An honour to judge this show at the invitation of East Anglian Cocker Spaniel Society Thank you to all exhibitors for a lovely entry. Also, my stewards David Harris and James Hutton-Baber, who did a sterling job, keeping me informed and on time, very efficient.

BABY PUPPY DOG OR BITCH (3 1)

1. Clifford’s, R. Chamford Eclipse

4-month-old blue roan male puppy, who is so nicely put together. Lovely head, wide muzzle, masculine, correct shaped dark eye, well clothed ears. Lovely sturdy, short and square puppy in profile. Good bone and angulation. Happy on the move with his tail wagging, as he strode out. BBPIS

MINOR PUPPY BITCH (3 2)

1. Hutson’s Mrs S J. Popebel Like Clockwork for Stobytill

8-month-old female. Blue roan, this puppy has a lovely outline, nice head and skull, chiselled. Dark eyes and the correct shape. Ears set on level with eyes, well clothed. She is square stood, has good proportions, and nice rear angulation. A happy girl she moved out well with good reach and drive. Correct tail set which was clearly happy wagging on the move. A promising puppy. BMPIS

2. Barnes, Mrs D. Hollytree English Rose.

7-month-old orange roan female. A sweet puppy with nice head, and good muzzle, eyelids loose. Ears set on level with eyes, well clothed. She has nice angles good bone and muscles. Went well around the ring when settled.

PUPPY DOG (2 1)

1. Norie-Miller, Mr & Mrs C. Ryallcourt Rocket Man for Tanrini.

10-month-old black and white male, who I have admired ringside. He has the most appealing masculine head, but not harsh, square muzzle, and a distinct stop. Skull finely chiselled. His dark eyes, are gentle and the correct shape, showing an expression of intelligence. Ears lobular set on level with his eyes. Correct scissor bite. Neck moderate set into fine sloping shoulders throat clean. Well off for bone, his legs are straight. Good chest and brisket deep, he has a strong body with a firm level topline, that he held on the move. He strode out with good reach and drive from short well-muscled hindquarters. Tail set correct, was bustling with happiness on the move. This male whilst still a puppy, is a lovely example of a cocker and he was presented to perfection. BPIS

2. Bradfield’s, Mrs L & Mr F. Ryallcourt What If.

10-month-old blue roan female presented in lovely coat. She has a sweet feminine head, dark eye correct shape showing intelligence. Nice developed skull, well chiselled. Ears set correct, well clothed. Neck moderate in length set into fine sloping shoulders, chest deep. Slightly longer and not as compact in body than 1, nice rear angulation, straight hocks. Nice tight cat-like feet. She moved out well for her owner, showing reach and good drive.

JUNIOR DOG OR BITCH (4)

1. Bradfield’s Mrs L & Mr F. Ryallcourt Hattie Tude.

17-month-old Black female who has a nice outline. Lovely head and expression of intelligence, dark eyes. Square muzzle nose sufficiently wide for scenting. Good bone, and forechest and brisket deep. Loin wide. She has good bend of stifle, and rear angulation. When settled and focused with a toy, she moved well in stages making her handler work for her place today.

2. Perry’s Miss N, Miss S & Miss K. Popebel Cassiopeia

18-month-old blue roan female. Kind expression, dark eyes. Muscular neck set in a good lay of shoulders. Well off for bone, her deep forechest, and well sprung ribs into wide loin. She is a longer type in body. Moved well around the ring, holding a firm level topline and correct tail carriage.

MAIDEN DOG OR BITCH (7 5)

1. Burnet’s Mr A & Mrs C. Charmwen Hot Stuff

13-month-old blue roan female, my notes say super true to type. She is short, square and balanced a neat profile, compact which on handling is honest. The most adorable head, skull and a gentle expression with dark eye, tight rims, and the correct shape. Square Muzzle with distinct stop. This female expression is oozing intelligence, and her eye is so gentle she captivates you. Well set ears. Neck muscular, set into good lay of shoulder. Straight front, she has depth, ample forechest, and a good spring of rib. Level topline gently sloping, to tail from the end of loin. Wide well-rounded hindquarters, muscular and good bend of stifle with nice straight hocks which powered her around the ring. Her reach and drive and overall movement was just textbook. I have no doubt this little rocket cocker, would easily manage a full day of work. Presented in good coat and condition. RBIS

2. Kidd’s Mrs G. Freestone My Serendipity

2-year-old blue roan female. Square muzzle, slightly narrower than 1, she has a lovely dark eye, correct shape and tight rims. Muscular neck into good lay of shoulder throat clean. Strong body, chest well developed and brisket deep. Hindquarters muscular, with good angulation short hocks. Good reach and a lovely cocker bustle on the move.

NOVICE DOG OR BITCH (2)

1. Kidd’s Mrs G. Laurellakes Dream Come True with Freestone.

5-year-old black female. Balanced cocker dark eye, correct shape. Smaller muzzle. Neck muscular set into well set shoulders she has a good forechest straight legs, nice tight feet. Rib well sprung and deep in brisket. Moved well showing good reach and drive.

2. Hill’s, Mrs H. Clavaire Orange Rose with Princehill

13-month-old female. Orange roan. Square muzzle developed skull, nice head and pleasing eye, in tight rims. Good length of neck and decent shoulders. Width to front is good, but the upper arm could be better. Deep brisket muscular loin. Firm topline went well.

