A huge thank you to the committee for inviting me to judge at your lovely premier open show and a thanks to my very capable stewards for keeping things moving. It was a pleasure to judge all the lovely dogs, thank you to the exhibitors to allow me to do so.

Spaniel (English Springer)

Open 1/0

1.Merry, Gleadsbury It Is Destiny for Anacapa ShCEx. 3yr old liver and white male in good coat with adequate feathering. Balanced outline, standing on compact tight feet. Kind and alert expression. Skull broad and rounded. Strong, straight forequarters, good lay of shoulder. Body strong troughout, good depth of chest, loin firm. Well muscled hind quarters, good turn of stifle. Moved with good forward reach and drove from the rear. BOB

Spaniel (Sussex)

Puppy 3/0

1.Mercer & Thomas, Meol Wynion Of Stormacre. 9 month old, development at the right stage, displaying balance. Gentle expression with large hazel colour eye. Ears set low on a wide skull, good length of neck into clean shoulders. Straight back, firm hindquarters with strong hocks. Moved with the classic roll, tidy coming and going. BOB, BPIB.

2.Tilston, Carnedd Llewelyn. Litter mate to 1, Good over all bone and strong in body. Kind expression, slight arch to neck and good length in to well sloping shoulders. Chest deep, well muscled loin. Rear quarters well muscled, strong hocks. Not as clean in front movement as 1.

3.Mercer & Thomas, Stormacre Bark At The Moon.

1.Hipgrave, Lord of The Glittering Caves At Ternspringer. Good coat colour and texture. Well off for bone, tight rounded feet. Correct head planes, ears set close and low. Chest deep & reaches well back. Thick hindquarters which he used to drive on the move.

2.Davey, Eald Stands With Fist. Firm, straight topline. Strong short legs, with well muscled rear. Classic head for the breed with wide skull. Good spring of rib, loin short. Tidy feet. Moved well, just not as settled as 1.

Retriever (Flat Coat)

1.Whitaker, Touch of Power Black Brianta (Imp CZE). 8m old male displaying lovely balance for his age, very promising. Showed the happy nature of the breed, tail wagging. Correct head shape, lips clean, ears well set. Forelegs straight, chest developing well. Adequate turn of stifles with hocks well let down. Moved with ground covering action. BPIB.

1.Whitaker, Jetstarski Run Like Hell JW. Very happy and lively 2.5yr female. Pleasing head planes & a femanine frame. Good angulation fore and aft. Clean, lengthy neck. Chest down to elbows and elbows tucked in to chest. Coat feathering on limbs well established. Moved out with good reach and energy.

1.Blythin, Angelusparks V Practice Makes Perfect Julesville (Imp PRT). Upstanding male with super bone and substance. Very alert, outgoing with a kind expression. Maturing nicely with a good coat. Straight forequarters and tidy feet. Elbows well tucked in to a deep chest. Short loin. Hindquarters very well muscled. Hocks strong and well let down. True and balanced while he propelled round the ring. BOB, GRP 1.

1.Whitaker, SHCH Evening Mist Black Brianta ShcEx VW (Imp CZE). A lovely mature girl of good size and bone. Shown in fit condition. Nice tight feet, straight forelegs, good shoulders, chest of good proportions. Loin short. Another good, effortless mover.

1.Blomfield, Teverlarni Who’s That Girl At Woodland Blue. Good bone with a square outline. 18m old chestnut with well chiselled fore face, muzzled deep, good lay of ears. She has a kind eye of correct shape. Would prefer slight better lay if shoulder, chest deep & well sprung. She had a good trotting gait.

1.Warburton, Withamfriary Lush Blossom At Heberhouse. Feminine stamp but still has good bone and substance.Tidy oval feet, well constructed front. Rib cage deep and long enough. Move with ease.

1.Warburton, Owlspoint Loads Of Trouble At Heberhouse JW. 3yr male who has matured further since I last saw him. Good length to hight ratio with overall good bone. Classic long head with kind expression, deep muzzle & prominent occipital bone. Lovely shoulders and straight forequarters. Hocks strong and wide. True mover with drive from his well muscled hindquarters. BOB.

German Shorthaired Pointer

1.Sielski, Orchidstar Ravioli. 8m old boy with good overall proportions, a kind expression, clean neck of good length. Good infill of fore chest already, forelegs straight. Chest developing well. Good turn if stifle and hocks firm. Covered plenty of ground on the move with confidence.

Special Yearling 5/1

1.Sielski, Orchidstar Mutley. 8m old displaying clean lines and easy on the eye. Good angle fore & aft, firm top-line. Elbows held close to a well let down chest. Well developed rear quarters on this young dog, giving him the strength and power to move cleanly round the ring. BPIB.

2.Brown & Burns, Magregor Super Nude Around Pothouse. 17m old male, standing on tight feet good bone and body, up on his legs. Fantastic muscle, shown in hard condition. Soft, alert expression, ears set high. Neck strong into well laid shoulders. Level topline, loin short and firm. Good forward reach on the move, covering plenty of ground. 

