Coventry & District Gundog Society

Thanks to the Club for inviting me to judge at their premier open show and to the exhibitors for their entries. I was spoilt for choice in several classes, especially the 2 stakes classes.

GSP. Puppy, 0. Junior (4, 2a) 1st Locketts Winterwell Monets magic of Fayemm, Lovely feminine girl who presents a classic balanced outline, clean cut head, broad skull, soft eye, well developed nostrils, strong muscular neck which leads to deep chest and spring of rib, she is well muscled in hindquarters and moved out well. Gleaming short coat. Close up for Res BOB. 2nd Blacker and Khan-Blackers Humjoli persia prince, good honest lad, masculine head of good proportions, soft eye, well set ears and good lips and nose. I preferred the front and balance of 1st today, he holds a good topline on the move but tended to pace at times, also in muscular condition and nicely handled.

Post grad. (3) 1st and res BOB, Angus Edelmidpoint silhouette for Sparkenhoe JW, liked the overall shape and balance of this girl, broad skull, kind eye and expression, well set ears, good lips and nose, strong neck leads to well placed shoulders and deep chest, strong broad rear and well muscled up, just preferred her tailset to junior winner. Shiny short coat . 2nd Winterwell Monets Magic of Fayemm. 3rd Tudors Orchidstar Memphis gold at Brocador.

Open. (1). 1st and BOB , Pebbles Seasham too much heaven JW, Have been admiring this girl at some recent open shows so was delighted to get to judge her. Presents well balanced classic outline, broad feminine well shaped head, soft eye, clean cut cheeks and well developed nostrils, liked her depth of chest and ribs, strong back and well rounded rear, shown in hard condition, moved out well with reach and drive.

WSS. Puppy(2,1a) 1st and BPIB, Bonser and Hadfield Helgen Stratos, lovely, happy puppy clearly enjoying herself, as it should be at this age. Pretty head with lovely eye, has good angulation front and rear, good bone for age, presented in gleaming coat, moved well holding topline, pleased to see she later won Puppy group 4.Well done.

Junior 0. Post grad, (4). 1st and BOB Gaylor and Robertson Gilstonia run red rum for Aprilflash, Impressive lad, really liked his overall balance and outline, handsome head with plenty of brain room, lovely eyes and expression, nicely constructed front and rear, deep chest with good ribbing and strong loin, strong bone, well muscled up and moved holding topline and wagging tail. Fabulous coat. 2nd Cooper and Mullins Gilstonia Maggie may, sister of 1st and sharing similar qualities, however not as positive on the move today, feminine balanced head, good depth of chest and well angulated front and rear, has pleasing outline, in great coat and condition. 3rd Cochranes Eiriandylis confusion. Open (6, 2a) 1st and Res BOB, Tews Pamicks dream with me, won this class on movement, presents pleasing outline, feminine head of correct proportions, nicely constructed front and rear , mature body, well off for bone, in great bloom. Sound happy mover. 2nd Allens Sh Ch Eiriandylis by George, worthy champ, mature chap with pleasing head, slightly domed skull, kind expression, balanced all through with strong bone, good length of neck and well placed shoulders, strong loin and second thigh. Not quite as positive on move as 1st today, well handled. 3rd Johnstones Glenbows Erasmus for Gilpeta.

Weimaraners. Puppy (4, 1a) Cracking class with little between 1st and 2nd. 1st, BPIB Res BOB, Dodds Theondale hopeful heart, Impressive, stylish young man who is sired by Hangover who I admire . Presents classic outline of correct body ratio, masculine head with that noble look in his eyes, lovely reach of neck which leads to well placed shoulders,deep chest and good ribs, strong bone and tight feet, really came alive on the move showing reach and drive whilst holding topline. Pleased to hear he went onto win Res BPIS under a respected Weimaraner specialist, 2nd Rodgers Minstergate Celebration, also by Hangover who is passing on type. so unlucky to meet 1 today as so close up and just lost on maturity of body as she is younger than him. Again has classic outline and good body ratio, feminine head and expression, balanced outline with good length to back and moderate tuck up, well muscled up and moved with purpose and drive, really liked these 2 pups. 3rd Suetts Silberliss Diamond cut.

Junior, (2, both a) Post grad, (3, 2a) 1st Molls Akwamar back street girl, feminine girl who has pleasing outline, nice head and neck, reasonable depth of chest and ribs,moderate tuck up and well rounded rear not as outgoing as the others here today,

Open.(4, 1a) 1st and BOB Suetts Silberliss peckham pouncer, have judged before and he has matured into a handsome stylish boy, pleasing head of correct proportions, kind eye, clean neck leading to well placed shoulders, correct body ratio,nicely turned stif;es and tight feet. and moved holding level topline, well muscled up. 2nd Osbourne Farndons Silberliss Bombadier, has a stronger head piece than 1st but has keen eye and well set ears, clean through neck to well balanced body, level topline with slope to croup, not as positive on move as 1st but a sound happy boy. 3rd Dodds Kalimor summa love JW.

Stakes: The 2 stakes classes were filled with quality exhibits and I didn’t have enough cards to go round. The open stakes had several dogs I have done well before that didn’t make the cut, but felt they didn’t quite have the show attitude and ring presence today that I have seen previously.

Minor Puppy. 1st Pointer, Olivers Wilchrimane florin to olivesong, promising young lad who headed a class of quality puppies, well balanced all through, with pleasing outline, masculine head with alert expression, body developing as expected at this age with deep brisket and ribbed well back, moved with attitude , in lovely coat and condition. Well handled 2nd Lab, Coodes Warringah Timouron Gundagia, smart black chap of just 6 months old, liked his overall balance and body, clean cut head with broad skull and soft eye,bone and body developing nicely, deep chest, short coupled and good hocks, keen to please his handler and moved straight and true wagging his tail. 3rd Irish setter, Prangles Heathclare Faberge, completed a lovely trio, and close up to winners.

Open stakes. Wow, what an great class this was, I was spoilt for choice and some of my faves went cardless today. 1st Pointer, Adams Sh Ch Carofel wings of hope JW WW23, Flashy eye catching lad , just oozes quality , classic graceful pointer outline, head of correct proportions, nicely chiselled cheeks, good nose and nostrils, deep brisket , well ribbed and slight arch over loin, strong bone and oval feet, moved effortlessly and shown in fabulous condition. Wasn’t surprised to see afterwards he is a champion. 2nd Bambrooks Winsleywood Waghorn at Ravoakar JW,  Lab,  handsome lad, well built with plenty of bone and substance, balanced head, broad skull, kind eye, good nostrils, he is deep chested and short coupled,well muscled second thigh , sound happy mover holding outline, in good coat. 3rd Bracco Northeys Jakobstown one fine day ex libris. Close up as were the cocker, Chessie, Field and Goldie. Thanks for bringing these quality dogs.
