I had a lovely day judging Pugs, Dachshunds and Whippets with a good entry on paper, sadly lots of absentees in the first two breeds but I was still able to put through quality dogs to the groups, thanks to those exhibitors who did attend. Thank you also to my very capable stewards for their assistance.
PUGS P (2) Although quite different, I liked both these youngsters, today the winner was just more settled on the move 1 Mitchells Pigalle Cherryade 7 mth b and a very neat package, pleasing head with short muzzle and large dark eye, strong neck and cobby body, well angulated fore and aft and reaching well in front, she just needs to body up a little more 2 Ellis Edgwarebury Lady Katherine Eastonite 10mth fawn b larger all through than the winner and just a fraction longer in body but I did prefer her overall substance, strong straight forelegs and developing well in front, and she has a good spring of rib and tightly curled tail, took her time to settle but went forward well once she did. J (3,1) 1 and BP, RBOB Mitchell and Crumps Pigalle Absolute Cherry 7mth b presenting a smart and cobby outline, pleasing well pigmented head with large clean eyes, strong neck allowing for good head carriage, ample width in front with a good spring of rib and well developed in the rear, moved out with drive, won BP over her litter mate on her better substance 2 Mitchell’s Pigalle Cherry Gelato Cedilla sister to the class winner and very similar as you would expect to see, pleasing head shape but ears need to settle down, good shoulders and enough bredth across the chest for age, not so positive on the move L (2,2) O (3,2) 1 and BOB Mitchell Cedilla Flowering Cherry JW a pretty fawn b with a beautiful head, excellent pigment and large eyes giving an appealing expression, short strong neck and a well developed front, cobby body with a good topline, tightly curled tail and moving out with purpose.
DACHSHUNDS MLH P (3) 1 and BOB, BP, HG4 Millingtons Hedgefen Odds On Favourite For Cunannun 7 mth shaded cream b, what a little star she was at what I understood was her first show, she has a beautiful head and a super expression, she is developing well in front and stands on short strong forelegs and broad deep feet, firm in topline with strong loin and moving out soundly with good rear drive, handler just needs to check how her rear end is placed as she could have been stretched out just a fraction to show off her hind angulation a little more 2 Palmers Hedgefen Girl From Mars, a pretty red b who is finer all through than the winner, she has a decent head shape but ears could be better set, good front and feet and a firm level topline held on the move, carries herself nicely in motion J (2,1) 1 Millington Cunannun Put The Crazy Away another shaded cream by the same sire as the BOB/BP, she too has an attractive head and pleasing expression coming from her almond shaped eye, not quite as true in front as the BP and I would have liked a better meet of spine to tail, not as confident on the move as her kennel mate L (4,1) 1 and RBOB Taverners Brackenfire My Honey Bee At Tavertekal b/t b who presents a nicely balanced outline, attractive head with well feathered ears and a strong neck into well placed shoulders, good keel, deep chest and strong topline, moved out soundly but could have a little more drive 2 Siggee’s Ensigynes Glaciarium this exhibit was the best mover in the class and in profile body is balanced with a pleasing outline, level topline on to well set tail and muscular angulated quarters, head whilst feminine has too much stop which spoilt the overall picture, very well presented 3 Edwards- Everett and Everett’s Emeraldax Naked Kiss O (2) 1 Whitnalls Fennedax Amber Royal 5 yr b/t b, good head shape with dark almond eye, ample length of neck and good keel, feet could be better but she is a decent overall shape, just needs to settle on the move 2 Hedgefen Girl From Mars
Dachshunds MSH P (2,1) 1 and BOB, BP Taylors Whitewebb Obi Wan 7 mths red dog with a delightful character exuding a happy and confident disposition, good conical head and dark eye, strong neck and short well boned forelegs, enough spring of rib for age and a strong level topline carried on the move. Despite being a pound or two overweight he does move exceptionally well with good reach and drive J (2,2) L (4,3) 1 FOLEYS Loggeta Lucky Swirl At Clavennae 2.5 red brindle b, not the biggest but nicely proportioned with a feminine head that could still develop on and lovely dark eye, ample neck and well placed shoulders, body is well ribbed and topline firm, she still needs to come together in rear movement and to gain a little more confidence O (3,3)