GRADUATE DOG OR BITCH (3 1)

1. Wildman’s Mr A & Mrs C S. Wilanorah Perfik Scoundrel at Chanmalo.

2-year-old blue roan male of good type. This male has a lovely typical cocker head, masculine but not overdone. Dark eye with tight rims and a gentle expression of intelligence. He is short, strong and square a lovely compact male. Moderate neck in good lay of shoulder. Well boned legs, stood straight on tight feet. Muscular shoulders, chest well developed and deep brisket. Rib well sprung and short loin. Hindquarters well rounded muscular and the correct rear angulation. Good tail set and carriage. Lots of substance on him throughout. His movement is textbook, covering the ground with purpose, showing good reach and drive, maintaining a level topline. This boy was seriously considered for my reserve best in show, he is full of type.

POST GRADUATE DOG OR BITCH (2 1)

1. Gray’s Mrs E & Mr M. Purdyspride Rave On.

3 -year-old Blue roan male. I have judged this cocker when he was younger, and he has a nice outline. Good Head with soft expression and gentle dark eyes. Square muzzle, nose sufficiently wide. Skull well developed and cleanly chiselled. His body is square compact, ribs well sprung. Hindquarters well rounded and muscular with good bend of stifle allowing for plenty of drive from his hocks. He moved off well with a happy bustling tail.

2-year-old female blue roan. Merry sturdy, well balanced female with square muzzle, skull well developed. Dark eyes with a gentle, kind expression. Ears lobular on level with her eyes and correct scissor bite. Neck moderate into good lay of shoulders nice forequarters legs well boned sufficiently short to concentrate power. Nice cat-like feet. Ribs well sprung. Short loin. Tail set correct and merry as she moved with good drive with her handler. A happy merry cocker enjoying her day out.

2. Collings, Mrs A J & Mr K R. Aylesmead Blu Rose At Colmandakev.

2-year-old blue roan female. Smaller in profile than 1, lovely dark eye, correct shape and tight rims. Smaller muzzle, developed skull, ears set low on a level with her eyes. Neck moderate, set neatly into fine sloping shoulders. she has a good forechest, straight legs, nice tight feet. Rib well sprung and deep in brisket. Level topline gently sloping downwards to tail from end of lion to set of tail. Merry in action as she moved a sweet little cocker.

CLIPPED OFF DOG OR BITCH (2 1)

1. Kettle’s Misses A & S. SC CH Lujesa Impossible Dream

9-year-old Black male. Oh, my this was a delight. Show Champion full of type, this boy still took command of the ring. I remember him in his day, watching this boy ringside and he has never changed, apart from being clipped off. Super head, dark eyes with tight rims, correct shape giving a melting expression but still masculine. Cleanly chiselled. Muscular neck with good layback of shoulder. Straight front well boned. Excellent return of upper arm. Good feet. Chest well developed deep brisket. Good spring of rib and a short loin. Great muscular hindquarters correct rear angulation. Good tail set and carriage. Lots of substance on him throughout. His movement is textbook, covering the ground with purpose, showing good reach and drive, maintaining a level topline and his showmanship, well it is still as polished as it was back in the day. A lovely experience for me to handle him and see him back in a show ring and enjoying himself. Thank you, ladies.

6-year-old female blue roan. Dark eyes with melting expression pleasing head. Moderate length of neck muscular set into good lay of shoulders. Well boned. Straight front she has depth and an excellent spring of rib. Good balance square and neat angulation. Moved off with good drive and reach. level topline. Displaying typical carriage with a merry disposition.

7-year-old, blue roan male. presented in good condition. Lovely masculine head with a kind expression. Dark eyes and tight rims. Ears set correct. Good reach of neck, muscular and sitting on good lay of shoulders. Width to front is good, chest well developed. Deep brisket muscular loin. Nice rear angulation and a very happy merry boy on the move. Good tail set and lots of cocker merry bustle. A joy to see.

1. Kettle, Misses’ A & S. Lujesa Laurellakes Angel Whisper. 4-year-old black female presented immaculately in beautiful coat and condition. Lots to like about this girl who is compact, square and sturdy. She has the most appealing feminine head, correct shaped dark eyes, tight rims and a kind expression of intelligence which gazes straight into your soul. Skull well developed chiselled. Ears set correct on level with her eyes, well clothed. Lovely reach of neck, muscular set into well laid shoulders. Forequarters straight, she is well off for bone, thick covered, tight cat like feet. Ample spring of rib and depth of brisket. Loin short and broad. Hindquarters rounded and muscular. Strong straight hocks which she used to show good drive and balance, with a super return of upper arm. Topline level, firm and tail carriage correctly set, giving a smooth outline on the move. A lovely merry girl, strong, powerful with true through action in her gait, as she covered the ground. Lovely to see her move. BIS

VETERAN DOG OR BITCH (4 3)

1. Driver, Mr G P & Mrs D. Annilann Miss Magic Star At Beckaby

7-year-old blue roan female of good type. Pleasing head and expression gentle eye’s bright and merry. Good muzzle and chiselled skull. Well placed shoulders. Good front, well boned and chest deep. Ribs well sprung short loin. Hindquarters well rounded good angulation she moved well with good reach and drive lovely to see her happy tail.

2. Kidd’s Mrs G. Freestone Chances Are

7-year-old blue roan female with a fine skull and nice expression, dark, kind gently eye. Good length of neck, set into sloping shoulders. Good chest and spring of rib a bit longer in loin than 1. Nice hindquarters and she moved out with drive and covered the ground well with her happy wagging tail.
