Northwich & District Canine Society

I’d like to say thankyou to Northwich and District Canine Society for inviting me to judge Lancashire Heelers at their Open Show, to the stewards who kept everything running efficiently and also to the exhibitors that entered, it was a genuine pleasure to assess your beautiful and happy dogs.

Puppy ( 1,0)

1st Brown’s Spawood Perfec’ Surprise - A smart six month old, well marked black and tan bitch. Good flat skull and level planes, alert erect ears, and beautiful dark almond shaped eyes. Scissor bite with excellent dentition. Well sprung ribbing extending well back. Ample bone. Tight, well padded small feet with pencil marked toes and thumbprints on the forepaws. Tail set on high, curving slightly over the back. Smart and brisk away and back, with a level topline that held on the move and strong drive from the rear. Very feminine throughout and sure of herself. Very worthy of her BPIB award.

Junior (3,0)

1st Hughes’ Ribblespride Kruger JW - Seventeen month old black and tan dog. Dark almond eye with a keen, alert expression. Head on level planes, scissor bite with good dentition. Shows real substance under a hard coat with excellent markings. Good amount of bone in the leg with small, powerful, tight feet. Moved with purpose away and back, level topline held throughout. Well schooled and a credit to his handler.

2nd Kenyon’s Droversrock Obsidian - One year old liver bitch with deep tan markings. Dark almond eye, erect ears used well. Pleasing outline with tail carried in a slight curve over the back. Ample bone, well sprung ribs extending well back. Moved smartly and briskly away and back.

3rd Bradford’s Droversrock Rhyolite - One year old black and tan bitch, very similar in build to second, just not quite as composed in the ring and a touch longer in body than I would prefer.

Post Graduate

1st Kenyon’s Ribblespride Boudicca - I really liked this fourteen month old bitch. Rich black and tan markings and a sweet, feminine expression. Head on level planes, wide flat skull, alert erect ears, dark almond eye, scissor bite, and teeth in excellent condition. Good length of neck into a well laid and muscular shoulder. Well sprung ribbing extending well back. Level topline in profile with good angulation, ample bone, and small tight feet. Moved well out and back once she settled, holding her topline. A strong partnership with her handler is beginning to blossom. Pleased to also award RBOB.

2nd Bradford’s Droversrock Pyrite - Two year old black and tan bitch, full of excitement and energy. Pleasing ear carriage, wonderfully dark almond shaped eyes, level planes, scissor bite, tight lips, good dentition. Well laid shoulder into well sprung ribs. Quite fine in bone. Moved well once settled. A little long in body for my preference.

Open

1st Wiseman’s Foxthyme Tilly - A compact four year old black and rich tan bitch in fantastic condition with a thick, hard topcoat. Beautiful dark almond shaped eyes, wide flat skull between alert erect ears that she uses well. Head on level planes, scissor bite and excellent teeth. Moderate length of neck into a well laid and muscular shoulder. Good spring of rib extending well back. Ample bone with small, well padded tight feet. Beautiful outline with a sickle curved tail and good rear angulation. Moved away and back with strong rear drive and an impressive smart, brisk pace. Level topline in profile that held well on the move. Very confident in the ring and on the table. A joy to award BOB.

2nd Davis’s Ch Taigwynion Freya Sadie in Ronleydon - Five year old rich liver and tan bitch with a good hard topcoat. Lovely outline with tail set on high. Wide flat skull, dark almond shaped eyes, scissor bite and good dentition. Moderate length of neck and a well muscled shoulder. Good spring of rib, plenty of bone. Moved well away and back with strong rear drive, maintaining her topline. Pushed strongly for first place.

3rd Hughes’ Poolheywood Barney JW - Three year old black and tan dog with a good hard topcoat. Alert erect ears, wide flat skull, strong scissor bite with good teeth. Moderate neck into a well laid and muscled shoulder. Good spring of rib extending well back. Ample bone. Presents a pleasing profile with tail set on high and carried above the back. Moved very smartly and briskly, in tune with his handler. Well proportioned but slightly larger than I would prefer.

Thank you again to these wonderful exhibitors.
