 – Akers, Mrs K – CARLINCOX KNOCK EM OFF JW, Rhodesian Ridgeback. A very good-quality Ridgeback, presenting a balanced, athletic and impressive outline. Well constructed and sound, with the strength and symmetry required of the breed. Moved positively and with purpose and was a strong contender in an excellent group.

Group 3 – Newton, Mrs L – CLOUDSIDE RED SKY OVER SHIMALMA, Afghan Hound. A very pleasing Afghan, combining elegance, dignity and breed character. Particularly impressive in movement, where the smooth, stylish and flowing action enhanced the overall picture.

Group 4 – Carlton & Olney, Ms C A & Mr T – CHIENDETOM MELODY, Whippet. Lovely bitch with a beautifully balanced, flowing outline, combining elegance with sufficient strength. Sound throughout and moved well, retaining her attractive shape and presenting a very typical picture.

Hound Puppy Group

Puppy Group 1 – Doughty, Mrs T & Mr R – RUBILTRA FARSHIROVANNAYA, Rhodesian Ridgeback. A very promising puppy of good overall type and balance. Soundly constructed and particularly convincing on the move, where she showed coordinated, positive action. 

Puppy Group 2 – Coote, Mrs S – KELSOMAID BLACK DRAGON, Dachshund (Miniature Smooth-Haired).

Puppy Group 3 – Huynh, Mrs S – LAAKSO MOERKETID, Norwegian Elkhound.
