Bakewell Agricultural & Horticultural Society

Critique from Christine Land for Bakewell Agricultural and Horticultural Show 12th July 2026. Firstly I would like to thank the committee for asking me to judge at their show, my first time at this show, I would also like to thank all the exhibitors for entering the dogs. 

Australian Shepherd 

P - 1/0. 1. Varley & Woodhouse’s Onyxwood Just Like Fire, 8 month old, Red Tri Bitch , stood alone, raw baby 1st show I believe,initially a bit bothered but settled well, nice head proportions, almond eye shape and appropriate colour for a red, good dentition, well placed shoulders, topline ok at this age, moved nicely, full tail which she controlled well. BP. 

J - 0/0 PG - 1/0. 1.Woodhouse’s Onyxwood Ironside, 3 yr old Black Tri Bitch, stood alone, nice head proportions, sweet expression, good eye shape, would have preferred darker eyes, shoulders ok,level topline, moved with purpose, full tail. RBOB. 

O - 3/0. 1.Gibbson’s Ch Wispafete Once Upon A Dream, 7 yr old Black Tri Bitch, lovely head, almond eyes with beautiful dark eyes, ears well placed and well used, moderate neck into well placed shoulders, level topline, feminine through and through. Presented in excellent condition.BOB 2. Knott’s Zuni Someone U Love Fallcat JW, 2 yr old Blue Merle Male, can see at first glance that he’s male, lovely head with good proportions, almond eyes with lovely eye colour, moderate neck into good shoulder placement, good bone. 3. Simson’s Amberslade Santa Ana Breeze at Javison VW. 

Bearded Collie

 O - 1/1 1.Bramley’s & Moore’s Coalacre Do The Hokey Cokey, 4 yr old Male, Slate & White, stood alone, good head with good pigmentation, lovely dark eye, shoulders ok, level back, ribs well sprung, good length of rib, tail well set and of correct length, feet well padded and well covered with hair. BOB. 

Border Collie.

 P - 4/0 1. Neil’s Dollindwaw Divine Delight, ,11 month old Black & W Bitch, very feminine throughout, lovely head with dark eye, good reach of neck into well laid shoulder, level topline, moved well. 2. Lea’s Jerseywood Keep on Loving, 9 month old Black & white bitch, feminine girl, good head, dark eyes, slightly longer than 1, slightly high in rear but this will change, good length of tail, moved a bit close behind . 3. Bonser’s Blackgold Autumnal Mist 4. Lea’s Jerseywood Love In The Dark 

J - 4/01. Wilcox’s Blackgold Age Of Aquarius, Chocolate & White Male,17 months old, very attentive to handler, lovely head with good expressive eyes, would prefer better ear placement, chest needs to develop, elbows nicely tucked in, good bone, good length of tail, moved well. RBOB 2. Askey’s Piece Of Happiness Tornado At Petalnote JW (IMP HUN), Black & White Male, 15 months old, good head, moderate stop, ears bit heavy, in good coat, didn’t move quite so well as 1. 3. Neil’s Dollindaw Dolly Daydream, Black & White Bitch, 11 months old, litter sister to 1st in puppy, similar in type just preferred her overall balance and movement. BP 4. Bonser’s Blackgold Autumnal Mist

PG - 6/2 1. Neil’s Shemella April Showers of Dollindaw, 4 yr old Black & White Bitch, nice head with expressive eyes, prick ears which she used to her advantage, just coming back into her own - dam to BP, best mover of the class. 2. Askey’s Piece Of Happiness Tornado At Petalnote - 2nd in Junior 3. Bonser’s Blackgold Autumnal Mist 4. Lea’s Jerseywood Love In The Dark

O - 4/3 1. Lea’s Calareto All My Loving JW, 4 yr old Black & White Bitch, well balanced head, lovely expression, nice dark eyes,kept level topline on move, good amount of bone, tail could be longer, moved effortlessly around the ring. BOB 

Shetland Sheepdog 

P - 1/0 Hateley’s Mohnesee Ria’ly A Dream JW, 11 month old Sable & White Bitch, lovely head, beautiful dark eyes, neat ears which added to her sweet expression, lovely balanced outline on the move, moving freely and purposefully - the ring was definitely hers. BP 

J - 0/0 PG - 2/1 1. Gould’s Shazbec Dolly Daydream, 18 month old Black Tri Bitch, little apprehensive at first, lovely feminine head, very expressive eyes, correct ear placement, excellent rear movement, lovely turn of stifle. RBOB

 O - 4/0 1. Hateley’s Mohnesee’s Meliya JW, 3 yr old Black Tri Bitch, lovely head, muscular neck going into well placed shoulders, well set ears, attentive to handler, nicely angulated and moved well. BOB 2. Sorockyj’s Sheltisha The One And Only JW, 18 month old Blue Merle Male, going through the junior phase at the moment, lovely outline, good head with correct eyes and neat ears, nice angulation, preferred the movement of 1. 3. Allsopp’s Grandgenes She Has The Look, 4. Deveson’s Milesend Sea Pearl