DACHSHUND SH P (2,1) 1 and BP PG1 Gaskins Hampdach Force Awakens With Dovestream a well proportioned red d with a pleasing outline, conical head with high set ears, good length of neck, well ribbed body and firm topline, I liked his overall proportions and particularly his hind angulation and broad rear, and he is a super mover for one so young going freely with good drive 2 Taylor, Williams and Williams Bulldaxits Armani My Way 7mth shaded red d whose head particularly appealed, he is developing well in front and stands on full deep feet, developing well in front with good depth to chest, needs to firm up in topline but moved out with good drive J (0) L (1,1) O (2) Two super specimens that I have judged before and placed the same way 1 and BOB, G1 Gaskins IR Ch Dovestream Who Kilkenny IR JCH b/t d with a super head shape, high set ears and dark well placed eyes, shoulders are well laid and keel prominent, shoulders, body is of good length and muscular and he is well angulated in the rear, smart and sound on the move with following movement and just a little more drive than 2 Gaskins IR CH I Am The One And Only At Dovestream this red boy has a smart outline with a good length of neck and strong topline, he is well angulated in front and behind but not quite the carriage and showmanship of his kennel mate.
DACHSHUNDS LH Only one entry in this variety but what a cracker she is ! P (1) 1 and BOB, BP Clarkes Briarmist Fire And Ice To Tekalhaus (Imp Aus) a most attractive b presented in beautiful coat and condition, conical head with well set and well feathered ears, lovely neck and shoulders and standing true in front on good feet, ribs extend well back under a firm topline continuing on to well set tail, on the move she carries herself proudly and goes with soundness and accuracy. I understand she was shortlisted in the adult group and I feel she will have a very bright future J (0) L (0) O (0)
DACHSHUND WH P (2,1) 1 and BP, RBOB Osbournes Cloudside Xander Around Braego smart 9 mth wildboar d with a super outline and good ground clearance, lovely neck, slightly arched and an excellent front with developing keel and depth to chest, good length of body and carrying a firm topline , well angulated in the rear and moving with drive, just between coats at the moment but a nice prospect J (3,3) L (2,1) 1 Coverleys Aventine Milady this 4 yr b was rather unsure of herself today and is a little high on the leg, however she has good bone and nice deep feet with a good length of body and level topline, strong in the rear which could produce good drive but I felt she was held back a little by her owner O (3,2) 1 and BOB Normans Silvae Standard Bearer 21mth wildboar d, I loved this smart young dog who has a super character and is a bit of a show man. Excellent head and eye with prominent beard and bushy eyebrows, strong neck and a good lay of shoulder, deep chest and level topline to firm loin and good tail set, strutted his stuff very well around the ring reaching well in front.
DACHSHUND MWH P (1) 1 and BOB, BP, PG4 Flowers and Smith Bingobongo’s Dualist 7mth b/t and so smart both in profile and on the move , handsome head with well used ears, good front with keel developing well, short strong legs and a firm topline, well angulated in the rear and covering the ground soundly with good drive, loved him ! J (0) L (3,1) 1 Flowers and Smith Parashies Rodmyra At Bingobongo (Imp Swe) This 19mth red d looked very balanced on the stack with a lovely head and expression, good reach of neck and excellent topline, broad hindquarters, he just needs to collect himself together in front a little more but 2 Foleys Bimini Alfie Moon at Clavennae, this boy has a handsome head with good furnishings, enough neck into well laid shoulders and muscular well ribbed body, he tends to roach his topline on the move but this could be because he carries his head lower than desirable, whilst I preferred his front movement to that of the winner, I couldn’t compromise on his shape in profile O (1) 1 and RBOB Grants Bingobongo’s Dodge At Granhoward free moving youngster in good coat and overall condition, good head shape and bright expression, he still can develop a touch in front but has ample forechest for his age, well sprung ribs and a firm topline with enough ground clearance, I just preferred the showmanship of the puppy today.
