Firstly, I would like to thank Cumberland Canine for the kind invitation to judge and for the warm welcome and hospitality extended throughout the day. My sincere thanks also go to all the exhibitors for entering under me and for presenting their dogs so beautifully. It was a very well run show, with a lovely atmosphere and excellent organisation. I thoroughly enjoyed my day and was fortunate to have some wonderful dogs to go over. There were some very difficult decisions, with many quality exhibits across the classes, and I would like to congratulate everyone on their placings and thank you all for accepting my decisions so graciously. It was a genuine pleasure to judge and I hope everyone enjoyed the day as much as I did. Chihuahua long coat Puppy Bramver’s remind smile of Kircyan (imp jpn) NAF A lovely, well-balanced puppy with good substance and bone for age. Beautiful outline when standing, with good overall balance and proportion. Good, straight front with correctly aligned forelegs and pleasing parallelism. The front gives a clean, neat picture and complements the overall outline well. When settled, showed a sound side gait. A very cheeky and confident puppy with a lovely temperament. Delighted to award BPIB and Puppy Group 4. Rubyanlo rainbow rich’s Another beautiful puppy with lots of potential, showing many of the same pleasing attributes as 1. A lovely, well balanced puppy with good substance and bone for age and a beautiful outline. Very close between these two puppies, and on another day I could easily see them changing places. Today, however, I felt 1 had the stronger front, which just gave them the edge. Junior Rubyanlo mr magestic A beautiful Chihuahua with an excellent overall picture and lots to admire. Fantastic movement, with brisk, forceful action and excellent drive, showing the characteristic swift moving quality of the breed. The most parallel mover of the day, maintaining good alignment and balance both coming and going. Beautiful, strong colour and a healthy, well presented long coat. Lovely head, with a beautiful, well rounded apple dome skull, large expressive eyes and excellent ear carriage. Always alert and using his ears to full effect, giving that unmistakable Chihuahua expression and saucy character. Good compact, dainty overall type, with a pleasing outline and correct breed character. Handled correctly and moved with real attitude, showing the gay, spirited and intelligent temperament called for in the standard. A very impressive Chihuahua who combined sound construction with excellent movement and plenty of breed character. BOB Bramerita posy of violets at Silverchi A beautiful, very feminine young Chihuahua with lots of quality and much to admire. Small, dainty and compact, with a lovely balanced outline and good overall proportions. Beautiful breed type, with a lovely apple shaped head, good expression and excellent ear carriage, giving the characteristic alert and saucy Chihuahua look. Good front and pleasing overall construction, with sound movement and excellent breed character. A lovely young bitch with plenty of quality and considerable potential. Today, I just preferred the slightly greater size and presence of 1, which gave him the edge. Post graduate Silverchi name that tune A very well balanced bitch, giving the most balanced overall picture of the class. Lovely breed type, with good proportions and a pleasing, compact outline. Perhaps not quite as confident in the ring as some of the others today, but her balance and overall quality were what gave her the advantage. She would benefit from a little more time and ring practice to develop her confidence and show herself to her full potential. A lovely bitch with plenty to admire, and I can see her going a long way as she gains experience. Rubyanlo el vincitore JW A lovely, happy and confident dog who showed himself well in the ring. Strong breed type, with a lovely big, strong apple shaped head and a good, strong tailset. Good overall construction and plenty of Chihuahua character. His side gait was not quite as convincing as 1, and overall I found him slightly less balanced. Nevertheless, a very pleasing dog with a confident ring presence and many good qualities. Open Rubyanlo knock your sox off A nice mature bitch with a pleasing profile and good overall breed type. Lovely head with a good apple-shaped skull and a nice, strong long coat with excellent colour. Good tailset and a pleasing outline from the side. Unfortunately, her front was not as strong as I would like today, which affected the overall balance of movement. Good, tight hindquarters and sound rear construction. She was a little lacking in confidence and personality