Show: Chesterfield Canine Society Premier Open Show

Date: 2nd May 2026

Judge: Barry Brackner

I would firstly like to thank the committee for my invitation. It is always a pleasure to judge at this well-run show, which is always well organised and has a great atmosphere.

Thank you to my excellent stewards who kept everything running smoothly, and thank you to all the exhibitors for entering your lovely dogs under me. I had some quality dogs to go over and found myself commenting on good shoulders in several exhibits, which pleasantly surprised me as they are not something you see often these days.

Puppy Class – 5 entries, 1 absent

I have to say this was a lovely class of quality puppies, and I suspect they may well change places on another day as they mature.

1st – Mattand Foreign Affair

Yellow 7-month-old bitch. Lovely head with excellent pigmentation and correct eye shape. Flowed into a strong neck with a good front assembly. Good width of chest into well-sprung ribs, level topline and correct tail. Good feet and moved with drive. Still very much in puppy coat. Pleased to award her BPIB.

2nd – Tissalian Jacks Son

Seven-month-old yellow male puppy. Different in type to 1, however again had a lovely head and expression with good pigmentation. Correct head for his age and not overdone in any way. Nice front assembly and still very much a puppy in rear movement, which I am sure will strengthen with age. Level topline, short coupled and in good coat. Preferred the movement of 1 on the day.

3rd – Wynfaul Rumba Around Foxrush

Junior – 2 entries

1st – Dylsonleigh Aurora

Yellow bitch who caught my eye as soon as she entered the ring. I do not believe I have seen her before. Lovely head and expression with a well-defined stop and good pigmentation. Clean neck into well-placed shoulders, well-sprung ribs, level topline and short coupled with a good coat. Hocks well let down, good tail set and nice tight feet. A very showy girl who asked to be noticed. Good bone and moved well both front and rear. I was pleased to award her BOB.

2nd – Dylsonleigh Titan for Pattilands

Yellow male and litter brother to 1, as I realised afterwards. Again, very similar in type to his sister. Broad in head without being overdone, good pigmentation, nice neck into well-placed shoulders and a level topline. Moved well. Was dropping coat today. The bitch just had that little extra wow factor on the day.

Postgraduate – 9 entries, 3 absent

1st – Foxrush Hope So JW

Yellow bitch with the beautiful Foxrush stamp. Kind, soft expression with lovely pigmentation and correct eye shape. Correct neck into well-placed shoulders with a level topline. Short coupled, in good coat with good feet. Moved well both front and rear.

2nd – Dylsonleigh Mais Oui

Yellow bitch, another quality exhibit from this breeder. Nice head, good pigmentation and pretty expression. Good shoulders, good bone, level topline, good tail and nice feet. Moved well. Preferred the overall type of 1 today.

Pretty-headed yellow bitch, very typical of this kennel. Again, another with a lovely neck and shoulder placement, level topline, moved well.
