SKC Junior Handling 6-11 years (14,4)

1st. Daphne Bryson, 11 years old

Faultless performance. Every moment of her handling craft was precise and neat. Daphne moved her dog in super straight lines, her pattern work was neat with tight corners and made good use of the ring. Demonstrated a calm and attentive handling style. Displayed her dogs teeth correctly, and her leadwork was tidy. Encouraged her dog throughout and they demonstrated a clear bond. A worthy winner, well done.

2nd. Konan Maver, 10 years

Another excellent handler in this strong class. Konan was alert and attentive throughout the handling class, and ensured his dog was presented to perfection at all times. His effortless handling style is most noted on the move with his dog, where he is able to move his dog at excellent pace, with neat pattern work without compromising his dogs “flow” on the move. A close second, just had an unlucky slip up with his lead work which was a “nit picking” fault to split decisions between these two strong handlers.

3rd. Abbie Smith

SKC Junior Handling 12-16 years (15,7)

1st. Keira Angus, 16 years

Topped a class of excellent handlers, with particularly hair-splitting decisions between 1st-3rd placings in this class. Very little to choose between these handlers. Keira’s handling throughout the class was effortless, with a sympathetic and subtle ease, allowing her dog to be the main focus at all times. Her lead work was exceptional and she demonstrated her dog’s teeth precisely. Keira moved her dog at an excellent pace, with neat pattern work, which is always challenging with a large breed such as a Weimaraner to match neat patterns whilst presenting the dog at a desired pace. An excellent faultless performance, well done Keira.

2nd. Alexis Kirkwood-Emery, 15 years

A very close 2nd place. Alexis is clearly an excellent handler, she presents her dog with confidence, which catches your eye and draws your attention to her charge. She makes her dog the centre of attention. Alexis presented her dog well on the table, with neat lead work and again presented the dog’s teeth correctly and with confidence. She moved her dog at a correct place, mastering the pattern work and was very attentive to her dog’s needs. Unfortunately on the day her dog wasn’t the most settled or co-operative, and so the demonstration wasn’t as point for point neat as 1st, which was the only splitting decision between these two handlers today. I always commend handlers for challenging themselves with different breeds and ages, well done Alexis.

Thank you to the committee for inviting me to judge the following stakes classes. Firstly the Davie Laidlaw Stakes Puppy, in memory of my Grandfather. Also the May Fraser Stakes Open, in memory of their secretary May Fraser. Judging these classes was very special to me, being able to represent my papa and May, both of whom were very influential in my showing and judging career.

Davie Laidlaw Stakes Puppy

1st O’Brien’s SOLETRADER ROCKIN ROBIN

11 month old Hungarian Vizsla male. Appealing in shape and outline, which immediately alerts your attention. Well bodied and developed for age already, with prominent forechest of good depth. Handsome in skull, with gentle expression. Well angulated fore and aft without exaggeration with the neatest of feet. Free flowing gait covering the ground well. Handled well to present him at his best. Just needs time to fully tighten up through development, but I am sure he has a promising future ahead.

2nd McDonald’s LAMANCHA UNSTOPPABLE

11 month old Golden Retriever bitch. Lovely young bitch, another excellent and promising youngster from this kennel. Super feminine head and expression with lovely pigment and raised brows. Balanced throughout with correct topline, and super hindquarters. In lovely coat and condition. Moved well and steady. Just felt 1st had the edge on maturity and finish today.

3rd McDonald’s TWINAN IVANNA WITH DONURIE

May Fraser Stakes Open

1st Lafferty & Lafferty’s JIMBREN LEGACY LIVES ON THROUGH TAURALORD

18 month old Boxer. Loved this boy, he caught my eye immediately in this class. Super masculine attractive head with correct proportions into strong muscled neck. Excellent angulation fore and after, with super depth and spring of rib. Well muscled loin and hindquarters. Neatest of feet. Presented in tip top condition. Moved a dream with power and precise strides with drive.

2nd Jolly’s PRIORPARK WILLIAM WALLACE FOR CLANBRUACHAN JW

2 year old Rhodesian Ridgeback. Another super appealing male. Handsome head with dark eye and raised brows and correct over skull and stop. Good well muscled reach of neck, meeting neatly at shoulders into correct topline. Good spring of ribs and length of loins. Well muscled and turned hindquarters. Moved with drive. Would prefer more forechest, but still lots of time for this to mature for this young male.