in the ring today, which made it more difficult for her to show herself to her full potential. A quality bitch with some lovely attributes, who I would like to see showing with more confidence and presence. Chihuahua smooth coat Puppy Silverchi lavender sparkle A stunning Smooth Coat Chihuahua puppy who I absolutely loved. A beautiful, well balanced puppy with excellent breed type and a lovely compact outline, balanced right through from front to rear. Beautiful, strong apple shaped head with a lovely large, expressive eye and excellent Chihuahua expression. Good parallel front and rear, giving a very pleasing overall picture. Confident and wonderfully sassy, showing plenty of the spirited character that makes this breed so special. Slightly nervous on the table today, but once settled she showed herself beautifully. A very exciting puppy with so much quality and one I will be watching with great interest as she matures. Delighted to award her Best of Breed and Best Puppy in Breed Puppy group 1 Junior Silverchi magic moment A very raw 10 month-old puppy with plenty of potential to develop. Good head with a pleasing apple shape and good width between the ears, giving a nice overall expression. At this stage she is still lacking some body and substance, which affects her overall balance, but there is plenty of time for her to mature and fill out. Very raw in the ring today and would benefit from more experience and practice to build her confidence and allow her to show herself to her full potential. A promising young bitch who I hope will develop nicely with age and maturity. Post graduate Misty meadows wish come true for Silverchi A lovely, stocky and compact bitch with good overall breed type. Well balanced and pleasingly parallel both coming and going, giving a sound overall picture. She was perhaps not quite as confident as I would have liked on the day, although once on the floor she showed her true happy and cheeky Chihuahua character. The loud, echoing environment may well have affected her confidence, making it more difficult for her to show herself to her full potential. A very pleasing bitch with good construction and plenty of breed character. Open Silverchi tonight we dance A very impressive masculine dog with plenty of presence and breed character. Excellent power and drive, moving with real attitude and the brisk, forceful action called for in the breed. Strong, masculine head with a beautiful alert expression and excellent ear carriage, giving that characteristic saucy Chihuahua look. Good side gait and well balanced overall, with a lovely profile when moving. His hindquarters were a little less tidy than I would like, and although he had plenty of drive, he was not quite as strong through the rear as the dog I awarded BOB to. A quality male with lots to admire, and a dog who certainly knows how to show himself. Russian toy Junior Moyadacha good gosh A striking 9 month old Russian Toy dog with excellent breed type and beautifully presented. It was clear that 1 and 2 are siblings, being very similar in many of their attributes, but I felt this young dog had the stronger overall picture today. Beautiful glossy, shiny coat and excellent presentation. Lovely head with correct proportions, good eye shape and a pleasing expression. Good width between the ears and a lovely elegant outline. Excellent topline, good tailset and pleasing overall balance, with the correct square proportions giving him a very attractive profile. Good feet and sound construction, with good parallelism and a strong front on the move. A very promising young dog with lovely breed character and plenty of quality. A close decision between these two lovely siblings, but today his stronger front and overall balance gave him the advantage. BOB BPIB Toy puppy group 2 A.V TOY puppy 1 Moyadacha goodroot tsarina Very much identical to 1 (See critique of 1) Garnox rhumm A very nice and promising young dog with lots of quality and plenty to admire. Lovely breed type, with a pleasing head and expression, good proportions and an attractive overall outline. Beautiful coat and good construction, with a lovely topline and tailset. Initially a little unsettled on the table, but with calm and gentle reassurance he began to relax and show glimpses of his true character. I feel that a little more gentle handling and positive reassurance would help him to build confidence and allow his lovely qualities and temperament to shine through to their full potential. A promising young dog whom I would be very happy to see develop with maturity and experience. AVNSC Toy Puppy Afterglow flash the trash A very promising young Affenpinscher with a lovely cheeky and outgoing