JUDGE: BLAKE CROCKER

My thanks to the Officers and Committee for inviting me to judge this friendly and well run show and to the exhibitors for their support and sportsmanship. I enjoyed it immensely.

DACHSHUND (MINIATURE LONG-HAIRED)

PUPPY DOG 3 entries 1 ABS

1ST FINDOWRIE THE FIELD MARSHAL. Super red boy in very good coat with a handsome head, correct angulation and carrying a firm topline which he held on the stack and on the move. Covered plenty of ground on the move.

2ND GELLIJAMS THE ARCHER. 8 mths fawn who doesn’t quite have the angulation of the winner and is finer in head. Good chest, ribs and underline.

JUNIOR DOG 2 entries

1ST RESTINIM MR PIP. Very well made b&t with excellent bone, super front assembly, plenty of forechest, strong topline and broad, strong quarters. Long, conical head but slightly too much stop for my preference. Beautifully presented soft, straight coat with abundant feathering. Terrific movement on the out and back and plenty of drive from behind. Reserve Best Of Breed.

2ND SANMIK CAPTAIN AT WELINGTONWAY. Doesn’t have the outline of the winner but his head is classic with dark almond shaped eyes and a soft expression. Super temperament. Silky red coat coming on nicely.

POST GRADUATE DOG 1 entry

1ST SCRUMPTIOUS RED ON THE DOT JW. Shaded red who needs to fill his frame and relax a little as he tended to roach his back on the stack. He has a very handsome head with dark eyes and carries an excellent coat. Could be tidier coming to but covered plenty of ground.

VETERAN DOG/BITCH 1 entry 1abs

BABY PUPPY DOG/BITCH 2 entries

1st FINDOWRIE FORGET ME NOT. I loved this b&t baby, very little to fault. Well off for bone, straight front, well sprung ribs, soft coat and moved like a pro. All topped off with a very pretty head.

2nd DONNYDAX SHINING STAR. This fawn was a little unsure to start with and doesn’t have the angulation of 1. Such a pretty head though.

PUPPY BITCH 3 entries

1st FINDOWRIE FOLLOW THE DREAM FOR RESTINIM. A very promising red and one I was delighted to award both Best of Breed, Best Puppy and Reserve Best Puppy in Show. Front assembly has good layback of shoulder with upper arm of appropriate length, allowing for free forward reach. Straight forelegs with sufficient bone and neat, well-padded feet. Hindquarters well muscled with correct angulation, enabling strong drive. Slightly elongated body, firm topline, chest well developed with good forechest and adequate keel. Pretty head of correct proportions, alert expression, ears well set, of good length and beautifully feathered, framing the face correctly. Silky, smooth coat lying close with correct feathering developing on ears, chest, and tail. Sound, true, and purposeful on the move.

2nd WELINGTONWAY MISS MISCHIEF. Very pretty b&t, close up to 1. Confident, happy and well handled, taking everything in her stride. Doesn’t have the tail carriage of the winner.

3rd GELLIJAMS WILDEST DREAMS

JUNIOR BITCH 1 entry 1abs

POST GRADUATE BITCH 2 entries 1abs

1st DARWINDAX BOBBY JEAN AT WELINGTONWAY. Strongly made b&t who was roaching her back on the stack today. Feminine and correctly proportioned head, dark, almond-shaped eyes with intelligent expression, well set ears of good length and beautifully feathered. A bit messy coming to but what a happy mover she is with typical bold head carriage.

OPEN BITCH 1 entry

1st FINDOWRIE ELANA ROSE. Fantastically well made with a typical outline being long and low with a well-balanced, slightly elongated body and a full rump. She is of superior type and it was such a shame that she wouldn’t move on the floor today. I loved her and hope to see her again on a better day.

DACHSHUND (MINIATURE SMOOTH-HAIRED)

PUPPY DOG 2 entries

1st MARVALE ROYAL SALUTE AT HELYDON. Very well made b&t with excellent angulation fore and aft. Straight front, well developed chest, reasonably level back, slightly arched loin and good underline. Moved on a long stride with legs and feet parallel to each other.

2nd SHARNPHILLY TOM THUMB WITH MUTOKO. Brindle who couldn’t get into his stride today. Handsome head, excellent forechest and good over neck and shoulders.

JUNIOR DOG 0 entries

POST GRADUATE DOG 1 entry

1st METADALE SECRET ALLIANCE. Red who was super for type but didn’t stack well. Well angulated, long neck, enough upper arm, plenty of heart and lung room, full rump. Long, conical head. Excellent mover.

LIMIT DOG 1 entry

1st BRONIA LUCIEN FOR DEVONDAX. I loved the type and style of this fawn. He has the most wonderful head and correct expression, well developed forechest, ribs well back and a terrifically showy side gait. I liked him a lot. A worthy Reserve Best of Breed to a bitch on top form

OPEN DOG 2 entries

It was a hard decision between these two quality dogs as I loved them both. Both full of breed type.

1st JENIVON'S STARFINCH. Slightly better in front than the second and showed better. Conical head, excellent over neck and shoulders, compact and well muscled.

2nd BRONIA GUSTAVE OF MELRIDING. Has a better rear than the winner and carries a better topline. No exaggeration about him.

VETERAN DOG/BITCH 0 entries

BABY PUPPY DOG/BITCH 3 entries

1st JENIVONS THE STORY LIVES ON. There was very little to fault on this shaded red, he is absolutely super and there are exciting times ahead for him.

2nd JENIVONS KEEPING ON GOING. Litter sister and exuding just as much quality and terrific conformation. Breeder should be very proud.

3rd BRONIA RIHANNA AT LOUROMI

PUPPY BITCH 2 entries

1st JENIVON’S SECRET WISH. A very appealing youngster who shows much promise and was a worthy Best Puppy in Breed and Best Puppy in Show. Feminine head with correct proportions, slightly arched skull and moderate stop. Dark, bright eyes giving a keen, alert expression. Ears well set, of good length, lying neatly to the cheeks. Well off for bone, long neck, super forechest, plenty of heart and lung room, croup a little steep, well muscled rear. Dense glossy coat. Moved with ease and style.

2nd SHARNPHILLY THUMBELINA WITH MUTOKO. A very nice red brindle who didn’t quite have the movement of the winner. Beautiful head carried well, well balanced throughout, excellent forechest, short, smooth coat.

JUNIOR BITCH 4 entries

Two beautiful girls full of type and quality.

1st MARVALE GOLDEN ORIOLE FOR DEVONDAX JW. Gorgeous, conical head slightly arched skull, expressive almond eyes, high set ears. Neck fits cleanly into shoulders, excellent front assembly, well ribbed back, quarters strong and well muscled, short hocks, free flowing movement.

2nd BRONIA SOLANGE AT LOUROMI JW. Same remarks apply but just a tad longer in leg.

3rd JENIVON’S SPICEBOMB

1st BRONIA’S ANNETTA AT LOWOODS. Shaded red who stood a little bum high today. Correct proportions, lovely head and expression, straight front and strong quarters. Presented in excellent condition and went really well.

2nd FRYSTONDAX SKYE AT SHARDBECK. Pretty headed b&t with good bone and depth. Has enough rear although was running up behind and a bit steep in croup for my preference. Moved with drive.

LIMIT BITCH 5 entries

His body is compact and well muscled, ribs carried well back and excellent underline with sufficient ground clearance. He has such well made quarters and close knit feet.
