Hungarian Vizsla Club Open Show – 2nd August 2026

Three Counties Showground

Special Award Classes

I would like to thank the Hungarian Vizsla Club for the invitation to judge the Special Award Classes at their Open Show. My thanks also to the exhibitors for their entries and for presenting their dogs so well in the very hot conditions, and to my many stewards for all their help throughout the day. Their efforts, and those of the dogs, were much appreciated and I very much enjoyed the appointment.

Class A – Junior (10, 3)

1 Carter’s Lindenwood Cast A Spell At Madarkutya. Well-balanced, masculine young dog of pleasing breed type, good overall proportions and substance whilst retaining the noble appearance of the Vizsla. Attractive, refined head, kind expression, oval eye of correct colour, a shade darker than coat, good dentition and correctly set ears of good length. Strong, muscular neck leading to level topline, both stacked and on the move. Well-developed forechest, good depth of chest and well-sprung ribs. Moved soundly and effortlessly, presenting a complete, mature picture on the day.

2 Irving’s Oroshaza Reka. Well-balanced young dog of lovely type, with well-proportioned head and pleasing expression. Elegant through neck and outline, with moderate, well-matched front and rear angulation giving a clean, athletic appearance. Still developing through body and forechest, as expected at his age, but presented a very balanced picture. Moved very well. Much to like and plenty of promise for the future.

Class B – Post Graduate (3)

1 Connolly’s Roughshoot Tiffin. Feminine bitch of pleasing type with an attractive head, kind expression and correct oval eye of good colour. Balanced in outline with good overall proportions, well-developed sternum, good depth of chest and tight, well-shaped feet. Moved very well with good reach and drive, maintaining balance and outline on the move and taking the class on movement.

2 Priestley’s Eltryme February Stars. Younger feminine bitch, well developed for age, with elegant, athletic outline and pleasing overall balance. Good sternum with moderate, well-matched angulation front and rear. Still developing in depth of chest, as might be expected at her age. Moved freely and soundly, although the winner had the advantage on the move.

Class C – Open (7, 1)

1 Da Silva & Sexton’s Sh Ch Amarantos Katana For Ertekes JW. Masculine dog of pleasing breed type and good size, with a clean outline. Distinguished head with correct oval eye of good colour and a kind expression. Well-developed sternum, good depth of chest and a strong, well-muscled body. Maintained a level topline standing and on the move. Particularly liked his free, balanced movement.

2 Davis’ Perllanside Royal Fanfare. Feminine, well-proportioned bitch with refined head and pleasing expression. Good length of neck, well-developed sternum and balanced outline, maintaining a level topline. Tight, well-shaped feet and moved well, presenting a clean, elegant and feminine picture.
