Newark & District Canine Society Open Show 21st February 2026

Thank you to the Committee for my invitation to Judge Beagles and Dachshunds at their open show and to the exhibitors who brought their dogs under me.

Thanks also to my lovely Stewards Alan & Helen Wards who kept me right and organised everything so well.

I was delighted to receive such a large entry.

Beagle

Puppy (5.1)

1st Mr J & Mrs D Coates. Gladstyle Bluebell. Lovely 11 month old bitch Who moved well round the ring. Nice shape and balance, good head and stop. Would prefer a bit more depth of flews, good bone and nice tight feet. Good spring of rib. Well-muscled thighs and turn of stifle, showed good reach in front as well as rear drive and held top line well on the move.

2nd Mrs N Peterson, Troopersway Zeus. 8 month old dog who is quite mature for his age. Larger type than winner. Nice head and depth of flews. Good bone and tight feet. Good depth of chest. Well-muscled and moved out well. Preferred the drive of 1st.

3rd Ms D & Mr H Bridgeman & Logue, Kingswin Celeste.

Junior (4.1)

1st Ms S Hardisty, Blunderhall Jackson JW. 15 month old dog who has a super outline and balance. Lovely masculine head. Good flews with well-defined stop and good ear set. Well laid-back shoulders with good bone and nice tight feet. Well sprung ribs and level top line. Well-muscled hindquarters with good turn of stifle. Moved out purposefully with good front extension and rear drive. BOB.

2nd Miss C Rushforth, Campionfield Scrumptious. 14month old bitch. More compact type than 1st. Would prefer more balanced head. Good bone and tight feet. Good spring of rib and level top line held well on the move. Good turn of stifle and rear drive. Preferred drive of 1st.

3rd Mrs N Peterson. Troopersway Helios

1st Mr J & Mrs D Coates, Gladstyle Stone Mason. Another super hound. 22 month old dog who narrowly missed out on BOB today. Super masculine head with well-defined stop and good ear set. Well laid-back shoulders and level top line held well on the move. Good bone and tight feet. Powerful hindquarters put to good use showing good drive. Lovely front extension. RBOB

2nd Ms D & Mr H Bridgeman & Logue. Kingswin Gifted. Lovely 10 month Bitch who was not overshadowed being in the Open Class. Lovely shape and outline. Feminine head, well defined stop. Well laid-back shoulders and level topline. Good bone and nice tight feet. Good front extension and rear drive. Won the puppy challenge with better drive and head shape. BPIB.

1st Mrs J & Mrs A Pike & Carter, Swansford Olympiadora at Breezelyn. 7 month old bitch. Lovely shaped head with roman nose.  Lovely shaped front with well laid back shoulders. Good topline which was held well on the move. Moved true out and back and had good extension and rear drive. Super coat and shown in excellent condition. BPIB

Junior (3.1) 

1st Mr K S & Mrs S M Paskins. Kindeace Londons Calling JW. 16 month old dog shown in super coat. Good shaped head and correct ear set. Carried head proudly on the move. Well laid-back shoulders and good topline when stacked on the table and on the move. Would prefer to see a bit more drive. RBOB

2nd Messrs Barnicott & Pascoe, Fahoogle Minack. 16 Month old bitch in good coat but didn’t have the show presence of 1st. Lovely head and ear set. Well laid-back shoulders with level top line on the move. Good rear angulation. Lacked the drive and head carriage of 1st.

Post Graduate (6.1)

1st Miss S W West, Delsaux Twenty Carat Golden for Kendalldax JW. Lovely 18 month old bitch who had the full package today. Lovely feminine head with correct skull proportions. Good ear set and neck. Well laid-back shoulders and good depth of chest with lovely prosternum. Good front and rear angulation. Top line held well on the move and lovely when stacked on floor and table. Moved with drive both front and rear and lovely extension. Super coat. BOB

2nd Miss S L Vincent, Swansford Padraciador at Gainscroft. 22 month old dog with masculine head of good proportions. Good overall shape and top line. Good front and rear angulation with well laid back shoulders. Another shown in good coat. Preferred movement of 1st.

3rd Miss A P Page, Giovanni Rude for Kokoadax (IMP LTU)

1st Mr K & Mrs S M Paskins, Kindeace Hit the Road Jack JW. 2 1/2 year old dog who is another quality example of the breed. Lovely masculine head, well proportioned, good neck into well laid back shoulders. Level topline when stacked on the table. Correct front and rear angulation and help topline well on the move. Good front and rear extension and drive but would have preferred to see him given the opportunity to move at more pace.  Kennel mate had a bit more drive in the challenge to pip him to RBOB.

