Spaniel (Cocker)

Puppy (2, 0 absent)

1st and Best Puppy Davie’s Kerriglow Firefly. 8 month old bitch, lovely balance and type. Square muzzle with distinct stop. Correct eye colour giving a gentle expression. Ears set on low, clean neck into well laid shoulders. Well boned with correct length of leg. Strong and compact in the body for age, ribs well sprung. Hindquarters developing nicely, correct length to hock. Nice firm feet. Moved well.

2nd Tomlinson’s Milalder Jumping for Joy. Well marked white and orange. Nice head and expression, with good eye shape and colour, ears set on correctly with good length. Correct scissor bite. Well laid shoulders, not as developed in body as 1, but still only young. Hindquarters good and moved well.

Junior (2,0 absent)

1st Morris’s Riondel Masquerade in Blu Well-proportioned blue roan bitch. Nicely balanced head with good square muzzle, distinct stop, eyes of good colour and shape giving a gentle expression. Would have preferred slightly more length of neck, but good lay of shoulders well boned. Body was strong and compact with a well sprung rib. Good bend of stifle and well-rounded quarters. Moved well.

2nd Hirst’s Mallinson Dotty Dot. Merry young bitch, slightly taller than 1. Lovely head and expression with correct balance to head, eye colour and ear set. Reasonable length of neck in to well laid shoulders, Moved well. Just preferred the overall balance of 1.

Postgraduate (6, 1 absent)

 Quite a variation in type in this class which made decisions a little more difficult.

1st Tomlinson’s Milader April Showers. Felt this bitch was the most balanced in the class. Attractive head with good shape to skull, correct chiselling, eyes of decent shape and colour giving gentle expression. Ears set on low level with eyes. Moderate neck into good forequarters, legs well boned. Body strong and compact with deep brisket and well sprung rib. Hindquarters well rounded and correct length of hock. Coat of good texture. Moved well.

2nd Walker’s Andalasia. Two year old dog with good height to length ratio. Head well balanced and typical. Moderate neck into good front assembly. Strong and compact in body. Pushed 1 hard but just felt 1 had the edge in overall balance.

3rd Jone’s Oktumi Star Chaser

1st and BOB Sewell’s Lynwater Mad Hatter at Quattrozampe JW Only 19 months old, but mature for age. Lovely balanced dog that moved with great drive and a typical merry cocker outlook. Typical head and expression. Lovely neck into well laid shoulders with powerful forequarters, well boned. Body short and compact with deep enough brisket and well sprung rib. Topline correct and kept on the move. Well rounded hindquarters, with good bend of stifle, well muscled giving drive from behind. Tail set on correct and carried well on move.

2nd Beever’s Dandyjan Dark Defender Well balanced, lovely dog of 3 years. Good head with typical expression. With good eye shape and colour giving a merry but gentle expression. Ears set on well. Good scissor bite. Front assembly good well boned, good spring of rib. Hindquarters well rounded and hocks of correct length. Just preferred 1 on the move.

1st and BOB Baxter’s Davigdor Rising Sun at Riverkeeper 8 year old Orange and white at his first show. Skull well of medium breadth, well defined stop with slightly dished appearance. Eyes of correct colour. Scissor bite. Strong neck in to well laid shoulder, strong rear quarters with well-turned stifle. Just feel he could carry less weight to be shown to advantage.

1st and Best Puppy Millington’s Strettonhills Bring It Home To Jarabees Nicely balanced boy of 7 months. Lovely expression with nice shape and type. Eyes dark and well set, with ears set on level with eyes. Good neck into well laid shoulders and excellent front assembly. Body was at right stage of development for his age and not overdone in any way. Well angulated hindquarters with a good width of second thigh. Tail set on well and carried correctly. Babyish in movement but will tighten with age. Very promising young man.

2nd Copley’s Ashbyglen True Colours at Emmabe. Another promising youngster with balanced appearance. Head was of correct proportions. Eyes dark and well set. Correct scissor bite. Neck was clean and of good length in to well laid shoulders. Good body and developing well. Just preferred the first on front movement.

1st Liggin’s and Hodge’s Swanavly Popsy’s Legacy At Nunsbrook (impSRB). Pale Cream, well balanced boy put down in good coat and condition. Head well balanced with sufficient breadth of skull and correct length ratios. Neck was strong and muscular. Well laid shoulders with good depth to rib and strength in topline Hindquarters were strong and muscular with good muscle tone. Just preferred the winner of open on the move.

1st and BOB Liggin’s and Hodge’s Silverpassion Glam Fashion at Nunsbrook (imp Deu). Active and powerful male just coming to full maturity. In good coat and condition. Well proportioned head, eyes dark and well set apart. Clean muscular neck, well laid shoulders. Body balanced and short coupled with good depth and spring to rib. Moved the best in the class.

2nd Bufton and Reilly’s Phoslas Polly Flinders. Very feminine 5 year old bitch, well balanced outline, with good head and expression. Very good forequarters and well let down hocks with good width of second thigh. Just felt 1 had edge on coat and movement.

3rd Copley’s Lalique Lord of the Rings at Hamcar

1st and Best Puppy Whitaker’s Touch of Power Black Brianta (imp CZE). 6 month old dog, giving away a lot in age in this class but beautifully balanced. Nice long moulded head, eyes of good size and colour. Correct length of neck in to well laid shoulders, well defined brisket for his age and good straight bone. Super hindquarters with moderate bend of stifle, stands true. Moved very well.