personality. Still quite raw and tall at this stage, and would benefit from developing more body and substance as he matures. Good, strong head with a good mouth and pleasing breed expression. Good side gait, moving confidently and with plenty of attitude. A lovely character who showed himself well today, and with maturity and time to develop, I can see him becoming a very nice Affenpinscher. Post graduate Pekehuis sweet dreams of Bratilda A very attractive Pekingese dog with a lovely strong head and the cheekiest of expressions, giving him excellent breed character. I would like to see a little more weight and substance on him to complete the picture, but he has good overall type and balance. Pleasant, light movement for the breed, covering the ground well and showing good freedom of movement. His movement was particularly pleasing today, as he was able to cover the ground efficiently without appearing laboured or restricted. Good coat, with plenty of length and substance without being excessively over coated, allowing his outline and movement to be appreciated. A very sassy and characterful Pekingese who showed himself well and was a pleasure to judge. BOB Queenslake enchanted ring TAF A sound little Yorkshire Terrier bitch with the prettiest of expressions and plenty of charm. At just 12 months of age, she is still very much a puppy and has plenty of time to mature and develop. Lovely feminine breed type with a sweet, intelligent expression, good ear carriage and a pleasing overall outline. Good proportions and a lovely profile, with the elegant, stylish appearance so characteristic of the breed. Beautifully presented with a lovely, glossy coat, although still very much showing her puppy coat at this stage. She flew around the ring with great enthusiasm, yet managed to retain her style and elegance, covering the ground well and showing plenty of character. She was slightly high in front when moving, which I felt was largely due to her excitement and exuberance today. A delightful young bitch with good quality, lovely breed character and plenty of promise. She ultimately lost out on maturity, but I have no doubt that with age, experience and the development of her adult coat, she will continue to improve and mature into a very attractive Yorkshire Terrier. OPEN Ashiblack Benjamin button at Zondora An impeccably presented Affenpinscher and a true showman who clearly knows his job. Excellent breed type with a strong, masculine head and the characteristic alert, cheeky expression. Excellent coat texture, beautifully presented and with the correct harsh, wiry quality. Good depth of body, pleasing topline and a good tailset, giving a lovely compact and balanced outline. Strong front and good overall construction. Moved with plenty of attitude and character, showing the confident, lively temperament so typical of the breed. Slightly tight behind today, but this did not detract from an otherwise excellent overall picture. A quality dog with tremendous ring presence and a real pleasure to judge. Hollinsclose the promise for Bratilda very attractive Löwchen bitch with a lovely overall picture and plenty of breed quality. Well constructed and nicely balanced, with good depth of chest and a lovely level topline. Good tailset and correct tail carriage, adding to her pleasing outline. Good fore and rear construction, with parallel front and rear when standing. Lovely head with good proportions and a pleasing expression, with good dentition and the width of muzzle required for a strong foreface. Nice feet and good overall bone, completing a sound and well-proportioned picture. Unfortunately, she was rather sloppy on the move today, and this was difficult to overlook when comparing her with 1. There is plenty to like here, with good construction, breed type and balance, but today the movement was the deciding factor. TOY GROUP. GROUP 1 CH Jaegerson kingsman JW A striking Miniature Pinscher dog who demanded my attention from the moment he entered the ring. Immaculately presented and handled to perfection, he immediately gave the impression of a true showman who knows exactly how to do his job. Excellent breed type and a lovely, compact, well balanced outline, with the correct square proportions and a pleasing topline. Strong, masculine head with the intelligent, alert expression so characteristic of the breed, good ear carriage and lovely dark eye. Good depth of chest, strong, well constructed limbs and excellent overall balance. His movement was a particular highlight. He displayed the characteristic Hackney like action, with the correct high stepping, lively carriage, neither excessively high nor too low, while maintaining good balance