Upperward Of Lanarkshire Canine Society

Breed: Dalmatian

Upperward of Lanarkshire – Dalmatian – 01/02/2026

I’d like to start by thanking the Committee for inviting me to judge the Dalmatians at this show. A breed close to my heart; spending my childhood and teenage years growing up in the Dalmatian world. I also would like to thank the Dalmatian Club of Scotland for recommending me for the appointment.

My stewards were fantastic, kept the ring moving at a swift pace and ensured everything was done expertly!

Finally, thankyou to the exhibitors for bringing so many quality Dalmatians out for me to assess – all my decisions were met with warmth and great sportsmanship throughout, making for a really pleasant experience.

Junior (2, 0)

1st – Grant’s SALVADORADA LADY OF THE GLEN FOR BEVAHALLI – 9-month-old, black spotted bitch, of sound development for age. Feminine head with a powerful muzzle and moderate stop. Correct scissor bite. Solid black pigmentation on nose and eye rims. Lovely feminine outline of body. Well laid back shoulders and level back. Preferred the chest development on this bitch over 2 and boasted a slightly more developed overall appeal. Muscling developing really well especially in the second thigh. Good turn of stifle. Once settled movement was powerful and fluid.

2nd – Wilkins’ SALVADORADA LOOK AT ME – 9-month-old, liver spotted bitch. Litter sister to 1 but of a slightly smaller build, so many of the same comments apply. Head a touch more balanced than 1 at this stage but she is currently a little less developed in the body than 1. I preferred her movement today as she took the ring easily with a smooth and powerful long stride – she really did look fab on the move; but just needs a bit more time to catch up to her sister in maturity.

Post Graduate (5, 1)

1st – Grant & Wilkins’ SALVADORADA LETS GET LOUD – 9-month-old, black spotted dog; litter brother to my Junior’s but already offering so much for his age. Masculine head already well developed, and everything sits just right to create his balanced, powerful and pleasing head. Correct scissor bite, clean lips and good black pigmentation on nose and eye rims. In body, he offers so much already; fairly long and nicely arched neck, leading to well defined withers and level back. Solid deep chest development, with well sprung ribs. Muscular throughout, especially in the rear. Balanced silhouette on the move and excelled on the away and back. Has such a strong ring presence for one so young – once his paws enter the ring, he demands your attention and rightly so. Pleasure to award him Best of Breed today and was great to watch him take Group 3 in a large Utility Group.

2nd – Wilkins’ PUNTINATO BALLANTE YOUR YUMMIEST YUM-YUM FOR SALVADORADA – 11-month-old black spotted dog. A delightful young dog with much to like about him, unlucky to have met my winner here. A balanced head, with such a lovely alert expression. Was a pleasure to go over due to his loving temperament. Well defined withers, really good chest and strong loin. Level back that remained solid on the move. Correct tail – which I don’t think stopped wagging the entire time he was in the ring. Another really good mover and was definitely enjoying his day today.

Open (5, 0)

1st – Valentine’s DVOJICA FIZZY POP – 2-year-old, black spotted bitch. A real showgirl. Didn’t take her eyes off her handler and didn’t put a paw wrong; lovely partnership to watch. Very feminine throughout and has spotting that is very easy on the eye. Balanced head, moderate stop and correct scissor bite. Well-muscled throughout fore- and hind- quarters. Nicely arched neck, well laid back shoulders and solid level back. Strong throughout her elegant frame. Free effortless movement with a long stride; good drive with purpose. Challenged my Best of Breed hard today but was just a touch too close in the rear on the away and back; but she made this a tough decision as she is a quality young bitch.

2nd – Ersiliano’s MONDO DALLMATA HARLEY QUINN (IMP ITA) – 3-year-old, liver spotted bitch. A very pleasing bitch, who went well today. Not as strong in head as 1, but still balanced and correct. Correctly pigmented liver nose and eye rims, with medium amber eyes. Lovely spotting throughout. Strongly built but still held her femininity. Deep chest, with well sprung ribs. Good angulation across her fore- and hind- quarters. Defined muscling in the second thigh, good turn of stifle and well defined hocks. Another really strong mover today.
