GUNDOG BREEDS OF SCOTLAND OPEN SHOW

SATURDAY, 28 MARCH 2026

Firstly, I would like to extend my sincere thanks to the committee for inviting me to judge our delightful breed – the hospitality and warmth at this show was fabulous. I was really looking forward to my entry today and it did not disappoint – the quality of the dogs was very good indeed, making decisions in classes very difficult and I know they will change places on different days.

A huge shout out to Jim, for his kindness throughout the whole day and for looking after me so well – I was so fortunate to have him steward for me; ensuring everything ran smoothly and seamlessly.

 The sporting atmosphere around the ring was so nice to see and thank you to all exhibitors for presenting their lovely dogs so well – my hands were as clean as when I started.

I thoroughly enjoyed my entry.

1ST BLUEBRAES VOYAGER

This little poppet caught my attention as soon as she entered the ring – she is just as she should be for 8 months, beautifully angulated front and rear – gleaming mid gold coat presented in good condition. Ultra feminine head, enhanced by her super pigmentation, nice ear set and correct bite, straight front with round catlike feet, good lay back of shoulder with good return of upper arm. Level topline, good bend of stifle enabling her to move well. Just pipped to best Puppy today as I thought the boy a bit more mature – this little lovely will trouble the best when fully mature I’m sure.

2nd PEVRILPOINT DON’T STOP ME NOW

Very nice, 6 month baby, prettiest of heads with a very sweet expression, correct bite with good pigmentation in lovely full cream coat, nicely angulated has good bone for her age and is short coupled.

14 month mid gold, what a super bitch from any angle, she is symmetrical and balanced in outline with nothing overdone – Her feminine head has good width and depth enhanced by lovely dark pigmentation with a melting expression, correct ear set and eye shape; good reach of neck leading to good layback of shoulders. Good straight forelegs of strong bone, neat elbows, ribs well sprung and body short coupled. Her lovely construction enabled her to move very well.

A very happy show girl.

2nd LAMANCHA UNSTOPPABLE

Very nice 13 month pale gold girl, with good front and rear angulation which allowed her to move well, lovely dark pigmentation, level top line and tail set unfortunately not in the coat of my winner today, but very nice indeed

1st CADWST SONG OF SPRING JW

Well balanced, ultra feminine cream bitch who presents a very pleasing overall picture. She has a lovely outline and stands true, with nicely constructed front and rear assembly that contributes to her overall harmony. Her head is particularly appealing, with a soft typical expression which immediately draws the eye. A good reach of neck into well lay back of shoulder with good return of upper arm, the straightest of fronts with lovely catlike feet; well sprung ribs and deep through the heart. Lovely level topline and tail well set on. She is short coupled and presents good bend of stifle with well let down hocks. Her movement was a joy to watch.

2ND PONFEIGH REBELLIOUS ANGEL (AI)

Another really nice bitch, so beautifully handled to get the very best out of her – everything is in the right place, she is well angulated front and rear and has the sweetest of head; well laid back shoulders, lovely catlike feet, presented in good coat, I am sure we will hear a lot more of this charming bitch.

1st THORNYWAIT ROYAL STORY

She presents such a balanced outline and is of very good type, she has a gentle expression, most elegant of necks leading to well laid back of shoulders and good return of upper arm, super front, catlike round feet, maintaining her excellent top line and tail set whilst on the move, she has a good bend of stifle with good second thighs, but wow when on the move this is when this fabulously constructed bitch impresses; displaying exceptional drive and purpose, her handler is particularly good at getting the best out of her and I could watch them all day. A masterclass in movement, very well done – Best bitch.

2nd ASTLEYFOLD SNOWY BELL JW

Super feminine cream bitch in good coat and condition, nicely balanced throughout, straight front on catlike feet, her head is well balanced and she has a good reach of neck into well laid back shoulders, very nice indeed, she lost out today on the fabulous movement of my winner.