WHIPPETS MP (3) 1 Morland and Soffe Zoraden Meant To Beaver fawn/white b and very much a baby at just 6 months, however she has a really lovely shape with a long clean neck and correct topline with slight arch over the loin and a good bend of stifle, profile movement shows reach and drive but as expected just a touch loose in front when coming towards. 2 Moylan Selinko Good As Gold Fawn/brindle/white b who makes a pleasing outline on the stack with shapely underline and slight rise over the loin, pleasing head which is lean and tapers to muzzle and oval eye but ears need to settle in place, arched neck into well laid shoulders, well developed thighs with good muscletone, not the stride of the winner but I preferred her size to that of 3 Reece Velandor Illuminada Over Saleehah P (3) 1 and BP, PG3 Bidmeads Ballauren’s Precious Love At Bodelli, my eye kept getting drawn to this girl, at almost 12 months she looks fairly mature for her age, she has a lovely lean head and bright expressive eyes and a long slightly arched neck, good depth of chest and firm topline with slight rise, thighs are well developed and muscular and she moved out with accuracy holding her shape, delighted to hear she was placed in a very good puppy group congratulations 2 Hunters Katiesues Attraction At Salatini 9.5 mth brindle/white b who presents a clean and elegant outline, attractive head with bright clean eye and well set ears, long clean neck and standing on straight forelegs and strong pasterns, muscular hindquarters with a good bend of stifle and strong hocks, not quite as positive in front movement as the winner today 3 Wells Katiesues Shotgun Fred J (2) 1 Ballaruens Precious Love At Bodelli 2 Hunters Dapperdiva Sugar And Spice At Salatini a fawn/white b with a beautiful lean head and expressive eye, lovely neck into good shoulders, she stands true in front on strong pasterns and neat oval feet, and is nicely angulated in the rear with well let down hocks, I thought her topline was a little flat today which was the deciding factor for this class, but lots to like about this elegant girl (3,1) 1 Wilsons Boughton Busy Lizzie For Hamiltonhill fawn b with a balanced and clean outline, pleasing head and lovely neck into well placed shoulders, deep chest with shapely underline and well angulated quarters, I would have liked a slightly better croup but she moved out well to win this class 2 Pyes Lolani Under the Influence Of Perromono fawn/white b who makes a clean outline on the stack with straight front, good shoulders and a sweeping underline, she does move with drive but was crabbing a little on the way round L (3,1) 1 Wells Selinko Stargazer blue brindle/white I very much liked the shape of this d and he has a pleasing head and eye,. Clean neck of good length and ample front angulation, good depth of chest and correct topline, a sound and accurate mover but could have a little animation 2 Rainsbury Shalfleet Chasing the Sun brindle dog out of a smaller mould, lean head with neat well set ears, good length of neck to well placed shoulders and deep through the chest, I liked his front movement which showed good reach but he is a tad overangulated in the rear and therefore not as strong on the away as she might otherwise be O (3,1) 1 and BOB Morlands CH Zoraden Gossip Girl JW SH.Cex OSW brindle b with a clean head and super bright expression, graceful neck into good shoulders and standing on strong straight forelegs, shapely well toned body, muscular loin with plenty of hind angulation without being overdone and boy can she move! Not surprised to learn she is well titled, a really top class specimen 2 RBOB Wilton-Clarks Shalfleet Chasing the Wind JW, another very good specimen, this brindle and white d has a lot to admire, he is shapely with a good head and expression and strong clean neck of good length, shoulders are well laid, topline rises slightly over the loin and thighs are strong and muscular with a good bend of stifle, very accurate all ways, I just preferred the stride of the winner today.