2nd Egginton’s Pajanbech Hold My Halo. A nicely balanced bitch at the top of the age group in this class. Lovely head and expression Good front and body, well ribbed up for age. Short in loin with muscular hindquarters. Another who moved well for age.

3rd Long’s Wyrebeck Think Of Me At Keepersway.

1st Whitaker’s Jetstarski Run Like Hell JW. 20 month old bitch of lovely type. Well bodied but with the desired raciness. Loved her head and expression, with correct eye colour and set. Excellent shoulders, which won her the class, well ribbed up. Short and square in loin. Moderate bend of stifle and good width of second thigh. Moved very well.

2nd Egginton’s Pajanbech Hold My Halo. Repeat

1st and BOB Whitaker’s Sh Ch Evening Mist Black Brianta VW (imp Cze). Fabulous mature bitch put down in tip top order and well muscled. Correct balance to head and lovely expression. Good front and return of upper arm. Strong in topline, with chest deep and broad. Well muscled and strong in hindquarters. Correct tail set and well carried. Moved very well. Dam of best puppy and has passed on many of her attributes.

1st and Best Puppy Bibby’s and Gordon Smith’s Bruxinho Ginkgo Biloba. Promising yellow dog puppy of 8 months, this young man really took my eye. Not overdone in any way. Loved his head and expression, correct balance, eye colour and pigmentation. Scissor bite. Strong powerful; neck into good front with excellent bone. Enough depth of chest and ribbing for his age. Well angulated with hocks well let down. His otter tail a pleasure to see as was his excellent coat and texture. Moved well

2nd Thompson’s Meadowline Tiger Lily Another promising yellow puppy of excellent type. Lots of the same attributes as 1,but not yet quite as mature. Pushed winner hard and am sure has a bright future ahead.

1st Bibby’s and Gordon Smith’s Bruxinho Feeling Epic. 2 year old yellow bitch, with a happy outgoing temperament. Lovely clean outline. Sufficient breadth to head, clean cut. Dark eye with good pigmentation., Ears correctly set. Powerful neck into good front assembly. Deep chest, ribs well sprung. Stifle well turned, good feet. Moving well. Coat of good texture and colour.

1st and BOB Smith’s Flyenpig Jurgen Chop (JW). 2 year old black male, looking mature. Good head and expression with sufficient width to skull and balance to muzzle. Clean strong neck into well laid back shoulders Good depth of chest, back short and level with strength across the loin. Stifles well turned and good muscle tone to hindquarters. Stands on good correct feet. Typical otter tail. Movement was particularly good which gave him the edge for BOB.

1st and BOB Holmes’s Gwendariff Mr Blue Sky Very well balanced dog of just over 2 years, shown in correct full coat. Long lean skull, eyes of good colour, ears set low giving correct expression. Moderate length of neck in to well laid shoulders and good front assembly. Good depth of chest and muscular loin. Muscular hindquarters with good bend of stifle. Moved very well.

2nd Hignett Capper, Capper, Kassube and French’s Carura Pearl of The North. 20 months old bitch, slightly less mature than first, but lots to like about her. Beautiful head and expression with long lean skull and defined occiput, eyes of correct colour and set. Well put together both fore and aft, moved well – and was only beaten by the maturity of the first.

3rd Kassube and French’s Thendara Hot Diamond and Carura.

2nd Kassube and French’s Thendara Hot Diamond and Carura Third in Post graduate. Lots to like about this dog in good coat and well presented. Just preferred the front movement of the winner.

1st Pilkington’s Albadhu Playing with Fire at Baycross. Nice young Munsterlander dog, just out of puppy. Well balanced, good head and expression. Strong neck into well laid shoulders and good front assembly. Kept his topline on the move, still developing in body as expected at this age. Moderate rear angulation. Moved well.

Postgraduate (5, 3 absent)

1st Hawkin’s Schonhund Show At The Oscars. Mature looking Weimaraner dog. Lovely head that had the desired aristocratic look. Clean neck good shoulders. Chest well developed, short and firm in loin. Moderate angulation to the rear, moving well. Correct colour and short smooth coat.

2nd Thomas’s Arctic Breeze On The Double. Lagotto dog just coming up for 2 years. Correct proportions and balance to head, good eye colour and set. Neck muscular, shoulders moderately well laid back. Powerful quarters but would have liked slightly shorter in loin to complete picture.

One of the best classes of the day, three very nice dogs.

1st and best AVNSC Merry’s Gleadsbury It Is Destiny for Ancapa Mature Liver and white English Springer put down in tip top order and coat. mature dog, sound on the move. Correct head with lovely expression and good depth to muzzle. Eyes of good colour and shape, ears lobular and nicely feathered. Slightly arched, strong muscular neck into excellent forequarters. Lovely depth of chest and well sprung ribs, muscular loin. Good breadth of thigh and well muscled which showed in his excellent movement.

2nd Moore’s Fantastic Shine Like a Diamond At Gadhelic Jw (imp Fin). 2year old Field Spaniel bitch of lovely quality. Lovely Head and expression, well chiselled head with good eye colour and shape giving the desired expression. Good strength to neck in to well laid shoulders Good straight bone. Correct length to ribs, keeping topline on the move. Hocks well let down and presented in good coat. Pushed 1 hard and little to choose between them.

Good reach and drive on the move.