2nd Miss K Lacey, Abydezi Shades of Glory. 19 month old dog who had good reach and drive around the ring. Well-proportioned head, good neck and well laid back shoulders. Level top line held well on the move. Another one in super coat. Just preferred the overall balance of 1st.

3rd Mr K S & Mrs S M Paskins, Kindeace Texas Ranger ShCEx.

1st Mrs J & Mrs A Pike & Carter, Hanishan’s Royal Express to Breezelyn NAF TAF. 7 month old bitch who has a lovely overall shape. Good head shape and correct bite with well laid back shoulders and level top line. Lovely coat with good front and rear angulation. Strode out well on the move with good rear drive. BPIB

Junior (2.0)

1st Miss D Carey, Debbiejay Hansel. 14 month old dog with pleasing head and good top line. Good front and rear angulation and well balanced throughout. Showed good drive on the move.

2nd Miss S L Vincent, Moatcrest Miss Daisy at Gainscroft. 13 month old bitch very similar to 1st. Good angulation front and rear, well balanced with pleasing head.  Just didn’t have the movement of 1st today.

Post Graduate (2.1)

1st Mrs C May, Scrumptious Red on the Dot JW. 19 month old dog who was easily my BOB. Lovely head and outline. Well laid-back shoulders with good front and rear angulation. Moved true coming and going and held his topline well on the move. Had real drive and took BOB on his movement today. BOB

Open (1.0)

1st Mrs W P Taverner. Brackenfire My Honey Bee at Tavertekal. 4 year old bitch who has many pleasing qualities. Lovley head and expression. Good top line held well on the move. Correct front and rear angulation. Moved well for her handler but didn’t quite have the movement of my BOB. RBOB

1st Mrs F Hutchings, Teckeltowns Kelby Springs Into Collidach. 9 month old Bitch who instantly caught my eye when she entered the ring. Superb head and shape. Correct front and rear angulation with well-muscled body and lovely prosternum. Good feet and bone and nice tight elbows. Well ribbed. So true coming and going and strode out exceptional well around the ring. Excellent rear drive. Delighted to award her BOB & BPIB.

Junior (3.2)

1st Mrs L Bosworth, Bronia Solange at Louromi JW. 16 month old bitch who has a lovely shape and outline. Good overall balance. Well laid-back shoulders with correct front and rear angulation. Held her topline on the move and had good front extension with rear drive. Pushed hard for RBOB but preferred movement of the Post Graduate winner.

1st Mrs D Holmes, Debiandaxies Derry Girl JW. 18 month old Bitch who has a super top line both stacked and on the move. Lovely head and outline. Well laid-back shoulders. Correct front and rear angulation. Well ribbed. Moved with drive around the ring. RBOB

2nd Mrs S Coote, Andeysson Cape Verde of Kelsomaid. 4 year old bitch who pushed hard for the class win. Good head and outline with well laid back shoulders and good angulation. Good muscle tone and moved well round the ring. Just preferred the top line of 1st.

3rd Miss D & Mr I J Carey & Walker, Debbiejay Jammy Lass.

1st Mrs Susan Begg, Riverbrue Wolfberry to Sumaric. 32 month old dog who has a lovely head and outline. Well laid-back shoulders and good front and rear angulation. Good muscle tone and moved with drive. Held the topline well on the move.

2nd Ms J & Mrs N & Mrs P Russell & Price & Russell, Teckeltown The Showman. 27 month old dog who has a lovely shaped head and outline. Good prosternum and correct front and rear angulation. Moved well around the ring but not the top line of 1st.

3rd Miss D M Bailey, Loggeta Establoomingsmall.

1st Mrs W Starkey, Fredanna Moonlight Cypres at Hamoura. 8 month old dog who had a lovely head shape and outline. Good neck into well laid back shoulders. Correct front and rear angulation. Moved well round the ring. Promising youngster. BPIB

2nd Mrs T & Miss R Kerry, Hampdach Belle Returns to Kireton. 9 month old bitch who has a pleasing head and outline. Lost her topline a little on the move and a bit upright in the shoulder. Preferred the overall balance of 1st.

Junior (2.1)

1st Mrs MB Blachowicz, Malpaspups En Paris. 17 month old bitch who was shown in excellent condition and has a super coat. Good balance with lovely head and neck and well laid back shoulders. Good front and rear angulation. Nice feet. Showed great rear drive and held her topline well on the move. Moved true away and back.BOB.

1st Miss S G Wood, Tramardachs What A Fluff Up. 29 month old bitch who was very unsettled on the table and on the move. Good head and bite with good laid back shoulders.