1st AMBERSUN PASSIONE OF ODARLA JW

This girl is a favourite of mine, and I have done her well in the past, again she didn’t disappoint, fabulous girl, she is shown in glamourous cream coat and is so well balanced and paints such a gorgeous outline both standing and on the move, she has the sweetest of expressions, with lovely dark pigmentation, her elegant neck flowing into well laid back shoulders, correct balanced angulation fore and rear, good spring of rib, dead level top line which she held on the move.

2nd DRUMKILTY NOLLAIG SHONA JW

Super bitch, very well angulated from all angles, has a lovely balanced head and kindly expression, presented in tip top coat and condition, she has good spring of rib and is deep through the heart, she has a dead level topline that she held on the move, her movement is long and free with drive - she was very close up to my winner.

Such a super quality bitch with a beautifully balanced outline, a pretty well-proportioned ultra feminine head, good width to skull, lovely pigmentation, correct ear placement, good reach of neck, correctly constructed throughout, strong level topline, well-developed quarters with well let down hocks, in super coat and condition. Her balance and symmetry came into its own on the move. I liked her very much.

2ND TULLOCHMOHR SHOOTING STAR AT GLYNERVA JW

Lovely feminine head, good pigmentation, straight front with nice tight feet, elbows close into body and well sprung rib, nice short coupled body with good bend of stifle, straight hocks with good tail set. Moved well. Unfortunate to meet my winner today.

My winner is very nice indeed, he has such balance for 9 months old, he has the sweetest of heads, enhanced with good pigment and melting expression, good length of neck into correct front assembly good straight front legs with tight catlike feet, level topline and correct tail set, short coupled. This young man moved very well with a long easy stride. Will watch his progress with interest. BPD, BPIB

This fifteen month old cream golden dog caught my eye immediately. He is a quality youngster of excellent type with an outgoing personality Well presented in super coat and condition. Very well balanced for his age with an attractive masculine head and gentle expression. Good front and depth of chest, elbows set close and deep through the heart. Correct shoulder placement and muscular neck. Great topline, which he held on the move. Very stylish mover. He must have a great future,

Another nice boy, good coat and condition, nicely angulated front and rear, with a sweet head and expression he has a good bend of stifle with well let down hocks, moved very well.

Another favourite of mine, who I have done well in the past, and again he didn’t disappoint. He is just so well balanced. Possessing a masculine head without any coarseness with dark eye and good ear set and correct dentition. Clean neck into excellent forehand assembly, good width and depth to brisket, well ribbed back, super topline, super hindquarters with clean hocks and good width of second thigh. Presented in super cream coat and condition.

2ND BLUEBRAES BIDEY IN AT ROCAMAR

Mid gold boy who presented a very nice overall picture, nicely balanced throughout – shown very well free stood, he has a balanced head with kind gentle expression, he moved out true with good driving action. My winner was in better coat today.

Darker with much to like, good front assembly, nice straight front on good tight feet, he has a masculine head without coarseness and a kindly eye, His muscular neck flows nicely into well laid back shoulders and return of upper arm, he is deep through the chest He has a level topline which he held on the move.

1ST FAIRWINDS IN SPACE MAN JW

As soon as this dog entered the ring, he completely filled my eye, his title cannot not be far off. He was just what I was looking for and on closer inspection he did not disappoint. He is so balanced from any angle, he has the straightest of fronts on lovely tight feet, his head, masculine without any coarseness, dark kind eyes, well set ears, flowing into strong muscular neck leading into well laid back shoulders, legs well placed under the body with tight elbows, good depth of chest and well sprung ribs, strong over the loin, with a good bend of stifle and second thigh, straightest of hocks which he used to his advantage when he powered around the ring. He was presented in super coat and condition. I absolutely loved him A pleasure to award his BOB and delighted to see him go Res BIS

2nd BLUE GEMSTONE KATRINA AT CAMELLIS VW

This charming 8 yr old dog, presents a nice head and kind eye. He is well angulated front and rear, a good top line with well set on tail He moved well around the ring with ease and looked as though he enjoyed his day out,