3.Brown & Filby, Desjiem Rebel Rebel (AI).

1.Brown & Burns, Magregor Super Nude Around Pothouse.

2.Schoneville, Orchidstar Themisto By Balvenie. A solid, workman like body. Well muscled neck into good shoulders. Would prefer more length in rib cage but has good depth. Correct amount of tuck up. Nice muscle coverage on a well angulated rear. Tidy mover, not quite the drive as 1.

3.Brown & Filby, Desjiem Rebel Rebel (AI).

1.Brown & Burns, SHCH Magregor Four Letter Word For Pothouse. Just shy of 18m old and a very worthy show champion. All male, elegant with lovely proportions. Good width to skull, clean muzzle and good nostrils. Clean neck into good sloping shoulders, solid top line and wide at the croup. Well bent stifles and strong, straight hocks. Lovely muscle all round. Moved parallel coming and going, with good reach in front and drive from the rear. BOB

2.Sielski, Orchidstar Tick Tok JW. A lovely, classic, feminine girl. Everything in place on a good frame. Nice head shape and an intelligent expression. Shoulders well laid, forelegs straight, rib cage well sprung and correct depth. Another clean mover today.

Lovely head planes, good length of neck. Super angulation front and rear. Good depth of chest and spring of rib. Powered round the ring with drive, clean coming and going. BOB. GRP3

2.McCullough, SHCH Kimmax Kindly Stand Black. I see is litter mate to 1. Lovely substance, clean, feminine lines. Kind eye on a classic head. Strong topline, good ribbing and a firm loin. Well laid shoulders with straight legs. Well muscled rear quarters. Good ground covering action on the move.

1.Moss, SHCH Ewtor Blue Moon. A quality male with good length to height ratio. Correct head proportions and good ears. Rib cage well developed and depth reaches to elbow. Strong rear quarters, hocks well let down. Coat in good condition. Moved with ease with good reach and drive. BOB

1.Phillips, Arcticbreeze Kiss Chase. Stands square in body with a nice curly coat. Head developing at the correct rate, skull of good width. Neck short into long, well laid shoulders, straight forelegs. Chest of good shape. Moderate bend of stifle. Moved out well once settled.

1.Phillips, Arcticbreeze City Light. Another lovely puppy, happy and confident. Good head proportions with a lively expression. Good bone. Forelegs straight with slight slope to pasterns, feet tight. Elbows close to rib cage, loin short. Good rear angles. Moved with good drive from the rear and an easy action. BPIB BOB.

Pointer

Puppy 2/0

1.Oddie, Sharnphilly Euphoria For Riowood. 7m old bitch with such clean lines for a youngster. So eye catching. Well off for bone. Lovely dark eye and nose pigment. The perfect of head shapes with ears set high. Fabulous feet. Forequarters straight with oval bone. Her lengthy neck flows into a well laid shoulder. Ribs reach well back. Good rear angulation, hocks firm. Covered the ground smoothly and confidently. A very promising girl BPIB, Puppy Group 2.

2.Blake, Wilchrimane Flomotion. Another lovely 7m old youngster displaying super potential for the future. Lovely clean, long neck. Well placed shoulders and good upper arm. Good depth of chest and spring of rib cage. Nice topline, well turned stifles and hocks well set. Another good mover.

1.Weaver, Jalopy Zelda. Black and white bitch with good proportions, clean angulation fore and aft. Dark, kind eye on a lovely head piece, lengthy neck and long shoulder. Correct depth of chest. Well muscled rear quarters, firm hocks. Won the class on movement today.

2.Millett, Laveto Remember When. Well built B&W dog, with strong bone. Typical head planes, ears set high. Decent front assembly, would prefer little more turn of stifle. Cover ground well on the move.

3.Astbury, Raigmore Leap Of Faith To Norbury.

1.Millet, Riowood Orange Twist. O&W. This boy stood out for his type in this class, nothing over done, good bone. Lovely expression, head and skull of good proportions, prominent occipital bone. Muscular, long neck, well placed shoulders, pasterns of good length. Move with ease over the ground with good tail carriage. BOB

2.Weaver, Dappleline Chance For Anniezu. A lot to like about this boy too, just not quite as balanced as 1 today. Good bone, straight forelegs and today feet. Chest to elbows. Rear angulations ok. Moved out well.

3.Wardle, Sunhouse All Blacks (AI).

1.Rigby, Glaneils Enjoy The Silence. 6m old Chesapeake bay retriever. Happy, confident boy development at the correct stage. Strong bone, in good coat. Head a good size, lips clean. Good shoulders, rib cage of good depth and spring. Stifle well turned. When settled he moved well. BP.

2.Foster, Affilato Play Cupid. 10m old Italian Spinone, lovely shape and balance, good bone and correct coat. She has the breed typical topline, good depth of chest, well laid shoulder & good return of upper arm. Rear quarters adequately muscled, broad in the croup. A nice free stride on the move.

