Class 139 Puppy Dog or Bitch – entry 2, absent 1

1st & Terrier Puppy Group 1 Samson & Samson & Crawley’s RAGUS MONDAY MORNING (Norwich Terrier)

At just under 1 year old the quality and breed type stood out, her bright eye, super coat and very very good dentition, with larger than expected teeth, were just some of the features I found on the table. Beneath her coat this little game terrier was compact with strong hind quarters that drove her well around the ring where she kept her level topline, liked her a lot. Took a little time to settle on the move and although she was the only puppy, she was well deserving winner of my Terrier Puppy Group.

Class 140 Special Yearling Dog or Bitch – entry 4, absent 0

Probably my most testing class of the day, with 4 good exhibits of different breeds but all were of a good type, but overall I want a free moving terrier that can cover ground striding confidently in front and driving from behind to show off their construction and confirmation.

1st & RBoB Doble’s HUCKLEBERRY QUINN (Scottish Terrier)

This young male had many good breed qualities and was well turned out in good overall condition. Long, well proportioned head, large teeth well set in a square jaw, good sized ear placed on top of his head. Liked his shoulder placement and length of body with deep chest, strong loin and hind quarters that drove him into top place. Only slight negative I found was front feet could have been padded more with tighter knit toes.

2nd Hunter’s MULIEBRITY MYSTIC TOPAZ (Airedale Terrier)

Another young male in great harsh coat and condition, great head and expression that exactly match the standard in my opinion, perhaps on the ground today he struggled with slightly loose front movement, if not for this he could well have swapped places with class winner and gone on.

3rd Finch & Bonner’s BELLEVILLE HIGH SOCIETY FOR DALTICINO (Norfolk Terrier)

Moved well both ways

Res. Samson’s RAGUS PEARL MAIDEN TO SILAK (Norwich Terrier)

Lacking coat today but on another day she would probably placed higher.

Class 141 Post Graduate Dog or Bitch – entry 2, absent 0

1st & RBoB Doble’s HUCKLEBERRY QUINN (Scottish Terrier)

See previous class

2nd Long’s DUNKESWELL PEPPER DASH (Bedlington Terrier)

Another with good breed qualities, liked her head and ears were spot on to give a typical look. Her natural arch and hindquarters met the breed standard description, for me a bit more rear drive would have been appreciated but I accept the breed standard description for gait is ‘rather mincing’ so could be correct.

Class 142 Open Dog or Bitch – entry 2, absent 1

1st, BoB & Terrier Group 1 Jones & Bradley’s JOALYN PARSLEY MOON (Kerry Blue Terrier)

This three-year-old bitch was on top form today, the breed characteristics of a compact powerful terrier were on display and today she just owned the ring. Loved her enthusiasm, which combined with her hind strength and angulation gave her a confident and purposeful drive. Her flat shoulder and bone were equally pleasing allowing her to move straight and freely with precision. Lovely soft silky blue coat, profuse and pleasing on her head. Good scissor bite, dark eye and nose leather, good reach of neck to deep well sprung rib and level topline with well placed tail of moderate length. A class act that caught my eye and confidently demanded top place in the group.
