South Western Toy dog Club

Breed: Affenpinscher, Griffon Bruxellois

South Western Toy Dog Club – 15th March 2026

Many thanks to the Committee for inviting me to judge at this friendly, welcoming and well run show. Thanks also to the exhibitors for allowing me to assess your lovely dogs. Last, but by no means least, thanks to my very efficient steward, Victoria.

Affenpinscher

PG (1) 1 Mitchard’s Carycares Dropped a Clanger. Eight-month-old male who was very much on form today. A happy little showman with the typical Affenpinscher “look at me” attitude. Slightly domed skull with correct stop, his dark sparkling eyes and nose formed the desired equilateral triangle. Correct ear set and carriage completing the classic monkey-like expression. Coat rough and shaggy of the correct harsh texture. Compact, cobby outline with a level topline, which he held on the move. Sound, purposeful movement with true footfall and plenty of drive. Pleased to award him BOB and BP.

O (2,1) 1 Mitchard’s Wizabeanie One Banana. Almost four-year-old male of good type with much to admire. Presents a cobby, sturdy outline with a firm, level topline. Coat rough and harsh with correct texture. Typical monkey expression with good skull proportions and correct stop. Straight forelegs leading into neat feet. Unfortunately today he was moving on three tracks, which cost him top honours in comparison to his younger kennel mate. RBOB.

Griffon Bruxellois

PG (5,1) 1 Suggitt’s Aptrick Gateau Noir. This 20-month-old female presenting a balanced, cobby outline. Possesses a delightful temperament – constantly wagging her tail and eager to please. Typical head with dark, round eyes, correct turn up and strong underjaw. She secured this class on her movement - purposeful, driving and accurate with true footfall. RBOB. 2 Hershaw’s Beauborne What’s On at Tremaloy. Black and tan female, the baby of the class at just eight months, yet she held her own well. Feminine head with typical expression and good dark, round eyes. Shows a compact, cobby outline with a level topline. Well angulated with straight forelegs into neat feet. Moved very well for her age. Pleased to award her BP. 3 Davis’s Zilcan Figgy Figaro TAF.

L (2) 1 Meaden’s Delightbull Tad The Man for Topmead. Handsome 22 month old red male. Correct head and expression with lovely round eyes. Cobby outline with good tail set and carriage. Straight forelegs into neat feet. Moved well. 2 Hershaw’s Beauborne Vanda via Tremaloy. Pretty 21 month old black and tan female. Presents a pleasing outline with level topline. Handler advised she had a fright at a recent show, and sadly this showed today. Unhappy on the table and unable to be fully assessed for movement. Worth persevering with, as she has many excellent qualities.

O (3) 1 Meaden’s Ch Beauborne Nadal at Topmead. Four year old male of excellent type. Strong, cobby outline with a level topline and well set tail. Correct head to body proportions, the head appearing suitably large. Good ear set and carriage with typical alert expression. A close decision between first and second; he won on his more settled movement and accurate footfall. Pleased to award him BOB. 2 Suggitt’s Aptrick Dolly Mixtures JW. Three year old red female. Correct cobby outline with level topline and well set tail. Lovely head and expression with dark, round eyes. Straight bone with balanced angulation. Previously judged her as a puppy and awarded her BOB; however, today her high spirits caused unsettled movement, costing her top spot. 3 Green’s Beauborne Stefani Topmead.