1.Bennion, Menstonia Endless Dreams JW. 15m old Welsh springer, lovely balanced outline, good leg length, feet tight. Good proportions in the head with adequate stop, good bite. Lengthy neck, shoulders ok, chest well developed. Really used his muscled hindquarters to drive on the move. BOB

2.Pilkington, Albadhu Playing With Fire At Baycross. Large Munsterlander Good coat and plenty of feathering, pleasing head, strong neck with slight arch. Shoulder well set, chest deep and reaches well back. Nice ben of stifle. Lively on the move with good reach and drive.

1.Tilston, Maursett Menelaus. Clumber Spaniel. Mature dog of good size and shape, strong in body and bone. Head masculine, stop deep and muzzle square. Plenty of heart and lung room in the chest, legs short and good size feet. Used his powerful, muscled rear quarters to move with drive. Correct tail carriage. 

2. Williams & Gillard, Bournehouse Romeo. Hungarian Vizsla. Another lovely dog full of breed type. An oval eye on an appealing head, ears set low. Topline level, chest deep, good tuck and loin. Well muscled all round. Clean angles fore and aft with straight forelegs. Moved with reach and drive

3. Shorrocks, Vizash Hunor.

1.Rigby, SHCH Chesepi Waco. Chesapeake Bay Retriever. 8yr old male of good substance, kind eye, good width of skull. Well boned forequarters, long shoulder blade which is well laid. Rub cage well sprung and deep. Stifle well turned feet correct. Lacked enthusiasm on the move today.

 1. Grime, Pry Acta Non Verba At Ansona (Imp SVK). Slovakian Rough Haired Pointer. 12m old with a good coat and clean outlines with a workman like appearance. Equal length of skull to muzzle, good wide nostril, light amber eye. Shoulder well laid, straight forelegs. Forechest is coming in, good ribbing. Rear angulation ok, good muscle. Moved with good reach, holding her topline. BP

2.Mccullough, Fidelix Special Edition At Kimmax. Korthals Griffon. Workman like 4yr dog with super muscle, bone and substance with a harsh coat, good beard. Correct body proportions, chest deep, firm lion. Straight hock, well turned stile. Moved with a strong drive, covering plenty of ground. Best Import. 

AV Gundog Veteran 9/3

1.Jones, Ewtor crazy Kinda Love At Pennybeck. Field Spaniel. 9yr old liver bitch still looking great & fit. Feminine head with the almond eye shape, neck lengthy and strong. Level topline, chest deep. Stands on good size, rounded feet. Moved with a good stride in profile, tidy coming and going. 

2.Adshaed, SHCH Afonbach Winter Is Coming JW ShCEx OSW VW. Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retreiver. 8.5y old dog in good coat and condition. Good head shape with intelligent expression. Shoulders well laid, chest reaching to elbows, and well sprung. Level topline leading to a slightly sloping croup. Good tail set and carriage. Moved well, just a touch close behind.

3.James, Tsarmont Star Quality. 

Gundog Group

Such a quality group to judge, which made for some difficult decisions.

1. Blythin, Angelusparks V Practice Makes Perfect Julesville (Imp PRT). Flat Coated Retriever. Continued to display his happy character. Used the full run of the mat to show is free movement, while holding his topline.

2. Gordon-Smith, Bibby & Gordon-Smith, Bruxinho Ginkgo Biloba. Labrador. What a fabulous 10m old yellow dog, he is so natural at standing four square. Super angles fore & after, perfect weight and condition with with lovely bone. Good head proportions with ideal width of skull. Barrel shape ribcage with good depth. Level topline. Tail held correctly and wagging all the time. Moved free and true, in unison with his handler. Couldn’t take my eye off him. A promising future for sure. 

3, McCullough, SHCH Kimmax Kiss Ma Blackside at Beechillawn,

4. West, ShCH Gunalt Wavelength JW shCEx OSW. 5.5yr old bitch shown in good fit condition. A pleasing, feminine head, good shoulders and straight forelegs. Plenty of lung room in the chest. Topline straight and strong, short loin & correct croup. She covered the ground with an effortless stride.

Gundog Puppy Group

Another quality group with some very well schooled puppies. 

1. Gordon-Smith, Bibby & Gordon-Smith, Bruxinho Ginkgo Biloba. Labrador.

2. Oddie, Sharnphilly Euphoria For Riowood. Pointer. This young lady really held her own in the puppy group. Clean & balanced. I will watch here progress with interest.

3. Hostler, Theondale High Hopes. Just shy of 12m old this girl has a clean outline & feminine frame. Correct length to high ratio. Lovely upper arm and shoulder which allows her to reach on the move. Rib cage reaches well back to a short loin. Good of stifle and straight hocks. 

4. Davies, Annaside Swing On A Star. Cocker. A nice example of the breed with good coat (Black & tan) and happy nature. Well developed skull, muzzle square, neck long and clean. Shoulder well laid, chest has good spring, lion short, correct tail set. Displayed the merry cocker on the move with good drive.