Open (2.0)

1st Mr G & Mrs J Cox, Bulldaxit Sooner or Later. 3 year old bitch who narrowly missed out on BOB today. Lovely head shape and neck flowing into well laid back shoulders. Good front extension and rear drive. RBOB

2nd Miss S G Wood, Hundpoint Meena Tils. 5 year old bitch who didn’t have the movement and topline of 1st. Good head and outline. Correct bite.

1st Miss L & Mr J Muggleton & Magri, Rozamie Respectable. 10 month old bitch who has a lovely head and outline. Good prosternum and lovely neck into well laid back shoulders. Good topline, held well on the move. Correct front and rear angulation. Nice harsh coat. BPIB.

2nd Mrs L M Lindfield, Zabannah Emily Crumpet. 6 month old bitch who gave her handler a tough time. Moved well once settled, Lovely outline with good head and neck into well laid back shoulders. Good front and rear angulation. 

3rd Miss C Clements, Springdac My My My Delilah.

1st Mrs L M Lindfield, Zabannah Firestar. 17 month old bitch. Lovely head and outline. Good prosternum, length of neck and front and rear angulation. Would prefer a more level topline. RBOB

2nd Mrs C A Foley, Bimini Alfie Moon at Clavennae. 2 year old dog who has a pleasing head and outline. Good front and rear angulation and nice harsh coat.

3rd Mrs C J Grant, Earthsea Dixieland Girl.

1st Mrs N F Price, Collidach Thomas Tank JW. 21 month old dog who has a good head and neck and super furnishings. Well laid-back shoulders with correct front and rear angulation. Moved true out and back and held his topline well on the move. BOB.

1st Mr G & Mrs J Cox, Bulldaxit’s Wildest Dream. 7 month old bitch who shows a lot of promise. Only narrowly lost out to her sister for Best Puppy in Breed on her final movement in the challenge. I am sure that these two will trade places regularly. Super head and outline. Loved the overall shape of this puppy. Good neck with well laid back shoulders. Correct front and rear angulation. Lovely harsh coat. Level topline and true movement out and back, Good drive around the ring.

2nd Mrs K Buxton, Cloudside Xena. Quality 6 month old bitch who pushed hard for the win today. Another puppy who could easily trade places with 1st. Lovely head and neck, well laid back shoulders and held her topline well on the move, Lovely harsh coat. Correct front and rear angulation. Moved true out and back. Had good drive around the ring and should have a promising future.

Junior (5.0)

1st Mrs J V Hunt, Drakkina’s Gift of Dragon’s. 1 year old bitch who really enjoys the ring. Lovely head shape and neck with well laid back shoulders. Good front and rear angulation. Nicely arched feet and good bone. Super harsh coat and pleasing outline. Moved true out and back and held her topline well on the move. Unlucky to have such a strong field today.

2nd Mr G & Mrs J Cox, Bulldaxit Like a Dream, Another quality 7 month old puppy. I really was spoiled for choice today in the puppies exhibited. So similar to her litter sister who won the puppy class. Super head and neck. Well laid-back shoulders and correct front and rear angulation. Good harsh coat and super outline. Moved true out and back and held her topline well on the move. Moved with good drive around the ring. Just preferred the overall balance of 1st. Was the better mover in the Puppy Challenge. BPIB

1st Miss C J Chambers, Hototo’s Village Gossip. 3yr old bitch who oozes quality. Lovely feminine head with good neck into well laid-back shoulders. Good depth of chest with lovely prosternum. Correct front and rear angulation leading to super movement around the ring. Great rear drive and front extension. Good feet and bone. Superb Coat. Lovely shape and moved well round the ring with a well held topline. Movement in the challenge took Best of Breed today. BOB

2nd Mrs K Buxton, Hazelglade Harriet. 2 year old bitch. Pleasing head with good neck and well laid-back shoulders. Good depth of chest and keel. Correct front and rear angulation. Good harsh coat and level top line. Not the rear drive of 1st.

3rd Mrs L J Coverley, Aventine The Poacher.

1st Mr A & Mrs T Arthurs, Elderkine’s Austen. 32 month old bitch who is another quality example of the breed. Lovely feminine head with flowing neck into well laid-back shoulders. Lovely front and rear angulation and good feet. Pronounced prosternum and super outline. Presented immaculately with super harsh coat. Super front extension and rear drive. Held her topline well on the move. Lovely balance to this girl. Was down to splitting hairs and felt that the Post Graduate winner just moved slightly better for Best of Breed. RBOB.

2nd Ms J Russell, Collidach Russell Leeves. 4 year old dog who was unlucky to come up against such a quality field today. Pleasing masculine head with good neck and well laid-back shoulders. Correct front and rear angulation and well-muscled throughout. Good front extension and rear drive and held his top-line well on the move. Preferred the overall balance and shape of 1st.