and purpose. Excellent attitude and ring presence throughout, showing the lively, confident and watchful temperament called for in the breed. Beautifully presented, expertly handled and a complete Miniature Pinscher package. I can certainly see why he is a Champion. A very worthy Toy Group winner and an absolute pleasure to judge. GROUP 2 Baldragon French fancy A striking King Charles Spaniel bitch who immediately caught my eye. Beautifully presented, lovely breed type and a very pleasing overall picture. Lovely head and expression, with beautiful dark, expressive eyes and the characteristic sweet and appealing King Charles Spaniel expression. Good ear carriage and a lovely overall outline, with good balance and proportion. What particularly delighted me was her temperament. She was constantly happy, wagging her tail and showing the cheerful, affectionate character so desirable in the breed. She carried herself with confidence and gave a lovely impression throughout. A beautifully presented, happy and charming bitch with plenty of quality. A very worthy Toy Group 2 and an absolute pleasure to judge. GROUP 3 Adreeam classic rough A handsome and striking Griffon Bruxellois dog with excellent breed character and plenty of presence. Beautiful head with a strong, correct underjaw, good mouth and lovely pert expression. Excellent clear, wide open nostrils and good ear carriage, carried correctly over the head. Lovely compact, cobby outline with good balance and pleasing proportions. Good topline, depth of chest and overall body construction, with a good tailset completing the picture. Nice small, compact feet and good overall bone. Excellent coat texture, retaining the harsh, wiry quality so important in the breed. He is going through a little coat change at present, but the underlying quality and texture are very good and I expect this to develop beautifully. Moved well and with confidence, showing good drive from behind and maintaining a pleasing overall balance. A very attractive, characterful male with lots of quality. Delighted to award him Toy Group 3. GROUP 4 Llapsttam get knotted JW A very attractive Black & Tan Cavalier King Charles Spaniel dog with an abundance of coat and lovely feathering, giving him an elegant and well-presented appearance. Beautiful dark, expressive eyes and a sweet, gentle expression, with good ear feathering framing the head nicely. Rich raven black with lovely bright tan markings, making a striking colour combination. A charming male who showed himself well and presented a pleasing overall picture. His beautiful coat and colouring, together with his lovely expression and breed character, made him a worthy Toy Group 4. TOY PUPPY GROUP GROUP 1 Silverchi lavender sparkle GROUP 2 Moyadacha good gosh GROUP 3 Llapsttam Rodney. A very attractive Cavalier King Charles Spaniel puppy with many of the same lovely attributes I admired in my Group 4 dog. Beautiful breed type, with a sweet, gentle expression, lovely dark eyes and excellent ear feathering. Plenty of coat developing and a very pleasing overall picture for one so young. A nicely balanced puppy with good breed character and plenty of promise. He is currently towards the larger end of the size I would prefer, and I certainly hope he doesn't get any bigger as he matures. Nevertheless, he has many qualities to admire and showed himself very well for his age. Delighted to award him Puppy Group 3. This magnificent Cavalier King Charles Spaniel completely stole my heart from the moment I saw him. He stood alone in the Veteran class, but that in no way diminished his achievement; he went on to win Best Veteran in Show on his outstanding quality and overall presence. A truly beautiful, sound and exceptionally well-balanced dog, displaying the elegance, grace and breed type that the Cavalier should possess. Wonderful head and expression, with those large, dark, expressive eyes and the sweetest of gentle expressions. Beautiful ears, excellent feathering and an abundance of quality coat, all beautifully presented. Excellent overall construction and balance, with a lovely topline, good body and pleasing proportions. Sound, purposeful movement, carrying himself with confidence and maintaining his balance beautifully. Most importantly, he has that wonderful Cavalier temperament, happy, kind, engaging and full of character. For a veteran, he was simply exceptional. He showed himself with such confidence and presence that it was impossible not to admire him. A truly outstanding representative of the breed and quite honestly, my find of the day. I adored him and was absolutely delighted to see him be awarded Best Veteran in Show. Derek Parkinson. (Delbrupar)
